Having read elsewhere on the site about poor stewarding and poor behaviour by Stoke fans, I thought I'd share my experience from yesterday. I attended the game with 2 friends and all was fine until about five minutes before kick off when we found ourselves suddenly pushed forward headlong with considerable force landing on people in the rows below us. This dramatic incident could have had serious, even tragic consequences. I was first to get back to my feet but still sustained several major bruises and contusions to my legs; one of these knocks swelled dramatically and really needed immediate icing. One of us had his leg trapped in the seat mechanism in the row below but with help extricated himself with nothing worse than a swollen ankle. Our third member collapsed to the floor, feeling dizzy but after a minute or two was able to stand up though he received several cuts and grazes which again should have been treated. We discovered that the cause was two idiots behind us who were clearly well under the influence of alcohol and who chose this inopportune moment to start fighting each other. Overbalancing they lurched into us with the consequences described above. How can such people be called Stoke fans? No apology was offered at any stage. Obviously the incident was not wholly the fault of the stadium team though maybe drunkards should be spotted and prevented from entry but it was truly shocking that there was no steward intervention whatsoever either in terms of offering/arranging medical help or of ejecting the perpetrators. In all the incident lasted about three minutes so there is no way that the nearby stewards could have missed seeing what happened, at least in part. We were located in Block 509 and therefore just a few seats and two rows from an entry/exit point where stewards were standing. I would ask what is the point of employing stewards if they do not react to such a serious incident. No steward approached any of us at any point. As well as the physical impact, we were all shocked and upset with the episode marring what should have been a great day despite the result! I am 64 and just 10 days ago had heart surgery so this was the last thing I needed. We all feel very aggrieved at not receiving help and support at a time when it was urgently needed. Clearly some of the stadium staff are neglectful and/or not up to the job and sad to say, at least a few Stoke fans are morons who don't deserve to be allowed to follow the best club in England.

Sorry to hear that, mjb - hope you and your friends' injuries heal quickly.
I witnessed the aftermath of an incident somewhere between blocks 515 and 514 (row 20'ish) just after kick off.
Dare say it was alcohol related and involved the innocent being told to f*** off for complaining about their behaviour...

There were many people that were really worse for wear, I'm amazed that some of them were allowed entry to the ground. As ever some people just see these occasions as an excuse to get off their faces. Beers are an important part of the matchday experience but to get so pissed/popped up that you can't remember/enjoy the game is something I'll never understand. When it impinges on other peoples enjoyment/experience it's simply unacceptable.

Down in the concourse of the upper tier at half time it was bedlam around ladies toilets The crush at one point became nearly dangerous and on moving further down it became apparent it was all because some were standing 4/5 deep drinking their beers and refusing to move. As alluded to earlier some seemed more bothered about getting bevvied up than anything else. Seems bizarre at Wembley prices as well!!

Well the Wembley 360 image is certainly helpful if you were a victim of violent or racist behaviour - you can work out the seat numbers and you can see their faces, use it...

Is there really any need to get people in trouble? They had a few to drink but to potentially get them banned from the footie is a bit much. Let it go.

Would you say that if you, or a member of your family, had been injured in such an incident?

well said mjb
I spent the whole match having a pissed f*ckwit in front of me continually stand up and gesticulate at nothing in particular. He was also off his face, ( must have been as 10 mins from time he shouted at Pugh to "f*cking pass it, Etherington, you useless c*nt" )
3 separate requests for him to stop standing up were met twice with glazed-over non-comprehension and the final time with "F-ck off, I've paid for my ticket"

If I am I apologize but some of the petty moaning on here is just well... petty. Some idiots are out of order sometimes but does it really deserve a ban from the footie?

I agree about the threatening kids. This dick should be banned for life! To be fair I don't know how the dad didn't punch the tosser. The racism thing I am not sure about. I 100% agree it isn't right but at the same time people say things in the heat of the moment.

So, Stafford, three senior Stoke fans are injured by the actions of two pissed-up, brawling low lifes and you're standing on the side of the latter. You don't get it, do you...

TBH the last thing I want is a fight at the age of 42 with my son watching. I was most annoyed at the end when he staggered past me and tried to shove me down the seats. Thanks to the lad behind who told him it was his fault for having his flag in my face and his mate who swapped seats with him...the man was a first class tool.

Getting totally pissed and fighting at Wembley in one of the biggest games in our long history is bad enough but injuring other Stoke fans in the process deserves a ban. Some people have no respect for anyone or anything, why should cunts like that have the privilege of watching our great team and ruining a fabulous day out for other Stoke fans.

Why are they low life's? Because they had a few to many? All I am saying is that things happen. If they had attacked these people then yes get them arrested/banned. They were just pissed and things got out of hand. It doesn't make it OK but do they deserve to be banned from the footie and a criminal record? I just don't think they do.

I suppose you would complain if someone smoked next to you? It's much worse when some soft twat has been unable to stop himself from slurping ale he can't handle, up and down like a brides nightie for constant pisses.

There we at least 2 pissed up tossers in the block i was in 519 row 20ish kept standing up spouting shite. I would hazard a guess that a 1000 or so 'fans' there in the potters end prob didnt know the players names or been to a match this season and the majority of these were prob the embarrasing pissed up idiots that caused the isolated trouble.

You really do not get it, do you? There is no excuse for drunken, violent, abusive behaviour in any situation, including football games. If people can't behave like reasonable, decent human beings in a public place, then yes, they should be banned, and preferably put on 24 hr curfew in fucking chains until they can learn how to behave.

there was 2 empty seats next to me in block 502 (well would have been if the bloke they moved out had been in the right seat and row ) , after about 25 minutes 2 lads turned up and then spent the next few minutes on the phones shouting to people at the other end that they were in the ground, they went at half time and never came back. 148 years to wait and they spent about 20 minutes in their seats ???
