No. The fact is the sperm hasn't yet fertilised the egg. Once it meets the egg, THEN it becomes life. To say that every wank is murder is a stupid (but funny ;D) thing to say I agree because obviosuly an egg isn't fertilised every time during intercourse. I'm saying that once something comes together (sperm and egg) life begins. What I find hard to understand is how a foetus at one week under the abortion limit (if you like) is any less of a life than one after. How is that a stupid thing to say? Surely not using those sperm for sex "interferes with God's plan" just like contraception supposedly does according to the Church

Right, how the hell am I forcing my opinions on everyone Jay? I'm clearly stating opinion. Get a grip. What's everyone's issue with it? The Catholic Church helps and comforts people, there's paedophile's everywhere. Admittedly it's a big issue but it will be dealt with I guarantee it. Banning the catholic church wouldn't help anyway, the priests would still be paedo's!!
In my opinion abortion is murder. I'm not forcing it upon anyone and I don't know why anyone would think I am! And bondy even if I had kids I would still think abortion is murder to be honest.

When does life become 'life' though? Surely from that very moment the sperm meets the egg, it creates a living thing. They're searching for life on Mars. Do you think if they find some sort of bacteria there, they'll simply dismiss it saying 'it's not life, it's only tiny and not worth bothering with'. Any sort of abortion is a kind of murder in my opinion. I don't see how you can argue that it isn't. OK, so how far back do we take it? With the logic on show here, surley any sperm that is wasted is wrong so every wank is murder, because those sperm 'could' have fertilised an egg, become a cell, developed into a foetus and become a baby? Oh and heres a doozy for the god squad.... www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hObTWdaGAU_0O_dQ1NFJUVO9ZYoQD9GIE2P00The pain is irrelevant. Sperm is not a fertilised egg to become a human being, a sperm has no soul. Millions of sperm are attempting to fertilise the egg during sex, so millions die so don't be stupid. Condoms and sex outside marriage is fine by me to be honest. Abortion as it is murder to me however is a mortal sin.

Catholicism (and therefore the rest of Christianity) is just Sun Worship repackaged in an oppressive and supressive form.

It's your opinion based on religious ideology. Cool. I hope it keeps you at peace. Personally, I don't care if your Buddhist, Sikh, Christian or Muslim. It's irrelevant. It's a statement of fact that the Vatican has been defending child abuse for centuries. If you don't like abortion, then don't have sex with your girlfriend until you get married either. Double standards, again? ;D

The truth lies somewhere in between.
Abortion is not murder and The Vatican has NOT been defending child abuse for centuries.
I think a more apropriate word would be IGNORING....

I think a more apropriate word would be IGNORING.... Whats the difference? If somebody is aware that a child is being abused and, not only does nothing to prevent it, but activley covers it up and protects the person commiting the abuse, they are lowlife scum. They are almost as low as the person doing it.

Condoms and sex outside marriage is fine by me to be honest. Abortion as it is murder to me however is a mortal sin. Two points here where any religious argument falls on its arse. True a sperm has no soul because there is no such thing as a 'soul'. Human life is an anomoly. Created by a series of infinateley remote coninsidences then developed through evolution. We develop in the womb to a point where we can survive outside it, we live then we die. Sometimes the body we used can be used to provide spare parts for other the rest is no longer needed. The nearest thing to a 'soul' we have is the effect we have on others and the way our lives are remembered by those who knew and loved us. There is no little winged being that flies out of us on death and goes up to heaven. Second point. If religion is so important, why do people pick and choose the bits of it they want to follow and ignore the bits that do not suit them? If you are a catholic and believe abortion is wrong because of your religion, how can you say contraception is ok when your religion says it is not?

Birth Control In 1968, Pope Paul VI issued his landmark encyclical letter Humanae Vitae (Latin, "Human Life"), which reemphasized the Church’s constant teaching that it is always intrinsically wrong to use contraception to prevent new human beings from coming into existence. Contraception is "any action which, either in anticipation of the conjugal act [sexual intercourse], or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible" (Humanae Vitae 14). This includes sterilization, condoms and other barrier methods, spermicides, coitus interruptus (withdrawal method), the Pill, and all other such methods. if you use contraception you are going against your religion?

I'm aware of that, I just feel that abortion is murder and would never advocate killing a human being or child. I don't follow or believe in everything the church says, I've said that earlier, I just feel strongly against abortion.

England has the highest Paedophilia cases per head in the world Bloody hell, I didn't know that. Mind you might also say we're the most hysterical country about it, and it's been our fashionable witch hunt of choice for the post few years (and I'm saying that as a mother). Would be Mexico but they changed thesge limit to legally have sex at thirteen years old

In my eyes, abortion is a mortal sin. Contraception however, isn't. Good shout. My opinion on that isn't even to do with God or anything, more of a repulsion at legalised murder. I'd sterilise any woman who wants an abortion (assuming her life isn't at risk from childbirth).

Not really, I'll just use contraception. Who are you to pick and choose which of "God's laws" you want to follow? Who are you to pick and choose which of "Pulis' laws' you want to follow? You support Stoke but I bet you don't blindly accept and agree with everything Pulis does and preaches. Just like Rhodesy and I don't agree with or accept everything the Catholic Church teaches. The Catholic Church is there to advise people on how to live a better life. It is not a dictatorship as maybe some other religions try to apppear, it is a demoniation of Christianity which uses Jesus' teachings as a foundation on which followers should observe throughout life. You'll never get any organisation in which every single follower agrees with it's decisions and rules. Some people need to open their eyes, stop taking things like the bible so literally and take a more modern, sensible approach.

^ I couldn't have put it any better than Father Ted.
It's not a strict set of rules that you HAVE to abide by; how can it be when one of the basic beliefs of the institution is that each person has been given the gift of Free Will, and a sense of conscience?
All's it is is a set of guidelines to help you when you're unsure of the moral implications of an act or an omission of an act.
Yes, it has been exploited by corrupt men; it can't be completely pure, because every man is fallible and no one man is perfect. People have exploited it for power in the past but that's hardly true today, and there are paedophiles as priests, but it's not the Catholic Church that's turned them into paedophiles (no matter how objectionable the covering-up has been) but the Church is bigger than the Pope, and it's bigger than the Vatican. It's only a small proportion, are you seriously saying that a billion Catholics worldwide are sympathisers to rapists? Bollocks.
