Yes I do know that Ric wasn't offered a contract of any sort and have posted the full details almost incessantly since December 2010. I can't be arsed to do so again because Ric has now gone! I don't want to tell you why I think TP has done a good job either because that isn't something I like to admit in public! He has done a job that I respect and achieved some things that I never thought I would see. Last season was horrific, Europa League apart, but the abject surrender in Valencia will take some forgiving for me. He surrendered one of the biggest games in our history to prioritise a shitty league game against Swansea. I wonder what you'd have had to say had we lost that shitty league game?

What would I have said if we had lost that shitty league game?
Not much to be honest. I didn't give a flying fuck about it to be honest. As March delights in telling us, we were safe by Christmas and the Swansea game was a complete and utter irrelevance.
In 50 years time, I won't even remember the score of that game. I can barely remember it now!
Milesoffside must love March and his grasp of irony considering his ridiculous ramblings about our performances last season going backwards due to Mr Mobile Crouch , concerns about similar transfers this summer having a similar negative affect on our form, yet still describing last season as one of our best on record!
EDIT - Don't be so fucking stupid MoMo...It's like a no smoking sign on your cigarette break!

Wasn't Ric injured whilst working for the club and never really fully recovered from the injury he suffered bullshit excuse! what is your excuse for keeping Tonge cause he hasn't suffered an injury whilst working for the club the fucker never plays. Ric was released after he had returned to fitness. You might remember him playing last season or is that simply inconvenient to your petty argument. I suspect that we kept Tonge because the usual silly posters on here who find any excuse to moan about TP think he is the best player at the club and should start every game. It is just TP's way of humiliating them for the 1000th time. I remember Ric being playing out of position last season ! funnily enough on the wing the same position that Tonge is allegedly supposed to play, make of that what you will.

I think some of us remember it a little differently, we were far from safe at the time. If we had lost the "shitty league game", we'd have been in a relegation battle, and then you'd have had plenty to say.

Shifty...Without wishing to appear arsey, please stop assuming that you know my thoughts. I wouldn't have had too much to say for two reasons; 1) At the time, I didn't think we were in any relegation trouble at all despite how wank we were playing at the time. We were always a comfortable distance away from the bottom 3 places to have no real concern about relegation. That may have been more to do with how bad the others were, but that isn't the point. We weren't in any real danger and never really were at any point during the season 2) I said at the start of the season that my sole ambition that year was to have a real good crack at the Europa League as it was a "once in a lifetime opportunity" for our club. If I could bookmark or be arsed to look back to find the thread, I would do so. Sincerely though, for me, the Europa League was the most important part of our season. I thought it was massive, hence I went to every game, home and away, as I felt like I may never get the opportunity again. By comparison, the league position was irrelevant for me. My gripe, was not about where we finished, but more how we got there. We were awful. The football was awful. Our approach was negative and dire. We were predictable and one paced. Better players were not in the squad or on the bench whilst far worse players started regularly. It was frustrating and it wasn't enjoyable. The league position mattered not a jot. EDIT - None of that matters anyway. TP is still a two faced wanker who contradicts himself all so easily at every opportunity! EDIT 2 - Just for offside - I think it is quite ironic that Shifty is possibly trying to defend TP in light of my comments despite believing that we were in the shit and genuinely involved in the relegation scrap!

I think that March4 needs to come out of his cupboard and get his Tonge out of Pulis's arse hole, we were shit last season full stop and very fortunate that after wasting the best part of 90 million on one paced plodders there were scarily teams weaker than us, let's hope it's the same story this season or Tonge might finally get a game for us next season in the Championship.

Without appearing to be a know-all, your thoughts are easy to read, they go something like this, Pulis is a tw*t, Pulis is a wa**er, can't wait until he goes.

TPs' quotes can appear demeaning to many as he seems to have a firm belief in his belief rather than telling us what we want to hear, even if what we want to hear is the truth. However this has long been the case, lets not forget him talking up teams like Barnsley when we played them in the championship, he banged on about their years as as a Premier League team. I look forward to him adopting a similar stance with regards to Swindon in the near future. As for Ric........ask Andy Griffin about the managers' public pronouncements. Basically, take what he says with a pinch of salt, its what he does that counts, e.g substitutions at Reading .

If only we had looked something similar last season there would be far less disappointment in the manner in which we reached the 40 point mark.

Johnno as you no I Back tp 100 per cent but I agree with you on this one tp has dropped a major bollock here fuller wanted 2 years then signs for a year for charlton it's obvious we didn't offer him a contract then there is the injury thing well that theory is out the window all the time mama still has a squad number the only reason there is as to why fuller ain't still a Stoke player is simple tp and fuller have had a major fall out and as we all no tp is the boss and he wins every argument just ask kitson , Beattie and yes fuller was better than stein

TP is entitled to his view and he decided it wasn't worth offering Fuller the contract he wanted. A view only some on here agree with.
What we are all struggling to understand is how, in the last few years, Davies, Tonge, Soares, Diao etc have all been worth contracts in TP's view but Fuller wasn't.

