The eventual site of the Brit must be on or very close to the bottom of the picture then?

If its next to Stoke station, the station must of moved since. You forget that the railways had a shed load of land in them days. The line going off to the right is the Stoke-Derby line and looking at it shows the roundhouse must have been located somewhere near the station. Remember also behind Stoke station was a very large goods yard so it could have been near there.

Well done. My guess is between Wheildon Rd and the old A50.

I was correct then, nowhere near the Station.

Where the houses are on the bottom right side there is a D shaped field - thats the football pitches (as now) across the A50 from the Brit, so if I'm right (prob not!) the Brit is situated across the field from there in the very bottom right corner
The A500 goes through the 'colleseum' and down the marshy looking area heading towards the land I think is now the Brit/A500/A50 roundabout

I think I can just about make out Lee Trundle's grandad handing over £30 to an estate agent outside one of the terraced houses just behind the ground..........

There is no a500 on the photo only the canal and the railway line. The a500 would be on the land between the Vic and the canal.

They moved the canal to accommodate the A500 I think (in 1977 when it was opened), then moved it again with the new underpass
At a guess the A500 goes from the dark buildings just above the circular thing (back end of Butler Street?), which I presume were knocked down, through the circle past the ground, then followed the brook (as it does now) before going over the canal at the bottom of the pic
Be intersting to superimpose now over the top - wheres Google Earth!
