Its has lots of high quality games and also stops the elite teams breaking away and forming a European super league.

With the group stage format, its just become a cash cow, which is a shame. Despite the fact that many people do not agree with the group stage format, the revenue it creates is always going to override what fans want. It would be improved vastly if it was a 2 leg knockout competition from the first round.

the champions league is brilliant but shouldn't be called that anymore cause teams like spurs can win it finishing 4th

I don't watch it until the quarters, the group games really bore me. And apparently the Valencia - Man Yoo game is awful so far.

Teams that win it now earn it, not always by playing the best football though as last season proved.

One bad game and you were out back then where as one bad gamer against a (third division standard) team and you've got another five games to make up for it and even if you don't you'll probably come second and qualify. Its all geared up to GUARANTEE the big boys are almost certain to go far. I used to look forward to European nightsd but can't remember the last time I* bothered watching any of it. Boring dross

shut up you muppet we won Is it not possible to play badly and win???????? Fucking hell - this board is getting terrible for idiocy and intolerance not saying that at all. i happened to have watched the game. although the first half was dire we were much better second half creating a good goal and hitting the bar a few times. Plus we won in what was a great result. I dont have any complaints about that

shut up you muppet we won Is it not possible to play badly and win???????? Fucking hell - this board is getting terrible for idiocy and intolerance Weird isn't it some Stoke 'fans' keep droning on about how bad we played yet today I met a Spurs Villa and Bolton fan having a break and talking football and when they saw me (they all know me) they ALL commented on how well Stoke played in the second half and that we lookied a very strong team. I know this doesn't fit the agenda of certain posters on here but thats the way neutrals see it!

If it was just champions you'd have TNS playing in it and Malta's champions etc and this would make it pointless imo

We did play well second half - my point was the fact that we won has no bearing on whether someone believes it was a poor game. Footballs a funny old game trebor. I've spoken to a few "neutrals" in my local and at work. Some take the view that you have reflected. Others have claimed that we were lucky (although a couple of these were man u "fans" so their views are invalid)

Boring dross Sorry mate but you're deluding yourself I watched a Forest team that I favored (they were my second team when Cloughie was manager) win and then retain the trophy without even playing any of the major European Superpowers and Madrid win it on about 5 consecutive occasions how else do you explain the fact that that sort of thing no longer happens.

The top 4 cup is pointless. Im one of those who watches hoping that the English clubs suffer a few injuries and get knocked out early by wank clubs. After that I dont care
