Today we have got a point against the team who immediatly threaten our current position. We would have all taken a point before the game and we achieved that today. When teams go down to 10 men it often galvanises them. I am sick of hearing the doom and gloom merchants saying we didnt do this or that blah blah blah. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE WITH 7 GAMES TO GO! Lets get behind the team and the club and shout us to promotion. Yes your entitled to your opinion but if all you can do is moan then fuck off and do it somewhere else. Back the club to the promised land.

It was a shit game though! H Nobody wants to hear the truth on this message board anymore. It's become like North Korea on here. Back the Glorious Leader or die. It doesn't matter that yesterday's game was, and it REALLY was, dire or that we didn't have one single attempt on target throughout the entire game, or that made no effort whatsoever to win a game against ten men. It also doesn't matter that we've scored two goals in the last five games and not played well in a single one of those games. It only matters that we're top and that other teams have failed enough to put us there. Anybody who dares to doubt that poor football and two goals in five games may not get us to where we all want to go is seized upon by the Glorious Leader's party faithful and denounced as a "Moaning bastard". It doesn't matter that any of the concerns are raise because fans actually care about their club passionately and only want the very best for it. That doesn't matter at all. If you dare to speak even one negative thing, or raise one genuine concern, about our the Glorious Leader or his team then you can "Fuck off up the Vale"! In the land of the Happy Clappers no dissent is allowed. And don't forget whose fault it is if this does all go tits-up this season... that's right, it's OUR fault and the Glorious Leader's Party Faithful (usually the one who DON'T go to the games) will be very quick to tell you that it's the fans who let the team down! Death to all independent thought and freedom of speech!!!

SGS, all you saw yesterday was the net effect on the league table from the comfort of your armchair. You didn't witness the lack of ambition, fight or quality when the game was utterly there for the taking after SJE's dismissal.
Yes, I am entitled to my opinion and, yes, I will continue to fuck off to away matches if that's alright with you?

Smudge....a great reply to a post that i also am sick and tired of seeing on here.Yes,before the game we would of accepted a point....but the fact is that all three points were there for the taking today.Me and my son sat through the game and both agree that it was totally dire.We got back on the coach after the game and it was so quiet on there you'd have thought we had lost !.....people on there obviously realise how poor we were.I personally am pleased that Fuller is now banned as his contribution today was zero....people around us actually started to give him some stick (we were 4 rows from the front) and i thought it shocked him...it didn't make any difference though.True,we are top,but if we do go up we will need 20 new players,no one on that pitch was good enough for the Premiership.

Before the game most of us would have settled for a point. BUT not creating anything substantial in 70 minutes agaiunst ten men indicates issues to be addressed. We dodged a bullet too with the penno save.
Attacking wise our players are too static. When balls drop in attacks...often after a throw in or corner we never win the second ball. Overall our attacking play is too predictable and with no movement we're prettty easy to stifle.
There isn't enough pace in the team. Cresswell isn't too bad on the ball BUT lacks the pace to beat a man. If he gets the ball down and cuts inside it'll be better because running diagonally at goal we can drag their defence all over the place. BUT it needs players to MOVE towards him to receive the ball and we can keep possession. Fuller had the ball several times on the edge of their box and ran into brick walls. Where were the runners to back him up and provide options?
MOVEMENT MOVEMENT MOVEMENT Our atatcking needs more fluidity.

All true posts. But lads, let's take the positives. We got a point and are on top. We seem to have a tidy goalkeeper in Nash, and we've still got time to bring someone in. All the other games went our way. We kept a clean sheet. We've got some decent cover in for upcoming suspensions. Our goals for is the second best in the division, and our goal difference is good. Sounded bloody awful on the radio, and by all accounts was, but that's the way it is at the moment. Looking over all the season though, and it's been more ups than downs, and we can still do it. We are the envy of a lot of teams in the division, many of them more fancied at the start of the season. True, they all complain about our style of football, but that really is unimportant at the moment, and a lot of it sour grapes because they can't beast us, only promotion matters.

lancer, make no mistake if TP sets out a similar stall for our remaining games we will scrape through at best but are more likely to enter the play-off lottery.

Is it a contradiction to be delighted at a point away against the team in third, but also bemoan the direness of the football played against 10 men?

I did not witness the performance in person, and it did sound as if it was the battle of the Alamo. We let them attack us.
Let's get a dose of reality here, the objective (to me atleast) has always been to avoid defeat at Watford and beat Brizzle. Yesterday TP set his stall out fo just that, even against 10 men he did not want to get caught with a sucker punch, and lets face it we've seen that too often in the last few weeks!!
We are top of the league on goal difference, our next BIG match is to get a win against Brizzle.
We know in our heart of hearts that the side is not good enough to sustain a run in the Premiership, but lets get there first and build, being top of the league this late in the season the best way of ensuring we get there

Death to all independent thought and freedom of speech!!! Smudge; of course people are entitled to their opinion. Of course we all want what is best for the club etc. My point in case was that we are top of the table and that all we seem to do as fans is moan about this and that and how we played etc. When we got a point, a late one vs Burnley, who would have taken top spot a week later facing what was two very tricky away games at Norwich and Watford, who were 3rd in the table. Anybody that says they wouldnt is a liar. What do we get? People moaning about it. Incredible. Of course dissent is allowed. I was on of the worst after our 1st half performance against scunny but the 2nd half changed my opinion and I took my hat off to the team. I still hold the opinion though that the 1stg half in that game ws unacceptable. Dissent is allowed, criticism is allowed, dont get hung up on this. However, what I find most disheartening is that we continue to moan about things even when we are top of the table coming off the back of a very good point vs 3rd place. SGS

Yesterday, I didnt attend. Wasnt able to. However, by all accounts, we were poor and didnt take advantage of their 10 men. However, performances at this late stage come second to results. You get slated by the hierarchy on this board for daring to point out that you are sick and tired of the moaning of some fans despite being top of the table. It also appears that some are of the opinion that you cant comment if you didnt go.

The basic problem is that this here messageboard allows you to make anonymous comments from the safety of your home. Consequently, it soon degenerates into a slanging match cos there's no comeback.
These 'debates' could be had down the pub and it would essentially be the same argument but without words like knobhead, you prick, tosser thrown in at the end.
For what it's worth, Smudge and others are right to point out that we're not playing well at the moment, the division is mediocre and we'll need to spend a fortune to compete week in week out (not just one-off cup games eg Barnsley) in the top flight BUT I still want us to go up cos that's what football and loving your club is all about. Let's face it we've been around for 140 odd years now and won how many promotions? Ten or so?
I guess what I'm saying is a bit more tolerance would be nice!

OK mate, 'unita fortior' and all that...
My take on supporters like you is that to hear anything negative upsets your belief that we will make it and that it's safer to ignore the truth and bury your head.
I want what you want but I won't delude myself when we come up short.
Go on Stoke...
PS. I'm going to unlock my horns now and wish you a very relaxed Sunday

However, I find it a little annoying when these fans come on radio stoke etc and moan their bags off. I was only saying last night when out that we really should have won the game and taken advantage but at least we got a point. A case of half full than half empty. As you say, we all want the same thing mate. SGS
