It would be good if we could keep the ball a bit better though.

I read that one of the Swansea midfield has the best passing stats in all the top European leagues at the moment.
It doesn't mean much.

I don't know (he says, toying with the idea of reading all about tactics), but if you play a certain way, then one presumes their is a higher risk of passes* going astray, rather than shorter passes which are simply more likely to reach their intended player. Therefore, we may statistically have the lowest pass rate but it doesn't necessarily equate to the successful final outcome of a game. He said, making it up as he went along.

which means, our completed pass to goal ratio must be one of the best.........our way of playing is now renamed "efficient football" or "economical football" ;D

69.8% pass rate seems pretty good to me considering we hoof it all the time!

True. You may as well argue that Turner painted more beautiful pictures than Cezanne because he used a wider colour palette. Er... you know what I mean. i.e. it's a pointless debate. A straw man debate.

Our pass completion is more to do with our Managers tactics than our players ability to pass it to each other.

None of that counts for some people, being higher in the stats league is far more important apparently

hold onto the ball better = more chance of getting more goals not rocket science really Spot on. An equally basic point is that the other team can't score if you've got the ball. Given we set up to keep it tight and nick something away from home, you'd think we'd be up for not continually giving the ball away.

Just to clarify, I wasn't having a dig at TP, I was just giving the stat more relevance.
There is a reason why we're the lowest but who gives a fuck if we get results?

I used to live next door to a Stoke midfielder back in 2000/01. When the opts stats etc starting appearing. He told me to watch him on a particular game to see how the stats were flawed. He completed 10 passes in less than a minute by picking the ball off the centre half, he then passed unchellenged to both full backs the centre halves into midfield and eventually when closed down back to the keeper. We won the game 1 o from a punt up the pitch

Didn't we get the same pass rate as Citeh on the day we beat Wolves/Blackburn away? 81% I believe (Sky Sports).

One thing you should have learned about watching Tony Pulis football is that all of the above is largely utter fucking bollocks.

I read that one of the Swansea midfield has the best passing stats in all the top European leagues at the moment. It doesn't mean much. I'd say it does because Swansea are doing very well in a division in which they were expected to go straight down That good passing is probably making a positive impact on their success

Has no one notice our game plan. When you receive the ball in defense, close your eyes, swing a leg at it and shout the name Sidibe, Kenwynne, Crouchie ;D Don't know about you, it may not be pretty, but it will do for me with the success it has brought to the club
