Just back from Huddersfield and was suprised how few Stoke fans were there for our final Saturday Friendly prior to the big kick off.
Now I appreciate people are on a budget etc... but i wonder if the oppostion has something to do with the numbers who attended today.
If, as was rumoured earlier this summer but never materialised, we would have played celtic at the stadium of light I have no doubt that more people would have attended there than did today.
Do you think a pre season game against our local rivals would spur up the passion of our supporters and have a positive impact from the fans pre season?
I understand the police may have something to say about this but just wondered what peoples opinions were?

No Never going to happen anyway, Police wouldn't allow it in a zillion years. Imagine if Premiership Stoke lost to League 2 Pork Fail!
No thank you, some team I've never heard off would be preferable

No thank you, some team I've never heard off would be preferable its a pre-season friendly who care who lost to who ? it would bring more recognition to the city as well. the fact that a bunch of numbskulls would try and ruin it for everyone else ! give the cops a good way to round up the riff raff anyway !

No.
Just the memory of the stench is enough to make me heave. If I want a reminder of what Vale fans look like I can just look at a painting by Hogarth.

I'd hate it personally, always hated derby games, and also, the only team with anything to lose nowadays would be us.
As for the comment "who cares who lost to who"
It's us versus them mate, i think everyone SHOULD and WOULD care who won or lost it.

I remember the season in the 90's when the Vaigrants from the north of the city were a division above us.
I worked with a particularly obnoxious Vale fan who reminded me on a daily basis that they were the "No1 team in the city"!!
I'll lose no sleep if we never played them again.

no benefit to Stoke in playing Vale whatsoever
if we win every says so what.
& of course if we dont win its a disaster

No - there is nothing in it for Stoke except the possibility of injuries to players from adrenalin fueled donkies & our fans getting a bad reputation when the inevitable fighting breaks out before & after the game.

We played a game against Fail in the 70s all they wanted to do was kick lumps out of us and the game was meant to help them out !!!!!! Sod them let them struggle

the answer should be yes but friendly or no friendly theres always going to be the chance of a big ruck. it's a shame really the only chance we have of playing them is in the league/f.a cup!

And make the highlight of their year being able to kick lumps out of our players? No thanks.
Maybe our reserve side, which should be enough to wipe the floor with 'em anyway, but not our 'big guns'.

No, if we won its hardly worth bragging about, and if we lost, well, you know what those thick twats are like, they'd be bragging for the next 10 years that they were the best team in Stoke. They'd gain a lot of money and probably injure half our first team in the process.

No thank you, some team I've never heard off would be preferable "Police wouldnt allow it", what a load of absolute crap. 28,000 for a premiership game against Birmingham for example and about 5000-10000 for a vale/stoke friendly, work it out. Its about time we started to concentrate on people who want to watch football not let thugs spolit it

No, if we play them, I'd like it to be a competative match, something that means something, not just a boring old friendly.

Yes.......no........yes......no......erm.....oh i dont know!!! We should play an annual friendly against Norton Utd at Community Drive and we should play our full 1st team/squad as well, purely because i could walk to the game and even pop home at half time if wanted to.

Absolutely not. There would be some crunching tackles as the Fail seek to take out their jealousy on their illustrious neighbours resulting in injuries we do not need.
This fixture would be of no financial benefit to us either. Its a no win situation for Stoke so lets forget that one.

Why? Pre season games are about fitness unless you're playing in one of the big money tournaments.
I often wonder why so many want big name fixtures pre season.........it's about bedding in new players ( if you have any) giving trials to players and most of all getting players right for the opening games.
Would be a completely pointless excercise