SCFC were obliged to keep Mama during his medical treatment as employers because he was injured while working for the club. So what is your point? NeNawNeNawNeNawNeNaw Complete and utter made up load of bollox dressed up as having some weight of knowledgable factuality behind it red (herring) alert. There never has been any requirement whatsoever for any business or club to extend or renew existing contracts because of an injury. Particularly true in the case of over paid footballers. Specifically true in the case of players who were never Premier League standard in the first place and have more than rode their good fortune.

Seems like Bayerns initial response was correct! Shifty...For what it is worth, I personally never felt we would get involved in the relegation scrap at any point but it did look like we could fall like a stone at a couple of points during the season, such was our form. I made mention to MARCH'S assertion that we were safe from Christmas last year, not my own. Finally, again you don't know my thoughts at all as you prove again. I have said many times that we would look ridiculous if we sacked Pulis given the job he has done. Equally, I have acknowledged that were he to leave, for whatever reason, I wouldn't shed a single tear as he is a difficult man to truly warm to. Comments like the one highlighted and so many more besides are part of the reason why he will never be truly loved. It is difficult to argue anything else in all honesty.

Without wishing to get involved in any pointless debate on Ricardo Fuller I do have to have my say on suggestion that we were safe by Christmas.
That's really just nonsense.
TP was so concerned by our league form that he surrendered the away toe in Valencia to concentrate on the next two league home games against Swansea and Norwich.
As the manager, who has made Premier League survival his absolute priority, he is absolutely entitled to do this. And the hard truth is that we won both of those games. Vindication if you like.
Going into those two games though TP was clearly very aware of the possibility of being sucked into the relegation mire. And that's why he did what he did in Spain.
We were much, much more comfortable in the two previous seasons.

Post by davejohnno1 on Aug 25, 2012 7:38:25 GMT
WRONGLY prioritised those two games in my opinion.
We were shit last season and showed many signs that we COULD get dragged into the scrap. It was never LIKELY given how bad the other teams down at the bottom were.
We spent fortunes so as to have a good enough squad to fight effectively in the Europa league and the Premier League. At least that is the current excuse for having a squad top heavy with shit players that we can't get rid of (see latest Telegraph article/interview)
EDIT - I also agree that the previous 2 seasons were much more comfortable, hence why, despite spending 20m+ last summer and despite our forray into Europe, last season was our first backward step for 5 years (incidentally something that TP doesn't seem to acknowledge either in his latest comments describing our continual upward curve).
At best last season, we stood still whilst spending a fortune to do so and at worst, we took a giant step backwards.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but seeing as this board loves a good discussion about TP's quotes and his obvious double standards, I picked up this gem from a sentinel edition I saw earlier; "Unfortunatley everybody has their time and place but I am really pleased Ric has now got himself a really good club in the championship". Really TP? Perhaps that is a sentiment he should have applied to the likes of Danny Pugh, Salif Diou, Mama and Tonge who stayed longer than their time and place should have allowed! It also implies, as I have said many times, that Ric's time and place at Stoke City had gone and that he received absolutely no contract offer from us! As good a job as TP has done, he remains a two faced fucker who is nigh on impossible to love in my household! Really DJ/ I think that you should be looking to your own personal prejudices in this instance Another Pulis quote on the subject was that 'Ricardo had been good for Stoke and Stoke had been good for Ricardo' That just about sums it up. Stoke and Fuller met at the right time and TP has handled him superbly to their mutual benefit. Were you to ask Ric I am sure that he would say the same

I am going to make a sensible point about this, which will mean it is ignored, but never mind.
Maybe, just maybe, Pulis was able to put up with Ricardo's on and off field antics when he was regularly performing on the pitch. Its a lot easier to lose face with other players who see him allowed to get away with a lot (noone can argue he was a fully commited pro surely?) when he was winning games with moments of magic. However, when that player is at best, able to play a bit-part role (unless anyone thinks he is able to start regularly still in the Premier League? No manager seemed to think so) the night.clubbing, lack of effort in training and the red cards become more hassle than they are worth. The other players mentioned might be past their best, but I'd happily wager they set a good example to the younger players in the squad with their professionalism.

I loved Ric but the fact is none of us know what he was like to manage, what he got away with/was allowed to get away with and whether, at the end of the day, he just pushed it too far.
Maybe a better manager than Pulis would have managed him better and got more out of him but considering the fact that Fuller produced his best football under TP that may be harsh.
Whatever, what's done is done, and the constant carping, whining and moaning does little for the club or fans. Thanks for the memories Ric, but we move on.

So we are paying out millions in salaries to players past their best to set an example to the younger players in a squad pretty well devoid of younger players but made up of the seasoned pro's much favoured by TP?? It was a sensible point but when are we getting the credible one? Joking apart I could take the point about Ric and not offering quite what he did in return for being slightly hard work, man management wise (and that is much exagerated by the way) if we had a single alternative to the run hard, run long herd of a squad we have. We have no one still who could offer what even a Ric past his best could therefore I still dont see what plumping to keep a Higgenbotham, Delap, Sidebe and all does for our club whilst releasing the magic man.
