What was the wording of the link, pj?
I just caught the end of the 8 o'clock news bulletin on there, and heard Graham McGarry mention the words 'Diomansy Kamara' but missed the gist of what he'd said.

FM- It was just him throwing a name in really (in my eyes).
"Pulis is running out of time to get a new striker in. One player who he might go for is Fulham's Kamara..."

I guess it was a "name throwing in" excercise. Spoke about him not playing and only scoring once since his £6m move. They then immediately went onto speaking about fulham loanee Zak and Zak saying that he did not want to go back to fulham but would be happy to talk to stoke about staying. Surprising really has he has hardly started a game for us

To me, he would be a stonking good loan.
Of course, there will be all the; "can he play with... "or "how will he link with..."and "what will ( ) think about it...?" Going on but fook that, once again (shades of last season) we have needed a quality striker in since Christmas (& had we have had one - we would quite possibly have auto sewn up by now?)
So whoever it is, he is now officially late (let's hope not too late).
And if it is Kamara, then great, he murdered the CCC last year and could do it again no problem if we can get him.

I agree that TP must have been aware of the need for cover for injuries/suspensions/loss of form for Fuller and Sidibe for a long time.
He clearly does not fancy Porkin to be the answer any more, nor Pericard (thankfully!), so Gallagher and Bothroyd came in, but have hardly pulled up any trees (bit harsh on Jay given limited time he has been here).
Time is running out - we have a six game mini-season to win and have been poor for several weeks now. If we can raise our game and win 5 of them, including the Brizzle match, promotion will be ours. Surely that is worth splashing the cash on a proven Championship matchwinner like Diomansy Kamara?

Jay Bothroyd looked very impressive when he came on and showed great ability, but i think he should just fook Gallagher off, he had his big chance, and blew it, he bottles every challenge and cowardly pushes opponents instead of tackling them.
Impact player , nothing more, but Bothroyd could play a big part.

Senegal seem to be one of the few teams not playing a friendly in some far-flung corner of the world.
So at least that wouldn't mess up any deal in the next 48 hours.
But with Ipswich still apparently trying for Healy, I can't see them letting both of them out?

Depends what you mean "better" i guess SIOCH.
M'menza: seems more hussle & bussle & fire & brimstone than Kamara yes (dare i say more suited to TP's stereotyped forward) but not all that big (crucially under 6' i think) and, importantly, has proven to be not the coolest of heads under pressure?
Kamara: always seemed a class act with the pace & skill to burst open a defence at this level no problem. Again, an opinion, but always seemed a cool and clinical finisher to me.
Very "hitman"-esque in fact. Oh, hang on...
So depends what you want (and can beggars be choosers now at this late stage anyway?)

He has done it at a higher level, Kamara to me seems like a terrific champ player but Mpenza has scored goals for City and at one point was their main striker, he has a good skill aswell, so he's not all power. I think he would mold into this team better , but hey, i wouldn't complain with any loan signing at this moment in time!

To make any impact he's gonna need to get here sooner rather than later, we need to work aaard on a formation to win next week for sure!!

There is no doubting that Kamara would be awesome.
However, it is clear to everyone that we need a new striker. Whoever it may be (I am convinced we will get someone) get the deal done and allow him to train for a couple of days ahead of Saturday
Come on Stoke!!

To be fair, it does underline the difficulty of the situation, especially when every last man jack must be after the same or simlar players.
But, categorically, yes (as my post above suggests) we do need someone asap (as the guys above say, to get 'acclimatised' to the squad if nothing else) but he's also got to be right.
And while it will be no consolation at all if we fook it up now (to me anyway), we have come a long, long, way from the start of pre season when we gave the likes of Nathan Blake a trail remember.

i know, frightening eh?
Mpenza is even smaller though i think 5'10" or so if i remember his stats - & Grapey (FM) even had the temerity to call him a shorty (or similar) i think !

