Yeah Campbell was brilliant, his movement and pace caused us all sorts of problems, he's been labelled as the next Rooney apparently. I didn't notice that but now You mention it he didn't but Beardsley barely did either, did he? Most odd. And the bloke sat up by me just sat their watching the game uttering the odd word to who I think after looking at pics on google, Graham Carr. It was definitely Graham Carr. They were a joy to watch, and some of the passes that cut through our center halves were pin point.

A timely reminder how far we still need to go and that the Academy is a very much long term project. Newcastle were on a different level in pretty much all aspects.
I may be wrong but did they not get Category one status?

No they didn't! The 18's sounded like they should have won but the 21's last night would have done better if they hadn't played! Signing Kargbo must still be on the table but do we know if he's signed yet?

Signing Kargbo must still be on the table but do we know if he's signed yet? According to Danish website Bold.dk, Kargbo starts a trial with Danish club AaB Aalborg on Tuesday

I watched the Sunderland game at the Brit and I was quite impressed with some of our young lads. The thing that struck me though in that game was that Sunderland appeared to be far sharper and a little quicker.
Still its a learning experience and I would imagine most of the current team will still be around next season?

It's easy to look at the result but look at the two teams, newcastle had 6 first team players including a 6million pound striker last night, we had players from the academy squad playing. Not our strongest line up by a country mile but we competed fairly well. You should go and see some of the football played by our teams on a Saturday morning, the 18's and 16 are very strong and full of new players brought in for the future, the team of coaches are doing a fantastic job without spending the millions that the so called big clubs plough into their academies. Man city have players on wages up to 35k at this standard and we beat them convincingly in our final match last season to stop them winning the league. If we had kept hold of Marshall, Cuvelier, and Lund we may fair better but the practicality is that there all better off playing regular football at league clubs to gain experience. (yes I know marshall has left but the same applies, before the elites these guys trained every week knowing they weren't going to be in a match day squad) Results aren't everything at this age/level, it's all about development.

Thinking of going to watch the u21s on Monday (i think it is anyway) at Nantwich towns ground. I take it you are allowed to watch it? Also does anybody know how much it costs? I went to the last game at the Brit which was free. It not sure if they all are. I'm not a tight arse just need to make sure I've got some cash on me.

I've neglected this of late due to actually having stuff to do, still no excuse for no bugger else to have a go mind! Anyway, on the 11th, the U-18's play Brighton at the Amex in the FA Cup Youth Cup. It'd be nice if we could have a bit of a run in this competition I think. We never seem to do well in it and it would be nice to change that. Good luck to the lads!

The U-21's are playing now against Norwich at Nantwich. The team is; Bachmann; Keane, Heneghan, Glanski, Clarkson; Thomas, Richardson, Dawson, Musungu; Alabi, Rossi.
subs: Nlate, Glasgow, Campbell, Marsden, Vose.twitter.com/benmouncerGlanski, Nlate, Marsden and Vose are new ones on me! This is pure guess work. I reckon Nlate is this dude from Staines Town/Kettering; www.football.com/en-gb/yannick-nlate/But some did catch the eye with goalkeeper Yannick Nlate, who has come in from Stoke City www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/kettering-town/poppies-boss-doyle-happy-to-have-something-to-work-with-now-1-4466928So we've signed him? And there's a Dominic Vose who is at West Ham, so that could be him and he's on trial here. And it's John Marsden on trial from the mighty Stockport Sports FC. www.pitchero.com/clubs/stockportfc2012/news/marsden-in-stoke-city-trial-811522.htmlAnd we're 1 nil down already. ;D 2-0. Our U-21's aren't very good. 3-0 4-0. 20 minutes to go. Lost 5-0. And that's in the shittest of the shit group. And it's Stefan Galinski, released from Derby yesterday.
