Been having a conversation with someone who works at Stoke, they have told me that crouch won't be signing, but Palacios deal is still on! Also, there won't be any signings this week because the management and team are all in switzerland!

If adebayor is joining spurs then I'd imagine that means crouch is definitely on his way out, and we're one of a handful of clubs who could put the money up for him, so i personally believe it's still possible.
He's played outside of london before, he's been at liverpool and Portsmouth.

I'm not overly eager for Palacios deal after hearing the trouble with his knee. He's not creative player but more of a destroyer. If a player isn't confident with his fitness it has a great affect how he is going for challenges and tackles. Is the knee injury the real reason he has had a loss of form last couple of season? No one could tell for sure but Palacios.
Fit Palacious would be a great player, so I hope his medical will be proper one.

And Southampton. And Norwich. He was also born in Macclesfield.

He's not creative player but more of a destroyer. Why would you buy a "creative midfielder" when there's only two "holding roles" available? Pulis want's a holding midfielder that can defend and then distribute the ball efficiently to the wings or up front. He's not looking for someone to hold on to the ball and try to get a "30 pass move" going every time the team is "on the break".

I ment that creative players can be somewhat useful even if they aren't fully confident on their fitness, but destroyers can't.. they cant start thinking that every tackle they go with 100% could be their last one. So my point was that Pulis should make sure that the destroyer he brings in is fully fit.

I'll take Bendtner over Crouch anyways. If palacios has a dodgy knee leave him and sign Michael Bradley instead. I trust Tony Pulis implicitly and will continue to back him in the market. He ain't leaving Stoke until he decides he wants to leave so I have moved on with the likes of Tuncay, Krancjar, and any other "luxury" players. As long as we stay up I'll be happy. The demise of Grimsby Town and Luton is freaking me out.

I see your point: stick a midfielder in the middle who can't tackle and the team would be massively exposed, but that also goes for creative players too, you need someone who can do the lot, it's an expensive position to fill. I don't think there's anything to worry about on the medical side, Ba and Woodgate are good examples there.

I cannot think of a player who would better suit our system than Palacios, that is remotely realistic, so I really do hope we sign him up.
Can't see us signing Crouch or Bentner unfortunately, and I think we'll sign Jerome and Cole before the window closes when they realise we are their only option.

It would suit me fine if Palacios signed and Crouch did not. No rhyme or reason to my position on this, it just comes down to the fact that Crouch looks ridiculous, lanky streak of piss that he is

is it a real injry or a pending transfer injury? I think the latter, mate. I notice Crouch, Jenas and Palacios are not named for Spurs' Euro trip. Hope that means we get all three! Be happy with that. Would have liked a sneaky bid for Beckford, too. Here's hoping we get some joy on the signings front soon.

Seems the general concensus re the Spurs two.
But why them being Switzerland affects us signing people when we are desperate is beyond me. But we've showed we can't when we're in Austria. Utter cack!

It's amazing how many fans aren't even aware of what kind of system their own team play.
