RAF et al no one is knocking Fuller...Just the fact that the termblegend is over used...and hes done.nothing ti be singled out to be a legend. Liam Lawrence scored arguably the nost important and.set up many important goala in.our promotion season. hes not considered a legend. Just because Fuller as the ability to excite fans and fans sibg his his name in a catchy song...doesnt nake Fuller any nore of a legend than any other players from promotion season I'm frankly staggered that anybody can under-state the impact he had on our team. We were pretty fucking shite with nothing to excite the fans or actually win matches until he arrived. He was electric and to me and thousands of others his often single handed, scruff of the neck grabbing of games will never be forgotten. We all know it's a team game but Ric was an inspiration to both the team and the fans. With him playing we always had a chance, without him we often looked a pale shadow of ourselves. His impact simply cannot be underestimated in my opinion. The term legend is overused as you say but this is modern day Stoke we are talking about and he is 100% pure legend for what he has done for us over the last 6 seasons.

Personally can't wait to bore my grand kids to death in 30 years time with tales of his exploits. I still can't believe Stoke fans can under-rate him so criminally. Opposition fans fair enough but Stoke fans?!?!????

Fuller has done it for us in the past, no one can argue the fact. Legend maybe not. He ain't the player he was and we can add his name to the list of players at the club that are past it. Seems alot of fans on here still think these players need to be at the club because they helped get us here "Time to move on folks".
Delap Diao Sidibe Fuller
Along with Floodgate and the other shite we've collected in the squad Davis Soars Tonge Collins any one like to put a figure on the amount them 9 get paid together a week ?? Be better spent on 4 quailty premership players ....

I think Ric and Rory are worth another year as squad players, although if Ric really is on 40k a week then obviously as 5th choice striker that isn't likely to happen.
When Ric has been played in his proper position this season he's looked good and caused problems.

Fuller hasn't done too much since his injury at Villa and that injury was always going to take it's toll on a 30+ year old player. Like werringtonbranch says, "Time to move on folks", Fuller was good for us, we were good for Fuller. Legend? No. A really good player? Yes.

Would that be because he was out injured for several months and since then has been building his fitness and getting very limited time on the pitch? I think it's fair to say he didn't feature too much prior to his injury. Only Pulis can say why that was though. He was having a fantastic season until he missed a reasonably easy chance against Blackpool. Until then, he'd been seen as Pulis' favoured son, but that miss seemed to change things, and he was barely considered for first team action after that. It probably is time to say goodbye. But how anyone can categorically say that Ric has lost it on the evidence of the few times he's been allowed on the pitch is lost on me.

I would agree with that... we have not really seen him in action enough the season to judge what kind of contribution he could still make.
Based on his performances against Sunderland, away at Derby and Fulham, I'm hoping he still has something left to offer

Wherever he goes he'll be brilliant. I suppose watching him tear through Championship defences again will look good on the BBC after Match of the Day.

if you want to call him a legend because of his ability to entertain then thats your prerogative.. You think that's all Ricardo Fuller has done for us, entertain? what else has he done then? hes not mr stoke city on or off the pitch, hes not an on field leader, he has the tendency to be divisive on the field (cf griffslap) people on this thread are saying he was the main reason for us getting promotion - id say liam was more influential hes been a great and exciting player...however his strike rate and the overall package dont mark him out as a legend. Legend is a term thats bandied around too much. As a club, we have a handful of true legends..Ricardo is just not one of them

He gave us hope, he gave us a cutting edge and he was the focal point of pretty much all of our attacking play for at least 4 years. Away games would have been pretty dark experiences without the feeling Ric gave to the travelling Stokies.

Take either player out of that side and it doesn't go up. I'd say Fuller was more influential because with his pace and trickery he won many of the set pieces from which we scored the bulk of our goals. I loved Lawrence but his influence lasted maybe 1-2 seasons. Fuller's has lasted at least four and I would argue more. Every season he's been here until this one he's carried our attacking threat. He was our talisman. I can't believe how many people seem to have forgotten how poor a team we looked and how little we created when he didn't play. That was true even for the first 2/3 of last season, let alone the promotion season.

