Well I was there and it was a shit game. It doesn't mean I'm not as delighted as anyone else that we are top, but for fucks sake, it is allowed to show that you weren't happy with the performance. If people don't like that, tough shit.

SGS totally agree mate bunch of moaners including smudge!! Would you prefer us to reduce the board down to one thread where people can simply leave their congratulatory messages and print the league table underneath it? After all, there cannot be anything else to discuss can there?

It was a shit game though! H Nobody wants to hear the truth on this message board anymore. It's become like North Korea on here. Back the Glorious Leader or die. It doesn't matter that yesterday's game was, and it REALLY was, dire or that we didn't have one single attempt on target throughout the entire game, or that made no effort whatsoever to win a game against ten men. It also doesn't matter that we've scored two goals in the last five games and not played well in a single one of those games. It only matters that we're top and that other teams have failed enough to put us there. Anybody who dares to doubt that poor football and two goals in five games may not get us to where we all want to go is seized upon by the Glorious Leader's party faithful and denounced as a "Moaning bastard". It doesn't matter that any of the concerns are raise because fans actually care about their club passionately and only want the very best for it. That doesn't matter at all. If you dare to speak even one negative thing, or raise one genuine concern, about our the Glorious Leader or his team then you can "Fuck off up the Vale"! In the land of the Happy Clappers no dissent is allowed. And don't forget whose fault it is if this does all go tits-up this season... that's right, it's OUR fault and the Glorious Leader's Party Faithful (usually the one who DON'T go to the games) will be very quick to tell you that it's the fans who let the team down! Death to all independent thought and freedom of speech!!! Absolutely fantastic post Smudge. The truth cannot be taken by the rimmers, this leads to no debate and if You think we played poorly You are afraid to say so because You know You will be labelled as anti Stoke. Quite frankly that's a load of bollocks. The fact of the matter is, the only man that got us where we are is TP for which he should be praised. But the only man who can fuck it is TP too. He needs to be less cautious and play for the win. The bloke really scares me and I have no faith in him currently in this run in-he's too stubborn-ala QPR last season.

Its not the criticism of tactics that winds people up its the way in which it is put across, often bordering on personal abuse of the manager with all the old predudices coming out; ie stick to football and keep the personal comments out of it.

The worrying thing is having listened to Tony on P&G, he claimed that he had set the team up to "go for it". I've spoken to three different people who went this morning, and all of them have said we went for a point and that is what we got.
I've had a bit of a turnaround with regard to my opinions of the manager recently, but I've always had concerns that our cautious approach might return once the pressure started telling, and could end up being our undoing.
We really need another striker in early this week, because we are not scoring goals, and TP clearly doesn't fancy Gallagher for 90 minutes.
All that aside though it feels fantastic to be top of the table. I have to keep checking it because it doesn't seem real.

Alot of people on this board would love it if we miss out this season because of their personel agenda against Pulis and mainly the people that run this board despite their support for the club.

I don't think anybody minds criticism of tactics or players performances made in a constructive manner. Its when the comments degrade into personal insults and raking up of past predudices particuarly with Tony.
Is it just the managers fault that we couldn't beat ten men when himself has clearly said that he doesn't undestand why we played so poorly. Could the players themselves have been jaded after playing four out of five games away, or maybe Watford at home are a far better team than we give them credit for?

I’m never afraid of the truth, however just because I have always disliked Pulis hasn’t stopped me attending many many Stoke matches home and away and not once have I jeered or booed the team, not once have I been less that gutted if we’ve lost. I have met a couple of the admin off this board and if you think for one minute they feel any different then you really are a bigger goon that I first mistook you for.

Humble pie coming to alot of people on May4th. No you're mistaken every Stoke supporter I've met (regardless of their opinion of Pulis) wants Stoke to get promoted, there are quite a few who I know who share a similar opinion of Pulis as I do, I support Stoke City not Tony Pulis. So when we get promoted ther'll be no humble pie for me to eat I'll just carry on doing what I've been doing for decades and supporting my team my opinion of Pulis will always remain the same though.

thing is if we had gone for it yesterday those extra 2 points would of made a hell of a difference. Tone just seemed too bothered about not losing...and he was right to think that, but when they went down to 10 men they were there for the taking. We aren't creating enough at the moment and fans are rightly pee'd off, then again we are top the league and fans are rightly chuffed.
Too many people on this board are either too pro or too anti Pulis when he fks up. We would be a lot happier if we met in the middle.

It's not a great surprise that these poor performances happen is it. Its a historical thing with TP's management. I went the Brizzle City match this season and we were piss poor. There are things in this team that have needed addressing the most important was the leaking goals. I have a feeling unless he goes out and gets a nippy winger and striker the likes of the Watford away match may just be the deployed plan till the end of the season it is almost a reverse type of a relegation situation and TP knows that his averages in this have worked for him in the past. All I can say is if he fucks it up he really only has himself to blame. If I had gone yesterday I would of been pissed off at the lack attempts on goal but would of as most have, taken the point.

dazthestokie69 - spot on. I find it absolutely astonishing that posters can actually believe that people who fork out hundreds of pounds and attend every match do so in the hope that Stoke will lose, just to satisfy some imaginary agenda. Fuck me, Pinocchio could spend all night outside in the rain and his mind wouldn't be as warped as some people on here!

Well I listen to every Satdee game in me tractor. If we are shit I nearly crash it in disgust and if we win and play well, I nearly crash it in excitement. I think everyone would of settled for a point yesterday, me included, yes? BUT after the sending off, people surely assumed we would have a real go at getting the three points which would have made the table look even better than it is given the amount of games remaining. So it just comes down to:- 1) Are you more satisfied with a point which everyone would of settled for. 2) Are you more pissed off with the two extra points we MIGHT have got, had we gone for the win. Being a football fan is all about opinions and they do differ. At the end of the season if we gain promotion by a single point, those who chose Answer 1) can say " I told you so" At the end of the season if we fail to get promotion by a single point, those who chose Answer 2) can say " I told you so".
