There’s a guy at work who claims to go to The Twang gigs regularly so they must still be going. It’d be a pretty weird thing to lie about😉

Not sure if ever a hit in the UK but anyone remember The Frank and Walters? Named after two mad fellas who used to wander around Cork.

I felt when they had to change their name to The English Beat it gave them a little added Je ne sais quoi😉

I offer you a "band" that appeared on more hit records than any other and never released a record themselves: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wrecking_Crew_(music)The drummer Hal Blaine is reputed to have performed on more hits records than any other artist including 140 top ten hits and 40 number 1 hits. Some members went on to successful solo careers such as guitarist Glen Campbell. Be patient with this clip till Campbell demonstrates his playing ability:

I’d completely forgotten about James. I used to play their Greatest Hits to death about 20 years ago. It’s time for me to revisit them, “Alexa, play the top songs by James”. James were a great band and Tim Booth a terrific front man. In comparison to now there were so many great bands in the late 80s / early 90s Stone Roses Primal Scream The Charlatans Happy Mondays New Order Ride The Farm The LAs House of Love Cast Shed 7 Manics Oasis Franz Ferdinand NFADs The Shamen There's a lot of great bands about now, you probably just don't listen to them!

Been discussed on here before he Stoke punk band mid to late 70s called the verdict had a good following and their signature tune was “have you ever been to Stoke-on-Trent?” the lead singer went on to be in the Rolling Stones tribute band

The Enemy were supposed to be the next big thing, what happened to them? And the Coral The Coral are still going strong, releasing new stuff every couple of years. The Enemy have just got back together and are playing at Keele Uni in November.

Yeah hard fi what about the twang?? Got an album by them , love this track. Sounds like they are singing over the backing track to Where The Streets Have No Name (especially at the end).

Give me some names and I’ll give em a go. I think a lot of it’s down to my age. I was bought up on HMV, Our Price and Tower Records where music always always seemed easier to access. TOTP helped too.

I was disappointed they only played 2 songs from it when I saw them live.

UK Subs. One of the hardest working and most underated punk bands in the business. Saw them at the Box in Crewe in December. Lead singer Charlie Harper is 67 years old but has more energy than most frontmen half his age. Honourable mentions also for Angelic Upstarts, Dead Kennedys, Magazine, Penetration and the mighty Hanoi Rocks. Isn't Carlie Harper related to Caesar Romero, the Joker from Batman? His nephew I think. Saw SLF at the Box in Crewe. A few pints in the very cheap Irish club over the road before. . Wow. I didn’t know that about Charlie Harper and Caesar Romero.

Subs are incredible but Charlie is well in his 70s now and still amazing.he was older than many when punk started ,bit like Jet Black, he'd been a hairdresser in the 60s

The joys of Twitter lol, Charlie's better half Yuko, you may have seen on the merch stall at their gigs said this in 2012: "charlie said uncle Cesar is Charlie's uncle twice removed..but Charlie is a direct descendent." The concepts of relations once or twice removed is one that baffles me but there you go

May well be one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
