because Howard would have save it? That is irelevant tho, if it would have been saved or not, it was on target. Was it bollocks it had fukkin snow on it!

What is the point of this thread? Anyone who has seen the goal knows it was a clear own goal. Jones just looped his header into the box before it was smashed in style into the back of the net. Fuller never got a touch. Can someone tell me if manofdunland is really a premiership referee judging by his poor vision and views of the rules. That is my point, Jones hit it, realistically it wouldnt have gone it, but what im talking about is that "technically" does it not count as a deflection of Jagielka's shoulder? Does anyone know what the actual rule book says? The fact that the defending player touches the ball last does not automatically mean that the goal is recorded as an own goal. Only if the ball would not have gone in the net but for the defending player would an own goal be credited. Thus a shot which is already "on target" would not be an own goal even if deflected by the defender. Then the attacker is awarded the goal, even if the shot would have otherwise been easily saved by the goalkeeper. Some scorers will give credit to the attacker if the defender's mistake caused the own goal, similar to ice hockey.only wikipedia, but it is a source of sorts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Own_goal#Association_footballYou've answered your own question there squire. No way was it going in otherwise. Is this a wind up?

It was an own goal, And does anybody who sits in the JSL hear a guy who shouts things to the linesman and backs the players because yesterday it was hilarious, He was shouting rory give the ball to Saha give him a chance and then he shouted Bilyaletdinov he looked and a group of lads included himself did the wanker sign to him. It was hilarious yesterday.

does it not count as a deflection of Jagielka's shoulder? l Seeing as Jones flicked the ball on and then Jagielka volleyed it into the roof of his own net, no it doesn't count as a deflection off Jagielkas shoulder. I think you need to watch the goal again, at no point does the ball a) look like going in from Jones flick b) touch Jagielka's shoulder We may as well give the goal to Fuller because he was stood closest to Jagielka when he booted it into his own net

Dit? And hit who's shoulder? Jones's shoulder or Jagielka's? Jones flicked it on and Jagielka full on twatted it into his own net I actually can't believe this is being questioned, it's unreal. I imagine you've questioned if Jones should be awarded his headed goal in the first half if you've been so dim as to question if the 2nd goal was an owl goal or not Jesus.Fucking.Wept.. Yes, I saw Harry Potters' bird fly down and deflect it into the net. Definitely an owl goal. ;D That's great work ;D ;D ;D

On a slightly different but related matter, did anyone think that Ric might have fouled Jagielka?

On a slightly different but related matter, did anyone think that Ric might have fouled Jagielka? I was sure it would have been disallowed and even paused waiting to hear the whistle before the score changed to 2-0 and then went mental!!!

So this was an own goal and Wilkinsons wasnt?
Both were on target efforts that as some one stated earlier, the defender "twated" in to the goal.

If Wilkinson hadn't touched the ball - It would definately of been a goal.
If Jagielka hadn't touched the ball - It wouldn't of been a goal (unless Fuller had poked it in)

the rules say it doesnt matter if it was realistically going to go past the keeper tho, as long as it would have rolled or bounced in, which both goals would have done.

I say its an own goal because the ball changed direction after Wilko touched it.

Any chance we can have 3 pages debating this one again? It did, after all, deflect off Phil "OG" Jagielka (again!)

I think it SHOULD go down as an OG to Jagielka. But then I'm a sucker for tradition. ;D