I'll believe it when he's running out at the Brit in a Stoke shirt, maybe Pulis sees him as another quality bench player and that's the stumbling block

They then immediately went onto speaking about fulham loanee Zak and Zak saying that he did not want to go back to fulham but would be happy to talk to stoke about staying. Surprising really has he has hardly started a game for us Zakuani plans to stop on at Stoke
On-loan Stoke defender Gabriel Zakuani has admitted he would like a permanent deal at the Britannia Stadium.
The 21-year-old, who is in his second loan spell with the Potters from Fulham, now believes his long term future could lie in Stoke-on-Trent.
"The gaffer said he'd like me here so I'll wait and see what happens in the summer," Zakuani told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Obviously Stoke would be my first choice but you always think where you will be wanted the most."
Zakuani, who first joined the Potters in January 2007, spent the remainder of last season at the Britannia.
He rejoined City for a second loan spell in August and will remain with Stoke until the end of the season.
"The best thing for me to do is to wait and see how the season pans out" said the Zaire international. "I'm happy here, but I'm also happy at Fulham so it's not a bad choice to be making.
"There's a few things for me to discuss, like how much they value me and how much I want to move, but basically I will be taking the best offer that comes along."
Any deal may yet be affected by the two sides' respective league positions come May.
As things stand, Stoke could be playing Premier League football next season. And, to add a significant touch of irony, they could well swap places along the way with Zakuani's parent club Fulham, who are 19th in the top flight and one of the bookies' leading favourites to go down.news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/stoke_city/7312996.stm

how's Zak enjoying it here if he never plays
can't see Kamara coming as why would Fulham want to get rid of any of their players when there in a relegation scrap, would love to see him here though!

hmmm I'm getting a bit if a deja vous feeling. I seem to remember a similar conversation last year, last may, xmas, february.
Sorry to disappoint you guys but this is where our pig headed manager lets himself down - everyone and his dog has seen we've needed a new leading striker for the past two years - but no our tone knows better. Like he did last year he'll stubbornly keep the faith with his best buddy's until it's all too late.
The funny thing is if we'd been short a centre half, well no problem there he'd just go out and loan one.
Sad, but sort of shows up our tone for what he is....

Troj:
sadly agree with you there but...the difference is surely that, this time he admits we want / need ano striker.
How hard he's really looking and whether we get one is ano matter of course.

It's in tomorrow's Daily Mail gossip column... Stoke are trying to sign Diomansy Kamara on loan from Fulham to boost their Championship promotion bid. Fulham are reluctant to let players go as the relegation battle intensifies in the Barclays Premier League, but the 27-year-old striker is frustrated at his lack of first-team action.IPSWICH and NORWICH are leading the chase for Newcastle's out-of-favour forward Shola Ameobi. MANCHESTER CITY striker Emile Mpenza has rejected loan moves to Leicester and Cardiff. The striker is no longer in Sven Goran Eriksson's plans but would prefer to make a permanent move www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=545308&in_page_id=1779

Daily Star are today reporting that Derby are willing to loose £2m by offloading Earnshaw. Would still prefer Kamara, especially after Earnie's miss at the weekend, how the heck did he miss that header that close to goal, seems to me that he is very low on confidence, something we really don't need. Kamara would feel like he needs to prove a point to Hodgson.

Troj you are a grade A prick. That post 'hmmm I'm getting a bit if a deja vous feeling' At the the end of the day mate whats the point in bringing in players who wont improve the team ? None whatsoever do you really believe in your stupid thick little mind that Pulis wouldn't jump at the chance if someone like kamara is available? Were you not happy when we signed Shawcross. TIT

Thanks BJR - throwing stones in glass houses buddy? Resorting to abuse rather than sensible debate.
Anyway, the fact is we've all known we've needed a striker for the last two years (on top of what we've got) - and one still hasn't arrived.
Would our tone sign one if they came available, of course he would...at the right price and as long as it didn't upset his buddy's.
You see my point is that our tone/pete should look at the situation now (as they should have done last season) and within reason put aside their personal caveats (above) to bust a gut and sign the striker we need to fire us into the prem.
To reiterate, just for you Big John, I 100% hope I'm wrong.
