Just read this on the " Stoke Loud & Proud " page on Facebook. Hardly the most reliable source in the world I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth in it.
" Salif Diao is leaving Stoke at the end of the season after 5 and a half years at the club. TP offered him a coaching role at the club but he wants to carry on playing. Salif said he had a word with the gaffer but it doesn't look like I will be offered a new contract so I will be looking to move on. "

It's in the Sentinel today.
Bit sad on one hand because he was one of the first players in through the door on the second coming of Pulis, and played a big part in kicking us on in the Championship.
Still, too old now and it's time to say goodbye.

I wouldn't mind at all if he did stay on board for another 12 months as cover, because his experience around the training ground and his academy in Africa could prove very beneficial to us.

Yeah as seddon says it's in the Sentinel.
Says TP has offered him a job coaching the U-21s next season, but he would prefer to carry on playing if possible.

He's too old, and people have been wanting him gone for a while.... hope he finds another club though if he wants to keep goin

Didn't this happen two years ago then Pulis offered him a 2 yr deal once the season had started
Ridiculous when you think about it, clearly Pulis was going to offer him a coaching role again at the end of his 2 yr deal, to reject it is showing a total disrespect to . They must have had a discussion that this was going to happen 2 yrs ago?

Interesting that Diao mentions this Under-21 development team that's been mooted for a while.
So presumably we'll be offering lots of the Academy players pro contracts to play in this team when they aren't out on any loan?
Is a new league being created, or will they just play reserve fixtures?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if we enter that, SL. But that seems to be for under-19s. So it'll be interesting to see what, specifically, this U-21 team will be up to beyond any involvement in that

So it'll be interesting to see what, specifically, this U-21 team will be up to beyond any involvement in that I'm sure I got a press release a while back saying they're introducing an Under-21 version of the NextGen Series. I might have imagined that, though!

It simply won't be the same without him. Salif splits opinion on here just as much as Pulis does. My opinion - I think he's great!

He's been good for us, even when called upon this season, but we need younger squad players now. Still we will now climb the Fair Play League without all his bookings Wonder what will be offered contract wise to Big Mama? This will be a busy summer depatures wise with Woodgate, Soares, Davies, Nash & Fuller (hope he signs for another year) all out of contract. Can see Pennant & Jones leaving as well.

I still remember that infamous time Sal broke free of “The Cage” in the dying minutes of the game.
He scored the winner but Tone has never trusted him properly since.
All the best Sal.
Thanks for the memories.

Busy summer squad replacements required for Jones, Pennant, Diao, Jerome, possibly Fuller, Collins , Higginbottom, Upson if he gets his wish , possibly Woodgate . Hands up who wants to give TP another £20 Million to replace that lot just to stand still , and how much of the first £20million it cost to get them do people think we will get back .

We have been in this position before and then on the last day of the transfer window, Sky were reporting that "fans favourite" Salif Diao signs a 2 year deal. ;D

Salif leaving - as if!
This is just part of the negotiating process.
The odds on Salif leaving are between 0% and none.

Do you think he will develop as U-21 coach or jump straight to TP's deputy march?
