Although i am 99.9% certain we are too good to get dragged into a relegation dog fight i reckon the points tally required will behigher than the past couple of seasons. Is it just me that worries themself sick sometimes about getting relagated? A win and two draws by 5pm on new years day will help my nerves no end!

My guess is that 42p will guarantee safety, but 40p might be enough!

I think come the end we will be sound, it's going to be tight all over the league for most of the season especially from 6th position down and we may get close to the line once or twice but we'll finish comfortably yet again. West ham, wigan and birmingham for me to go down.

Looking at the previous 18 seasons of the Premier League from 1992-93 onwards, West Ham amassed the most points (42) in a 38-game season but were still relegated in 2002-03. On the other hand, 31 points would have seen a team safe last season. The average number of points for safety is around the 36 to 37 mark... www.myfootballfacts.com/PREMIER-LEAGUE-LADDERS-1992-2010.html

I think we need to see what happens in the transfer window. A couple of years ago, without the January signings of Beattie and Ethers, I believe we would have been in trouble. Right now you wonder about WHU and Wolves, being at the foot of the table.
My thoughts, pre-window, are that WHU are doomed. I think Blackburn are mismanaging their way to relegation, and Brum or Wigan will slug it out for the final place. Unless they all make some inspirational signings in January, they are going to have a torrid time until May.

Anyway, we will at least get 45p and probably more than 50 so we'll stay up of course! ;D

What is this, a site for doom and gloom merchants, and I'm just as bad ha ha. But seriously, the only way for us to be safe is to treat every single game like it is our cup final, and I mean every single game. No more Blackpool examples when we really believed we could only win this game, but Blackpool had other ideas. Come on Stoke, in their faces every single week, including this vital game at Blackburn.

West Ham wont go down the FA will see to that allowing them to operate and splash the cash around even when theyre 90m in debt. I think 40 points will be the cutoff point this year with Wolves adrift on about 30 then Blackburn. I still can see someone like WBA being dragged into it or possibly Wigan however I do think they get wins when most needed. A lot will depend on whether they can keep N'Zogbia, Roddi and Cleverley. If they lose 2 of those 3 they're in trouble.

which teams would that be wba geordies boro hull pompey or burnley i dont think any of those teams were better than ours Leeds for a start it aint about the 11 men put out on the pitch each week what about the manegment team from chairman to coach leeds can only dream of havin our backroom staff and team spirit well bowyer and wood gate took that a step too far newcastle another example if it aint right of the pitch the season they went down at the start of that season you would have swapped there team for ours

Nobody has mentioned Villa as possible relegation candidates, certainly showing relegation form at the moment. Our performances don't suggest we will be going down. For me it's Wolves,WHU and Birmingham City at the moment.

The bottom four clubs are on 16 - 18 points and we're now at the half way point so if you double them totals you're looking at 32-36 points. We have done pretty well in the first half of the season and are on 24 points so for West Ham or Wolves to reach 40 points they need to match what we've done!
Probably 38-39 points will keep you up this season as per usual.

Early on I thought it might be one of those years where a team with a high total (39+) gets relegated...but the more the season goes on, it looks like more and more like a typical year. I can't see a club with more than 35 going down.

We (Wolves) will go down on 31 points. West Ham and Blackpool will go down on 38 and Wigan will stay up with 39.

suppersimo I don't think you'll be far off. Despite being outplayed by Blackpool here I still think they'll hit the wall at some point in the season and will still be right down there at the end.
