Beat Northampton Town 3-1 I was at the cricket at Headingley next to bloke in Stoke shirt. I was excited and told him the score, he just grunted and carried on lurching from side to side.

Remember us losing to Millwall on the first game of season after promotion in 93. Kicked off in family stand area. Believe Mick McCarthy scored for Millwall (could be completly wrong) That Derby win was a memorable one also. That Millwall game really was a shock to the system after smashing promotion and all before us the prior season, we then got a mauling on the pitch and it was pretty eye opening off it first game up ! Wasn't just the family stand where it kicked off, their lads made it half way down the Butler St seats. Bolton away 1st season in the prem was a worrier, we got humbled and punished for school boy errors and looked complete cannon fodder

The Coventry game was great although we nearly blew a 3-0 lead. Barry Powell pulled two back for them. Crooks also got two for us that day.
The 2-1 v Arsenal was fantastic. Chamberlain of course and George Berry scoring 5 mins into his debut.
the 5-1 at Norwich was a real worry although we achieved our highest finish in recent years that season. We really did pick up after a shocking start. We got revenge on Norwich at the Vic with a Chapman hat-trick as well

LordB that Birmingham game sticks out for me too.I thought it was 86-but i have been trying to forget the experience for 25 years. I was stood level with goal in the Kop at the Railway End where a Astoke player hit the bar while standing on the goal line-with the ball bouncing back out over his head-it remains the most incredible thing Ive seen on a football pitch-any idea who it was? the trauma has wiped it out of my mind I have got Bamber in my mind however he didnt sign till 89. tbh I just associate all unbeleivable misses with Bamber...

Bamber joined in 88. Late 88 but 88. First game was the boxing day banananana game. Am I correct in thinking that Bamber scored on his debut v Citeh? Kamara and Tony Henry as well to win 3-1? A Citeh colleague of mine remembers that day well as it was his first ever match
