EDIT: Just checked, it is at Deepdale. 4 quid for Adults and 2 quid for Concessions. It's being played on Tuesday December 13th @ 7:00pm

Not massively impressed with our lads generally, but the boy Dawson (number 4) looks a good prospect to me? Lucas is a very good footballer. Very comfortable on the ball and a good range of passes. Only slight criticism for me is that he just needs to up his game as far as driving forward with the ball but that will come with the right encouragement. Could make a player somewhere in the future, It wont be at Stoke.

How many young keepers do we want or need? I have an Academy photo from October 2006 with around 110 players including 12 keepers, plus coaches and management. From what I know, of the keepers, two are still in the professional game, playing league football and of the out-field players just one, Ryan Shotton, is a professional footballer. Few of the others are playing non-league or in sports-related further education. Not exactly a positive indictment of the Academy system.

We seem to be spreading our net far and wide looking for the right young players - let's hope some of them actually break through in a few years to save Uncle Peter a bob or two!

I can understand why Mark W believes this, given Tone's abysmal track record with young players. But no-one can predict the future, and TP needs saving from his own instincts at times. Supporters love to see young local players make the grade, so I believe Uncle Peter needs to stop TP at times selling off young promising players before they have been given a chance to make the grade.

Did u listen to the 6 towns radio interview with him when asked about balotelli he said that the academy managers ran the academy and they picked who they signed and released it wasnt up to him, he also said that he tried to watch them if he had 5 mins spare. Not enough really 6towns.co.uk/news/2011/12/tony-pu....-c#.TuHvcrL1mnQ

Partly right. As I said elsewhere even the lads who are held up as an example of local boy done good is somewhat tainted. Wilko was released by TP just before he got the sack first time around but was saved by Boskamp as he had no players when he arrived. TP and Scholes agreed to sell Shotton earlier this season but St peter stepped in. March will know this. As for Dawson he has the ability but there is restricted room in the pro dressing room at Clayton Wood and priority will be given to the imported lads who have arrived with a pro as part of the deal. TP insisted the academy started winning games because he was embarressed by the team finishing bottom of the league. Hence the clearout regardless last year. The lads with pro contracts will be short lived at Stoke as Flo will discover this summer along with a couple more young pros on the books. Add to this that Dawson is hardly a TP type central midfielder; he can play a bit. There is no development post 18 at the club (arguably before Dave Kevan arrived none before) because there is no structure and the coaches in that area are shite. I could go on but I prefer not too because some people dont want to know and I will get branded as bitter for obvious reasons. One day when its right to I will.

There is no development post 18 at the club . Agreed! There is so very little in the English game for home-grown players in the 18-21 year groups, hence why so many leave and league clubs focus has switched towards foreign imports. I have debated this on numerous occasions but the main hurdle appears to be control (contract ownership) and football governing politics. (Even Greece has recognised the need to keep costs in check and develop younger players hence their Football League reserves games are limited to U-21 age group.)You could add Martin Paterson to the Stoke City short list of home grown players who moved on to come back as Premier League players, albeit for another club. If it wasn't for Peter Coates there'd be no Stoke City Academy.

Rossi, Suljevic, Bachmann and even some players like Dawson, Hall, Richardson etc might get a few years, but they'll never make it at Stoke. Unless they fancy hanging about for 5 years before coming on in the 89th minute at home to Accrington Stanley. Flo, Lund and Moult will know this the most. I hope Flo leaves, even though he isn't playing much, he still got picked for Belgium U21's, which shows they still believe he has the quality. Maybe a move back home would be best. As for Lund, he's 21 now and has no real experience, same for Moult, but he he a little time left to impress. Don't even get me started on Ben Marshall, I think that's another player that Peter will have to protect.

Can't believe we're not taking the academy serious. The constant stream of new academy signings to me signals a will to improve on what we've got. Latest new face Ausiie U17 interntional Tom King played against Blackburn yesterday. Apparently we've signed him from Liverpool. Played for Australia in the U17 World Cup this summer.

Stokecity4eva, Smajl left about 6-8weeks ago.
Wasn't happy, had a falling out, and left. Not got a club at the moment.
Santy, again, Scott has been here about 4-6weeks. A replacement for Smajl I guess. Scott was going to join in the summer though.
Nardiello is another we've had for about a month, but no updates on the official site or anything.

Laton Wint Matthew Cohen Nicky Jackson Laton Wint has had football knocked out of him for the time being and is basically babysitting his new born child. Matty Cohen was at Hednesford but has just moved to Market Drayton. Nicky Jackson is playing part time with Warrington Town and attending University.

One day when its right to I will. this was all brilliant and a revelation to me. My mate who was a third year craig has just been told he going to be released soon, and it really begs the question what is the use of the academy? what is going wrong and what measures need to be taken so that something can be gotten out of stoke on trent young players? to me it comes down to TP's distinct style in the first team, this is not condusive to create short passing footballers, which is what the FA now emphasises. Do the youth coaches play their own style and pick players that are technically good, or does the mantra pass down so that all aspects of the club are geared to TP's prinicpals? interested to know

Don't know if it's been mentioned on here, but we've drawn Brentford at home in the FA Youth Cup 4th round. Ties will take place on Saturday January 21st.
