"YES!" -Big name team; -Knock-out stages; -Come on you muppet, of course we'll sell out! We're in Europe for the first time in nearly 40 years and eased through the qualifying round and group stage; the competition starts here!
"NO!" -£25+ a pop, £10 more than the group stage -Less star attractions than both Dinamo Kiev and Besiktas -First leg so nothing really decided on the night -Game on TV -A few thousand going over to Spain -Come on you muppet, of course we won't sell out! There are loads of tickets left and many season ticket holders don't seem to have bothered.
Wadda ya reckon?!

It has to be yes doesn't it, comparing those lists of yes and no?
Three historic reasons why you have to be there in the yes column, six gay excuses in the no column.

Why have so many season ticket holders not bothered yet then? Because of the club's retarded policy of a 3rd January deadline?

Yeah, it's Category B prices but then most people have season tickets and that works out to about £18 a game.
We should be looking at a sell-out really but it is a bit strange that there are still thousands (maybe even 10,000?) of seats available and tickets are now on general sale...

I'm sure a lot of people are having to be careful with their money due to Christmas. There are still six whole weeks to go before the game and I think the club should have recognised this and given more time for supporters to claim your seats. Nevertheless, I still think we will slowly get up to a near full house.

We don't know how many of the season ticket holders, who have not bought tickets for their usual seat, will opt to move to other seats to sit with friends. It really is too early to say whether we will sell out or not. In the earlier rounds it seemed that about 50% of the ST holders opted to move seats ......

Considering that we're reaching the more advanced stages of a major European tournament and playing one of Europe's top sides, I believe pricing the game as a category 'B' is about right.
I would think that come February 16th most, if not all will have been snapped up by the real fans.

Have to admit I was so tempted to give this one a miss, over £100 to find for me and the family just after Christmas.
Its also on a cold Thursday night in Feb when it will be live on the telly.
In the end however, common sense was discarded and tickets brought. Could never forgive myself if I missed seeing us in Europe against one of the biggest sides going.

I think the ticketing for the home leg has been absolutely shockingly handled.
I know of many season ticket holders who hadn't got a clue that they had to get their seats before 3rd January. And just what a stupid date to produce - surrounded by Bank Holidays, New Year festivities etc...
It was not advertised well enough in my opinion. Stokies of all ages have been suprised that it was the 3rd they needed tickets by.
Why couldn't they have said 10th January and given folks an extra weekend to get tickets? That would still have given over 5 weeks before the actual game for non-season ticket holders to get theirs.
Off the field, Stoke are still in the Championship at best in my opinion. The club shop has been a poorly stocked joke for some time now ("your kid wants the home goalie shorts? Get them from Swansea or West Brom as we're getting none back in, ever!"), those who are on the clubs trip guaranteed a ticket for the away leg, and the stupid rush for STH's to get their Valencia home ticket.
I fear that we will not sell out for this. Heaven knows why, as it's the last 32 of Europe for christ's sake. But I just wonder if there is any thought that goes into some of the off-field decisions, as we rarely make things easier for ourselves. A good test will be the ticketing for the game in Valencia - will everyone who is going get one? Will it be another Chelsea FA Cup?
Not good enough.

I tried to get my usual seats on Monday night, but the scfcdirect system was playing up, so after a minor panic as the 8am deadline passed on Tuesday I got through on the phone. My seats were still available as were 3 on the opposite side of the steps - which I went for. I too was a bit surprised at the earliness of the ST deadline - considering it has been cut much finer than that for cup games in the past.

I bought a few additional tickets this morning from the Newcastle shop and there were quite a few other people buying Valencia tickets and the trade for them has been very brisk
Our average gate in the Europa League was about 24,000 against less 'salubrious' opposition
Yes they are pricing it at Category B to get as much money as possible out of us..but I reckon that it will sell-out..I know people who are going who haven't been to a Stoke match for decades

£25 too expensive based on what? Was it based on the club sold tickets too cheaply for the group stages to guarantee a near full house for all 3 games? I thought £25 see Stoke v Valencia in last 32 of Europa league was very fair. We are not playing some lower league team nor a team who no one has heard of. Maybe I'm just over excited if people are really thinking about not going.
I do however agree with bunny over the way the club went about selling the game. I didn't even know they were on sale till I read on here that they'd got their ticket. To use the 3rd of Jan as a cut-off was a joke as the club shop was closed on the days leading up to this. Stoke really need to sort this out. I understand where the club is coming from in needing to know which seats are gonna be available due to losing blocks 7 & 8 and needing to put those season ticket holders somewhere but would an extra week or even a few days really of made much difference

I think the clun have shot themselves in the foot quite a bit with the whole ticketing:
1.) I think £25 is a bit steep as especially around where I sit in the Boothen I've noticed that a lot of parents have been taking there children to the Europa matches and for these parents to take there kids you're looking at a £100 just for the tickets not including food, drinks and match programmes.
2.) the advertisement for the January 3rd deadline for reserving seats has been none existence and is a bit tight on ST holders especially just after Christmas.

No issues with the price £25 IMHO is very reasonable. It is the same price as PL games vs Wigan/QPR/Blackburn/Norwich/Swansea.
Handling of the ticket allocation has however, been appalling.
- The ONLY information realeased about this issue (that I saw) was on the Internet - Not everybody uses the internet. - Why was this not advertised on the big screen/perimeter hoardings vs Aston Villa/Wigan? - Why no large advert in the paper etc - The deadline for tickets was 6 weeks before the actual match - who was even thinking about buying tickets for the home leg - this far in advance? - People were expected to purchase tickets over the busy/expensive christmas period. Went on sale 20th December - 3rd Jan (ST deadline) that was just 8 'working days'.
One word - SHAMBLES.

The Valencia game is priced at Category B...That isn't £25 to get in...so we might see a few empty seats in the 'Q Railing' stand and Seddon premier seats
Had the club made it £25 anywhere we WOULD have sold out

Stoke City vs Valencia in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup is worthy of at least equal billing with the aforementioned PL matches.

I got my ticket, but the 3rd January deadline seems crazy for all the reasons mentioned above. The game isn't played for another month, why not allow an extra week?

The timing and lack of communication is undoubtedly why there are currently so many unsold seats (approx 40%) but I would be surprised if they didn't all go eventually.
I reckon there'll be a fair few ST holders who are completely oblivious to the fact their normal seats are already available or sold.
Stoke have handled the Valencia tie very poorly so far.
Originally, there was no Silver priority period then that just suddenly appeared on scfcdirect without any notice on the OS.
Feels like they're making it up as they go along with no consideration for the usual procedures.
The away leg is even worse with the invention of the '£419 Club' taking priority over the established membership schemes.
Yes, it's all new to the club but we need management of a higher calibre than what we're seeing evidenced here...

I just don't get it!!
I'd have thought everyone with an interest in SCFC would have known the cut-off date for ST holders. Admittedly it wasn't in your face at every turn but nevertheless a quick glance at the club site or a few minutes on here told everyone everything they needed to know about the cut-off dates. Maybe the 3rd January deadline could have been extended for another week, but what real difference does that make?
I'm no Rockafella, but £30 (what I paid) is hardly going to break the bank is it? Folk just need to realise that we're no longer small-time and shock as it is, watching a Premier League team play a leading European club in the later stages of a European competition isn't going to be as cheap as some would hope.
