From the Wilson thread, with a bit more detail.
Cameron was decent defensively.. Making 8 tackles, 6 interceptions and 6 clearances.. Better than anyone else playing, including Arsenal players. He also blocked two shots. His passing was poor, a total of 24 passes with a 56% pass completion rate compared to Whelan who played 29 passes at 76%. He failed to complete any accurate long balls compared to Whelan pinging 5. Cameron had 60 touches of the ball, the most of any Stoke player.. Wilson was 11 behind!
He had a decent debut, it seems obvious he's excellent defensively, but he isn't the answer to the lack of creativity in the middle of the park on todays showing.
All in all he appears to be the perfect Pulis CM.

Did anyone expect him to be creative though? A centre back come central midfielder doesn't fill You with creative vibes. He did his job and he did very well.

Some people for whatever reason were touting him to 'solve' our midfield problem, fuck knows what led them think that.

Personally, I thought he was good, not brilliant, but good, but I'm fucking hammered.

Some people for whatever reason were touting him to 'solve' our midfield problem, fuck knows what led them think that. Well, I'll own up to thinking Cameron may be part of the answer to our midfield problem. We need a good defensive midfielder with a physical presence and Cameron appears to be able to do that role. He looks much sounder than Whelan does when it comes to protecting the back four. In effect he appears to be able to do the job which it is becoming increasingly obvious that Palacios can't do, for fitness reasons. If we are to move away from the "two cm's in a cage" system then we'd also need a creative central midfielder and I'd assume that the desire to sign Huddlestone is a sign that TP may be thinking on those lines.

I can see glimpses that he will be a good player but he hasn't really got the right tempo the moment

I think he could turn out to be good IF he was partnered in midfield alongside a creative attacking midfielder. That is never going to happen though so we are left with utter dross of a central midfield for another season.

A decent debut, but not used to temp / pace of the Prem yet. Made some decent tackles / interceptions, but also looked like he lost his man on several occasions, and was often seen in vacant space, rather than being right 'in the face' of his opposite number.

The wingers are not in front of him ( only level ) and he has no options up front as Walters and Crouch are marked by 4 defenders so the only pass is sideways? Its like banging heads against a fucking wall until people see it for what it is

Thought Cameron had a great game, he looks like he could be a very good defensive mid for us, just needs someone next to him with a bit of creativity and we'd have a much improved midfield. Rightly got motm imo.

Cameron was very good all things considered and he will only get better. Whelan was good for about 5 minutes and was then instantly subbed off.

He definitely needs a good run of games to get him up to the tempo and build confidence. Taking him out of the team now would be ablow to his confidence (but I don't think it will happen).

Cameron has been fantastic this 2nd half though. Looked our best player on the day. Just goes to show how stupid it is to lambast a player after watching him for all of 5 minutes. im sure youll regret posts like this after a few weeks.....

Mr Whelans 29 sideways or back passes at 76% completion rate is not all that good compared to camerons excellent display.
