Can anyone remember that name of the TV shop about halfway down piccadilly on the right?.... Used to haggle them right down in price and got some great bargains/deals. Once brought a Perdio Video Recorder for the lads room and he's had it about 20 years now and it's still going strong.... Was it "Colour Vision" or something like that. I bought my first really good Hi Fi from there - a Sony with real F off speakers. They never did proper credit checks, they just wanted to see a valid credit card. Only Barclaycard and Access around back then as I remember. Better late than never, but yes that's the one thanks mate.

Mike Stone (Clay) Records in Hope Street. Discovered some great music in there, most of which I still have, albeit in the attic, 30 years later.

It was Chawners on Hope Street Harry. Ben Sherman, Levi Jeans, Crombies, Loafer shoes, two-tone tonic suits, braided jackets. You could also buy yellow hankie with diamond (fake of course) stud to go in your Crombies top pocket. Was Hayden's the one at the bottom end of Piccadilly past the ABC, also got stuff from Burtons at the top of Piccadilly Hayden's was similar to Chawnwers but Burton's was for Toffs and Suede Heads mate.

There was a shop set back on the left just as you go down hope street which sold designer clothing and then owned a shop down Piccadilly which amongst other clothing sold Simpson jeans. I do believe he had a shop where weatherspoons is now as there was a precinct there.
Didn't this lad then sadly committ suicide?.
Real nice lad

Talking about shops gone - anyone remember the sweet shop in Stoke? The one that as you sweep round to the left to go up to Newcastle (opp Wetherspoons), go past Vale St, and it was on the right. I think that there is a burnt out chip shop there now, on the row.
It was run by two elderly sisters. A good little sweet shop. They also sold fags singly! There was a glass jar on the counter, for folks that couldn't afford (or want) a pack of ten or twenty.

Does anyone remember the clothes shop Oriole? It was amongst a small row of shops at the top end of Hanley by the roundabout towards Town road. Sold Chevignon clothing which back in the day was superb.

Even that shop which is tracing now in that row of shops 'big menswear' or something like that I'm amazed it's still going because I've never seen anyone in there and it's not as if I'd miss e'm exactly.

Ok. This is an obscure one. I'd be impressed if anyone remembers the rocks and minerals shop which was upstairs above the shoe shop on the corner opposite Midland bank. Used to love that shop. Best part of 40 years ago.

I remember the 1st ever kebab shop in Hanley, years ago on the way out of Hanley towards Hanley Forest park, was a sort of PortaKabin building. Also remember the Deli that was on the site of the now Potteries Shopping Centre, opposite what is now Poundland, and Hedonism....Used to love the smell of cured bacon and cooked meats....

In mid 60s I was a butchers boy at Dewhursts on Town Street just by side entrance to old market. I was offered an apprenticeship as I was leaving school but had already passed entrance exam for navy so chose that instead.
