Now they've sensibly booted him out I suspect there will be some interesting stories coming out of the Vale over the next few weeks. The Vale lads at work are over the moon, wait until they hear that Steino is being lined up as his replacement!

I'm probably in the minority here but I genuinely feel sorry for the Vale fans.
Whilst I don't wish them success as such, its sad to see any football club being ran into the ground the way in which the Vale board are doing.
People from this area work hard and pay hard earned cash to watch their football club and to be treated like those Vale fans have been treated in recent months/years is disgraceful.
I honestly see the club disintegrating within a few years ala Chester, Wrexham if they don't sort this current mess out. Regardless of how much I hated the soap dodgers in the 90's and everything the fuckers stood for, I hate to see any football club go under.

I'm with your Ringo, we're giving it large about how we support our local team and then we want to see our other local club go down the tubes. It's hypocritical and just makes us look small time.

Spot on Ringo. The sacking could not of happened to a nicer cunt. Look at the amount of Man Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool/Arsenal tops batting around Stoke-On-Trent. How nice would it be to get a proper rivalry back with them? I would love it. They are a local club and have local fans- Same as Stoke. I hope they go up and establish themselves in League 1 and then they can really push on. If not, another Waterworld would be nice

I just remember how I felt when we had all of the boardroom issues and the 0-7 thrashings etc in the 90's. I was paying the hard earned cash to watch that shit as were many more and it felt as though you were burning money. We've had our fair share of shit down the years but nothing as unprofessional as this at the Vale. They really are turning into a Sunday league outfit in terms of how they're running the club.
Football fans don't deserve success.
Its not a given right to support a club and demand success. However, it should always be appreciated that supporters are the football club and that the supporters are with that club for much longer than a board room or a manager.
The board at Vale Park don't gibe a shit about its supporters which is a crime given how much people in this area pay to watch football.
In a time of credit crunches etc, you want your hard earned money that is spent at the football to be appreciated just like it is at our wonderful club at the moment. Any football supporter must have some sympathy for the Vale fans at present regardless of our rivalry.
Besides, Vale are local rivals but thats where the comparison ends. They are light years away from us and as someone posted earlier in this thread, are closer to Newcastle Town now than ourselves.

After appointing Foyle and Glover (obviously the cheapest option) without much success and Sinnot who was a minor disaster , they finally get it right with the appointment of Micky Adams, but when he leaves instead of appointing someone who could carry on the good work Adams had started , they go and appoint Gannon who besides being arrogant and vindictive has a completely different football strategy.