Ric will go down as a legend, that’s without doubt.
Him and Lenny were the integral players in our promotion season. Over the years he’s carried us at times on his own.
He’s never been a consistent goalscorer but his game has always been much more than that.
I do think we are reaching a crossroads now and it might be time to move on from him. Saturday was his chance to show the manager why he still should be firmly in his plans and getting more game time and he goes and lets everyone down.
There can be no excuses for it. He did it at West Ham and somehow got the benefit of the doubt with Griffin made the scapegoat for headbutting Ric’s hand in an act of petulance…….
If we go to Liverpool on Sunday and one of our players gets sent off for a hissyfit moment of madness, and costs us the chance to get to Wembley again, I’ll be furious.
I wouldn’t trust him to start a game for us after what he did on Saturday so for that reason I think it’s time to part ways at the end of the season.
That’s not to say I don’t appreciate what a player he has been for us and what he’s done for us over the years.

I'd rather play a good footballer like Fuller who plays on the edge and might get sent off(once in last 3 years?) than someone like Walters who runs around like a nutter and is limited at this level.
Pennant and Fuller are our best footballers by a distance and they'll probably never play for the club again, it's very concerning - we need big investment in the summer imo.

To be fair mate, in my humble, if they didn't have issues they would plying their trade at bigger clubs than ours - we are getting what we can, while we can. If Walters had more issues he would be at a club worse than ours. They've met in the middle - we need both.

It's funny how Championship player of the season means nothing these days. Back in the day, awards used to be handed out on merit.

For a good few months Walters hasn't deserved his spot though, not when the likes of Jerome and Fuller have been on the bench. When at the top of his game at 100% Walters is more than good enough to cope at this level but when he isn't the guy's painfully out of his depth I think. We're 4 years in, and we've stayed up comfortably, but I hope next year we play better football, if anything that side of our game's gone backwards a bit I'd say. I'd have been slightly pissed off if I was Fuller seeing us struggle in those home games where we never looked like scoring from open play to be honest.

Fuller gave the pre-match Bolton team talk at Wembley. Apparently, it was f***** brilliant (and no, it wasn't "Win this one lads and then let's get back to Chicago Rock for some ****!)
I'm sure that privilige is bestowed on mere mortals, but I doubt it.

I think it's fair to say Fuller is a legend. He played an important part in our promotion and the damage he inflicted on WBA is worth a royal bumming alone.
However, what has he done for the last 12 months? Consider his age and the injuries and now his temper. If we are going to keep him because he knows how to fire up the players before a game then leave him to it but to keep him in the starting line-up because of his legend status is bollocks.

I think Kenwyne and Cameron are good players but neither are fit to lace Ric's boots in my opinion. Jones just hasn't got the aptitude to make the most of what he's got and to be honest I'm amazed anyone can even compare Ric with these two lads. Ric has done so much for Stoke City, the other two haven't really done that much at all as of right now. If they go on to have Stoke careers anywhere near as vital as Ric we will be very lucky indeed. Personally I don't see them leaving a legacy like Fuller will. Jamo, I think you mis understood the point I was making. I never questioned what Fuller has done, nor am I saying that Ric wont leave a legacy. I was purely stating that on their day...they are as good as, in Jeromes case or better than, in Jones' case than Fuller. Whether or not they have 1 good game in 10 or that good game is every week isnt the point I was making... The point was if all 3 played to the best of their abilities Jones would be the best, then Jerome and Fuller with little difference between the two One of the funniest things i've read in a long time ;D ;D ;D

If Ricardo Fuller isn't considered a legend, then it's going to be hard to think of another player from this modern era who could be considered one, and after everything that's happened over the past few years, that's not right is it? Fuller played a larger part than most in getting this club back into the top flight of English football for the first time in nearly a quarter of a century, and when we were there, he more than played his part in helping us to stay here. From that platform we've gone on to establish ourselves in this league, reach our first ever FA Cup Final and play in Europe. He's quite simply the most exciting Stoke player we've had for a very long time, and arguably has made some of our football worth watching for a large part of the last six years. I don't know what problem some people have with this. It's pretty bloody pathetic really. When he's offside he doesn't run back onside as fast as is physically possible which automatically means he's lazy. I think you underestimate the problem this causes for some people Dave ;D
