Lovable Olly is really going to struggle, he keeps on about how they will pass their way to success and keep the ball.
They are going to get raped week in week out - could they fare worse than Derby?

Not sure it is, we strengthened and dug in making ourselves hard to beat, Blackpool will be going all out attack with League 1/Championship players. WBA failed miserably and they had players that were 100 times better than Blackpool's..

Trying to play the possession/passing game isn't going to work for them. It may work against the poor teams, like WBA, but you're not going to penetrate 90% of the Premiership defences playing that way with the players they have. Prime example is the aformentioned West Brom. They may be able to have more possession than some of the bottom clubs, but it'll all be backwards and square.

That is the same attitude that other fans had about us. People saw us as 1 dimensional hoofers, who had no household names in our side. There opinions soon changed when they began to see us play. We had 3-4 Premiership ready players, then strengthened with Sorro, Faye and Higgy which made us more solid. Blackpools only Prem ready player seems to be Marlon Harewood, who has been rotting for the last 2-3 years in Villas reserves

Derby got 15 points
unlike Derby Blaclpool showed last season that they have fantastic spirit & can 'play' & score goals
I do think they will ship a hell of a lot of goals though as such I think they will go down but I think at least 1 team (West Ham) will finish below them.

While its 11v11 they have a chance. I know nothing about the signings he's made.. they could be decent players and fit a system that keeps them up. They scored 3 v us last year and could have had more and they will play for 90 minutes. I hope they stay up even if its just to listen to TPs nutter of a mate.

You hope they have a plan to help them accumulate some home points. Big pitch/small pitch/long grass/ short grass/rohipnol in the opposition tea. I don't know, but something they can work around.
Cathcart/Adam/Harewood is approaching a decent spine.
You never know, the league is not quite as good as good as it thinks it is.

True RAF, but we still invested big money in Kitson and Olifinjana. Hoping they would be a improvement

I know Stoke 84-85 got a whopping 17 points BUT 1: we had 4 more games to play & get points 2:I dont care that we got more points having seen thats side I KNOW that side was FAR worse than any other top flight side since.

True RAF, but we still invested big money in Kitson and Olifinjana. Hoping they would be a improvement The point being they weren't at the time. Ollie has signed four players, all better than they had. I'm sure they will find it hard, but I wouldn't like to write them off before a ball has been kicked. Paddy Power did that and looked a bunch of cunts. H

H I dont think thats completely correct. Without Ethers and Beattie we'd already beaten Arsenal, Spurs, West Brom, 2 points vs Liverpool. I think the main reason our form picked up was the fantasitc run of winnable games we were handed post xmas Not denying it would have been a lot closer without them two but I still think we'd have stayed up in the end.

I might be wrong but I have a feeling about Blackpool I think they will surprise a few people, like many on here who have written them off don't forget how we were treated when we arrived as new boys and the snears of derision in our direction, let's not be as bad as all the rest we should know better. Don't forget the likes of Paddy Power paying out etc. If any team goes out thinking they have won a match before a ball has been kicked like some prem teams did against us then you already have an advantage. Hence how we seem to struggle against so called lesser teams in the cup.
They are not going to set the prem alight but they won't be like West Brom trying to play fancy football and failing, they will be more a backs against the wall type team. Let's not forget how hard it was just to reach the prem, no mean feat in itself.
Good Luck Blackpool!! I have a soft spot for them especially with Sir Stan as a link!

Every non Stokie and neutral said the same about us, i'd like to give them a chance, they have some okay players, I think we should help them out and sell them Kitson. He's going cheap as well, going rate of £0.14.

they will lose more than they win. i cant say yet whether they will stay up because i think that run of so many away games initially could really kill them if they dont get points.
however, play well at wigan today and they have a real chance, wigan are shite at the back. my biggest fear for them is defeat today could and next week they are at aresnal, could be 5 or 6 easily.

imho i can see them doing worse than derby, i hope im wrong because i like blackpool but they havent strengthened at all, the difference between them and us when we came up was we had a solid foundation and a manager that knows how grind out a result, i.e liverpool away. i think they may get a draw today but that will be a flash in the pan, they are goners
