Why not, we can't get any worse in central midfield.
and Rory's throw is past it's best.
We need to get JP and Ethers down by the goal lines crossing the ball into the box. They don't get that kind of distribution with the current CM pairing.

Thinking about it he's not one for chucking them in the shallow end either.

I agree with Bayern pretty much. His main issue is that he's been too slow on the ball leading to him to get robbed in possession in dangerous areas. I think he'll get his chance to show what he can do in the cardiff game and hopefully he can prove himself and get himself a strong run of games in the first team. I think that we are being a bit overcritical, every midfielder including Lampard, Scholes & Essien get caught with the ball and it's more difficult for anyone in our midfield because our formation is just not mobile enough and doesn't give them many forward passing options so they are more likely to get caught as they hold on to the ball waiting for players to get into position. His passing is obviously good but he puts too much pressure on us with his defensive frailties. TP can coach that into him though, lets just hope he doesn't coach the good things out. Probably true, Bayern, but the club is DESPERATE for someone to organize the midfield and create chances. IMO, we could sacrifice a small drop in defensive skill from Deano to Wilson to make it happen, at least at the Brit. It's at least worth giving him a run...

I wouldn't play Whitehead alongside him, Delap would have to play for me if Wilson was to play. He gives away the ball too close to goal, it worried the hell out of me and he did just need to hoof it just to get rid. His team mates lack of movement don't help mind.

That's what I said - I was talking about the drop from Deano TO Wilson if Wilson took his place in the lineup... If there's any two center backs in the country who I'd want backing up a player still adjusting to playing center mid, it's the two we have. I think it's time to give it a shot, particularly if January doesn't bring another solution.

Many apologies boston for being a fool! I'd be tempted too to do that and think Wilson should have been bought on at half time against Fulham for Whitehead. I think TP will be worried about their midfield and if Walters is fit, I reckon he'll play with Delap and Whitehead.

H Hardly being overcritical. Just saying it how i've seen it from the limited games he's had. I think that once he gets a bit quicker picking out the pass he'll be an excellent player but that doesn't stop me picking out his current faults, and what's evidently keeping him out of the team at the moment.

He reminds me a lot of Carrick. Think he'll definitely improve with a run in the side. Not the quickest, but the intelligence is there and could be the answer to pinging passes to the wingers we are looking for.

Wilson was used as defensive midfielder and centre back at Pompey. But he has a tendancy to get caught in possession and he looks better as an attacking midfielder in a Pulis set up and that means having a defensive midfielder behind him. Of our current midfielders Rory would seem the more logical partner for him than Whitehead or Whelan.
If we ever bought a top class defensive midfielder like Witsel then he would be the ideal foil to play behind Wilson. It may be that in time Wilson learns to hang on to the ball better but, until then, he should have the more advanced, creative role.

He clearly needs game time to get up to pace, but he seems to have far more ability on the ball and an eye for a pass than any of our other central midfielders.

This seems very plausible, especially as there seem to be rumours flying round that we're interested in Witsel. Where've you seen it, Lakeland?

Did Abdy play CDM for Bolton? I'm fairly sure he did, on occasion at least.

Wilsion needs to concentrate more when he has the ball as he keeps getting robbed of posession
guess he needs a run of games.

I have said this a few times on this forum' but as the New Year is tomorrow I want to go on the record to state: Wilson is a good Prem player who could become a poor man's Michael Carrick. I honestly believe he will be our most important Premier signing to date.

I like Wilson looks one for the future but no one can knock Rory surely.
