With the new season nearly here at last what has been the most enjoyable opening day Stoke fixture you have been to.Hopefully Sunday will eclipse everything but my nomination is for 1979/80 at home to Coventry, return to Div 1 ,Stoke end opened up and a win.Good 2 points they were. Norwich away in 1980/81 has to be the worse,5-1 defeat.

Who was it at Boothferry Park who rounded the keeper in front of the Stokies, and hit the post!!! Always remember the fan who ran onto the pitch to celebrate until he realised it hadn't gone in. Happy Days.

The 0-3 win at Derby was our second season back in The Championship, we drew 0-0 at Hillsborough a year before. I think the Derby game stands out for me though, wish I had gone to the 0-1 at Cardiff though that would probably be up there!

Beating wolves 2-1 or 1-0 i think it was, darrel russel late goal, i was not there i remember it because I was in the sunny island of cyprus, so once my delight of the result had set in I grabbed a beer and strolled into the pool. beautiful moment.

Derby 3-0 stands out but one of the best was when simmo saved that penalty and we beat Cardiff 1-0! Roasting hot that day to. Can't remember who scored? Some lad on loan from Manure.

Though it wasn't my first Stoke match, the first match of the season I can remember and think I attended was at home against Rotherham. It was the 90/91 season, my first ever season ticket year and we won 3-1. I remember collecting my season that season and seen Noel Blake by the old club shop and was delighted to chat to him as a 7 year old kid, it was Noel Blake who scored a flying diving header that day. Ever since that season I can remember every first match of the season I have only missed one, Northampton away which I was completely gutted about - parents booked a holiday, I remember not being chuffed.

David, that day Darel scored a lovely goal from outside the box and ran behind the goal, high fiving with the first row of the boothen.
That game also notable for 2 Wolves players fighting on the pitch, then one running off!

Remember us losing to Millwall on the first game of season after promotion in 93.
Kicked off in family stand area.
Believe Mick McCarthy scored for Millwall (could be completly wrong)
That Derby win was a memorable one also.

Anytime we kick off the season at the Brit ! We don't get many....
Think am right in saying
Stoke 2-0 Burnley Stoke 0-0 Sheff wed Stoke 2-1 Wolves
Are the 3 home game opening fixtures we've had in over 10 years?

Wolves at home. Boiling hot day, full house and a 2-1 win. I can still see Russel running onto that ball and smashing it home! And didn't Kenny Miller play for Wolves then ???

LordB that Birmingham game sticks out for me too.I thought it was 86-but i have been trying to forget the experience for 25 years. I was stood level with goal in the Kop at the Railway End where a Astoke player hit the bar while standing on the goal line-with the ball bouncing back out over his head-it remains the most incredible thing Ive seen on a football pitch-any idea who it was? the trauma has wiped it out of my mind
