Delighted to see some just praise for Kenny.
RAF is quite right that he'd have been slated for missing the chances Walters did today.

What people don't realize is that playing in his position in a TP team means he will get shite service 90% of the time but be expected to chase and jump for every ball. The long ball down the middle creates nothing and is food and drink for 2 centre halves, whip the balls in from the byline and he will score goals.

I thought he did very, very well. One howler, but also one good goal. He was good in open play today, as he has been so far this season. I thought his movement off the ball was a little slow in the first half, but he won almost everything that was fired at him and, importantly, when he nodded the ball on he made sure he was heading it to a Stoke player, or in the path of a run.
Walters is going through a stale patch at the minute and we need to bring somebody else in to provide him with both competition and a bit of respite. Has he played every minute so far this season, including Europe and despite his injury?

Keep it up Kenwyne - excellent second half today. Some of the comments on the match day thread about Kenwyne Jones, Walters, Wilson, Whitehead, Whelan and Pulis reflect far worse on the idiots that wrote them than they do on the players targeted for the abuse. Spot on mate.

Sat in a pub watching the game and for 93 minutes he was lazy, useless, the worst player on the pitch and after he had scored he was a star and had an amazing game, I think that sums up how fickle most Stoke fans are. My opinion is if he gets decent service he will score goals, it's pretty simple. well said

What concerned me was on the pictures i saw he was 1st down the tunnel at the end of the game when surely he should over at the Stoke fans thanking them for their support or maybe i'm reading too much into it. Fuck me can the lad do oat right ? He probably reads this fuckin message board and thinks he can't do anything right so fuck the lot of yer ! Could you blame him really and by the way not too many people saying they have previously give him dogs of abuse but they we're wrong coming on here ey !

My opinion is if he gets decent service he will score goals, it's pretty simple. well said Agreed. He is a good player, and he does have the the skill to score the goals. but the reason people have been calling him lazy is, erm, well because he is and was. Watch the game again, look where he should of been running into the box when were ready to cross the ball in, apart from the goal he was always in the D standing still. Take the Etherington shot in the first half, ethers did brilliantly to get where he did, but if Kenwyne carried on running to the penalty spot, we could of had a goal. But ethers instead had to take the shot himself, which wasnt bad. and he did that alot of the game when he should of been in the box. He is a briliant player, and I am so happy that he got his goal. Its the sign of a good striker if he can score when not playing his best. We all support him because he is a stoke player, but we want him to run a little more like he did when he first came here. Its early, and the players are still getting fully match fit. COME ON STOKE

Anyone has the right to moan ! Walters, Whelan and Whitehead today were shit. Pulis's team selection and tactics were shit. Jog on son ! Don't know whether you noticed but another team who played in Europe got diced by the dog heads today ! Our schedule has been difficult given our threadbare squad (which I'm confident will be sorted this week by the way). So all in all a good point again !

Pughy86 I don't think you quite understand what generalfaye meant.
Also, kenwyne isn't lazy. He put a good shift in. He just doesn't run around like a headless chicken.
As for your comment about the etherington shot, it is ridiculous to blame kenwyne. It sounds like you are one of those who moans at him, expecting him to be a miracle worker.
Kenwyne jones worked very hard today, won plenty & fully deserved his goal. If we get decent balls into him and bodies around him, then only good things will happen.

thought he played really well today despite everyone slagging the lad off. missed one or two but never shyed away , took the last one well. We need another 5/6 players but constant criticism of our starting 11 gets us no where. Still unbeaten UTP !

I don't think he's made a bad start to the season , but then again he doesn't look as sharp or as good as when he first arrived. He needs a bit of luck to build up his confidence.

Apart from the miss he was fantastic, he's perfect for Stoke and the more confidence he gets the better IMO.

He was dreadful first half a lot better 2nd Some have given him MOM to that I say well someone has to get it. My opinion is that his performance does not require a seperate thread he just played his usual self in poor Stoke performance not a particular bad effort but far from Fantastic. Glad he got his bonce on that cross though well done KJ

I really think he just needs more support. I think it would be great to have an more attacking/passing midfielder in behind him and walters for him to lay it off too. He looked to have no options on a few occasions when he held it up well.. Then have the wingers out wide and a dean whitehead / wilson palacios in the holding midfield role

Players like him are our problem, tireless effort but no ability, Walters likewise but keep for a squad player.

I'm not a fan of Jones but I too think he has had a good start to the season. His work rate has been a lot better than normal as well

I think he's had a fairly average start to the season but I felt he was much better yesterday and did well.
Hopefully the goal will do him the world of good and kick start his season.

Not to be under appreciated - I think that Kenwyne wins more defensive headers when we defend corners than most other forwards of other clubs- yes I know this isn't his main role but he should be credited with it.

deano isnt one of the most skilled CM's we have but his work rate and tackling is important in the structure of our team and he runs further than anyone in between the boxes. I do however think if we get a another midfielder in (fingers crossed), who can really pass the ball to the wingers and work off KJ, he will have to be a substitute
