My nan, she passed away the day before the semi final so it wasn't as good as it should have been but i think she helped in that 5-0 win to try and cheer me up and just maybe she had a hand in me getting face value tickets yesterday so that i could enjoy it better.

My Brother was killed serving his country. I shall be wearing the same shirt he wore when he went to see Stoke win the Autoglass trophy

She adopted Stoke as her team when they came down from up north so Grandad could work in the pits, will isn't making the trip down tomorrow but will be watching with her friends back home. Bless your hearts and love always.

I'm singing it for two tomorrow, my beloved dad who passed away nearly 25 years ago now, a life long Stokie and also for my Uncle Roy who went to many a game with my Dad from the pre-war years through to the 70's. When my dad could no longer go down due to ill health my Uncle Roy took me under his wing and we went to see the Potters together everywhere. He passed away a few years ago at the grand old age of 86.
How happy they both would be to see Stoke in an FA Cup Final, they never had the opportunity that I now have. That above all will gut me tomorrow when I belt out that Hymn, I have the privilege to be amongst the first ever group of Stokies to be present at an FA Cup Final.

My Dad As I said at his eulogy "but it was going to football matches together that I will most treasure, despite his habit of leaving before the end and an unsatisfactory need to watch a good game instead of a Stoke win. I did not understand that unselfishness of spirit and need for fair play that he had.
He died before the game against Ipswich in 2002, me and his grandson salute you.

My Dad took me to my first game in 1974. I remember watching from the corner between the Butler Street and Stoke End v Spurs in a night match. We drew 1-1. From that moment on I was hooked. Dad went with me until 2001 when he got Dimentia. He had that illness until February last year.
I used to visit him in the home and tell him how we were doing, and he would look at me with interest and I still think it was the only topic he understood.
When he died it cut me in two, but you have to keep a front on, and until this thread I've never told anyone about how much I really miss him.
He used to sing along to Abide with me every year on the telly, and I miss those days so much.
I Never ever thought I would see Stoke City in a FA Cup final. I just wish my Dad could have seen it.
At his funeral I picked the Hymn Abide with me, because I know how much he loved it.
I will sing it loud and proud for him and all the other Stokies who are with him in heaven tomorrow.
Thanks for this thread and RIP Dad.

Singing it mainly for my dad, forced the curse of Stoke City F.C. on me when I was 4 years old and I adopted mark stein as a father figure... just kidding dad ;D The final is also a day before what would be his 67th birthday. But will also spare a thought in the back of my mind for grandad leonard, nana and auntie irene, all big stokies and season ticket holders when they were with us. Will also spare a thought for my mum as well, although not a stokie by birth or even a football fan... cheers for putting up with our moaning every saturday at tea time mum Abide with me was sang at both their funerals so i'll probably be crying and looking like a dick in front of my mates ;D

For Dad who passed away suddenly from leukaemia 4 years ago. Little did you know those glory days you always talked about were about to return.
How you would have loved today.
Wish you were here.
