Pretty neutral towards the Vale to be honest, despite any close experience of most of them being negative. But then again, we have some tools ourselves, as does any club. What you have to think is - Stoke-on-Trent is the smallest English city to support 2 professional football clubs - and those clubs have been round for a long time between them. If one dies, it leaves a hole in the area and the lives of the fans that support it. There's probably some snappy Zen one-liner for this, but sometimes, instead of taking the same attitude as your enemy ("F*ck em they wouldn't help us"), it's better to actually rise above it and prove you are a better person by helping them. Yes, they have some idiots I know, but empty vessels and all that. What about the many normal fans who just want to watch their team on a Saturday and get on with life - like most of us? It's down to them now anyway - the stay away campaigns have backfired in some respects and only by turning up and putting cash in the coffers can they keep their heads above water. From the outside, it's a shame that a 10 point deduction will put them mid-table - outside the play-offs and outside any chance of maybe getting promoted to a division with some bigger clubs and bigger paydays. No wonder Micky Adams sounded so down about the whole thing. Excellent post. Some people (on both sides) ain't happy unless they can hate something. Sad. It isn't hate, it's simple common sense. I am utterly and completely ambivilant regarding their continued existence. To my mind, if they cease to be, in 15/20 years time we will be the ultimate beneficiaries. We will have a catchment area of 360000 and it will no longer have a portion of it needlessly syphoned off into a Port Vale shaped hole.

Let's see if those magnificent kind hearted stoke fans will be at Liverpool next Sunday cheering their own team on! After all if they can spare 20 quid going vale park then they can anfield!!
Obviously these great fans can't remember the 90s when they laughed when we struggled, or pissed themselves when Coates took the piss out of us ( yes stokies, he ain't always been the giving kind) how when they spent a season in a league above us they prayed that we would just go out of business etc!
Do these great fans remember how they threw hot tea over mark stein and abused him for 90 mind when he was at barney simply he because he played for stoke!
Every season all they want is for us to go down! They refer to us as sjoke city! Well let them fucking rot! The jokes on you now vale you wankers!! Enjoy your new fan base!!

It's a shame we didn't don our colours and pack their ground out as the publicity and revenue generated would prove what a wonderful bunch the people of the potteries truly are. As apposed to the backward knuckle dragging mongoloids that the rest of the country accuse us of being. The next week we could turn up in our thousands to watch Norton United. I imagine that will secure the area a universal sainthood? They have so little income compared to Vale and yet appear to pay their way. The watching World who judge us on our willingness to help other local needy clubs out can only be impressed? ;D Seriously I think we should remember its football we are talking about here. Football being a tribal thing (except for gloryhunters) means Im going to remember that the very Vale fans who have been most vocal about the shortcomings at their club were instrumental in putting the boards into place. They are also the very same Vale fans who were at the forefront of doing their utmost to destabalise the building of the Britannia Stadium. That was essential to us not going down a similar route to them. They would have pulled the rug on that without a second thought. In short - fuck em!

I just don't get it though. Why would a Stoke fan want to come onto this MB and 'brag' that he paid good money to watch our bitterest rivals? OK, if you're a genuine football fan or want to watch live 'sport' then no problem, but as a committed Stoke fan, why do it and then come on here to crow about it? Like I say, I just don't get it!

I can see both sides of the argument: on the one hand, I agree the Vale fans are pathetic in how much they hate Stoke and a sizeable number wouldn't think twice about pouring scorn on us if the boot was on the other foot. But on the other hand our 2 clubs are poles apart at the moment, Vale aren't even on our radar in a footballing sense, so it's a Vale-esque small time mentality to enjoy their farcical circumstances and I think it's actually quite petty. Let's be the bigger men and not lord it over them from our Premier League perch. They're a local club and I like to see them do well.

I remember going to Vale v Spurs in the cup and loving it. That was before our rivalry was renewed by our fall from grace. I was quite young, 10 or 11, but I remember passionately supporting Vale that day and loving it.
The innocence of youth!!! Still would be sad to see them go though.

If the Vale cease to exist then who would everyone hate instead? I have been a Stokie all my life & have no particular love for the Vale but i think it is a sad day when any clubs teeters on the brink of extinction, after all, it could have been us a few years ago. I would hate for us to turn into a bunch of " don't give a shit about the rest of the leagues, only the bigger clubs matter " brigade like the bin dippers for example. You don't have to love or even like the Vale to see that its football in general that is suffering when clubs go down the pipe. i no they probably wouldn't give us the shit from there shoes, but come on lads, we are better than that. We have a local rival, a derby game ( as rare as it is ) & that is part of what makes our sport great, i for one would be sad to see them go & don't feel the need to direct hatred to a club that are not even on the same planet as us both sportingly & financially. We should also ask ourselves, would Sir Stan want the Vale to fold? Pretty neutral towards the Vale to be honest, despite any close experience of most of them being negative. I know of quite a few STokies who don't want the Vale to fold, and I would have a bet they'd been to more Stoke games and more grounds following Stoke than the vast majority on here. It nakes your statement utterly worthless. I hope that your post is made in jest. You can actually support Stoke and hope another club doesn't lose it's status, you know. It doesn't make you any less of a Stoke fan.

With my Vagrant following neighbour. Thought I would offer a little bit of financial support to our poorer neighbours. Wont be doing that again in a hurry. Saw a new white Mercedes convertible enter the players car park. Thought it may be royalty visiting to lend a hand. No out gets Mark Richards according to my neighbour. Poor Vale? I dont think so. how do you know he does not come from a rich background. you are just making an assumption because of what is going on at the vale that they are chucking money away on players cars. shit bin plz. you should get the facts before making a post like this

I haven't yet met a decent Vale fan and have lived locally all my life, hate is a strong word but is how i feel about this shower of shit, they have now in my opinion deliberatly forced themselves into administration (for the second time), they have been bailed out by the council using rate payers money, how can that be justified when only 5000 spongs actually support this bag of horse shit. What a fuckin joke any Stoke fan who paid to watch that shit should hang thier heads in shame.

Vale mean exactly Zip to me! They are the insignificant shit on my shoes. Might sound harsh, but that's how I feel. A far as I'm concerned, Vale going out of business will be good for Stoke, not now, not in five or possibly not even ten years. But once they are a deep and distant memory, then there will be a new generation of Stokies coming through, who won't be turned away from Stoke by their parents blinkered hatred of anything red and white. Then we can fill the corners in!

FFS grow up. This whole ridiculous thing about what they were supposedly like in the 90s is just silly, and embarrassingly small-time. Fans of a Premiership club crying like babies because the rival fans weren't very nice to us in their one season of superiority nearly 20 years ago. Boo hoo hoo.
Football fans are all more or less the same. Putting personal hygiene habits aside for a moment, we've got more in common with Vale fans than we have with most other clubs, and if you think we'd have been any different if the shoe was on the other foot you're dreaming.
The guy wanted to go and show some support for a local football team which is dying on its arse three divisions below us. Good on him. The only ones who should be hanging their heads in shame are those with such a fookin complex about it.

You clearly don't know many Vale supporters in 2012...their attitude towards us hasn't changed a single bit. Good luck to him for stumping up his hard earned (that will incidently go to the board as they aren't officially in administration until Birmingham High Court declare it on Friday) ....but i wouldn't chuck a pound in a bucket collection for them
