He's absolutely spot on, it's a bloody tough start.
"We play three Champions League teams in our first five fixtures, including the champions of England and the champions of Europe, so it's as tough as they come."
That line is classic Pulis though. Thanks for that TP if you hadn't have told us we would never have known who Man City, Chelsea , Arsenal and Manure are.

Wasn`t TP saying how for the first time last season that we had failed to loose at home to the top six etc . . . . . Which in his words is a massive achievement ? Looks like his mind games and shit have started early this year . Mind you another none story from the sentinel is no big shock !

Im grateful that Pulis cares enough to worry. I dont disagree with Macari report of there being 8 top teams and 12 bottom teams. Stoke city last season were capable of picking up points from every team in the PL. Next season Stoke city are bringing in several new players and this carries a risk, surely each of these players will be an upgrade even if a slight upgrade. Stoke city will have a tough season, it is a league of the top 8 teams being of equal ability and 12 teams being of equal ability, with the odd unpredicted score. so Thanks for caring Pulis and im sure the mighty Potters, should be a bit more mightier next season.

It’s a hell of a tricky start. I’m just glad we have such patient and understanding supporters who will recognise this and cut the team a bit of slack if things get tough

LOL! Our Tone is so unpredictable these days..... So it's not a tough start then? Surely he gets asked a question. Offers up an answer. Which is an observation that we have tough start...which we do? I don't get it? I dislike a lot of things Pulis does but this petty point scoring on a complete non-story seems pretty pathetic to me. In future the manager should answer...."That's piss easy, we'll breeze it, who the fuck are they, bring it you muthas"

As for in future what the manager should say is ' It's going to be a tough old season, but we will be giving it our best in every game'. We don't need to hear who the Champions of Europe are, or the Champions of England or that Southampton have been in the Premiership longer than us , or that Reading will be on a high after getting promoted. We know all this, how about just a smidge of positivity from him? H

To be fair, if he said 'we're not scared of anyone' he'd be called deluded. It's what any manager in the world would trot out.

Pulis is spot on.
If we'd have opened against Wigan, Reading, Southampton, Norwich and West Brom he'd be saying the exact same thing mind.

I just don't see what there is to pick at really. What've you've suggested he say, he's probably said similar at some point in history before. It's a tough start, he concurs, we need to improve against Wigan. Most of the stuff seems quite accurate. Maybe he needs some media coaching to iron out his rough edges. A new pair of glasses and a sharp suit might help. A faux Dutch accent ala Schteve McClaren could help too ;D B

Or maybe he can have a chat with Pardew and ask him how he manages to sound upbeat and not seemingly rolling out excuses before a ball is kicked whilst still airing on caution? The fans don't want arrogant posturing, but they don't want to hear excuses either. Even if it was just 'We are looking forward to the season and getting things in place to give us the best chance possible' type of thing I'd be happy.

H Not everyone can match up to Pards though. He is cool suave smugness personified. He plays the media game very well, hence why he's been so often seen in the MOTD studios. He's a good pundit as well as manager. Good on him. B

I'd actually prefer to get those teams early doors than later. However, not if we haven't improved the team before August 31.

This is classic Pulis Someone (can't remember who) pointed out before he loves our "battling underdog" role. Little Stoke againgst the world, it's a massive motivating tool and then he'll draw our crowd into it too for the home games. We'll need the Brit rockin' etc Well if it continues getting us the results at home against the big boys (especially so last season) then I'll settle for that ;D Of course others argue with our investment we should be aiming higher than that !!

Actually perhaps I should scrap the previously suggested MON approach. I remember him saying before our first home game in the Prem he said he wanted to avoid newly promoted sides especially away from home. Just like Pulis has done this very day! Does nobody have any balls anymore!?! (Excluding of course Pards and Adkins and their big shiny kahunas that they carry in extra large ball sacks)

I've just read the article.
Basically, the tough games are against the top 6 or 7, the promoted 3 sides and the teams in the middle, like Wigan.
Not sure what draw he was hoping for in all honesty.
