Its my litte girls 3rd birthday tomorrow and we have booked tickets to take her to see boogie beebies live in manchester, as she kept telling us she wanted to got to the theatre for her birthday, but yesterday she came up with spots and today she is covered in them. Its definatley chicken pox but after a good lie in this morning she has been her usual self and still wants to go. Heres the issue, would it be wrong for us to take her and try to sit away from other kids ( our tickets are in a block where there are only 6 seats and there are 3 of us) or should we stay at home, lose nearly £60 in train and tickes and ruin her birthday? what would the oatcake do?

Take her................they need to get it now anyway. You are doing them a favour, they dont want Shingles when they are older, they should be thanking you

Stay at home tell her She is possessed by The Pox. Then burnt the tickets, paint a red X on the door and wait

This my friend is a case for FANCY DRESS MOTHERFUCKER There are different coloured spots on the back ground there so paint her as a traffic light. Oh ahh don't forget to douse her in calemine lotion. The same amount as you would use petrol for 12 gippo caravans.

I seem to recall something about not being contagious after the spots have started to scab.. give me a sec
Yep, its too soon to take her out Im afraid:
Patients are contagious up to five days (more commonly, one to two days) before and five days after the date that their rash appears. When the sores have crusted over, the person is usually no longer contagious.
Chicken Pox can be lethal to pregnant women so better to stay away mate sorry.

Nonsense....GO! It's too late now, let the little un enjoy themselves...didn't stop kids turning up with measles, chicken pox or head lice at my childrens' nursery or mine wouldn't have caught them, would they? Pregnant women should know to avoid collective children gatherings as meningitis is far worse....children present risks of infection or illness daily...what do you do? Lock yourself in a room until they are 18..FFS

sorry shell have to disagree, I'm not into left wing mamby pamby bollocks, but knowing your child is still in the contagious state is just not on, same with measels, especially in somewhere like a theatre, it's not fair on other people . Most chicken pox is spread when the symptons are not showing, so there isn't a lot you can do about it, and just about all schools insist children are kept away until the spots scab when it is known the pox is active.

Pile of shit NS...this child was contagious long before today....my mother put us all (3 girls under 5) in a room together to play, so that we'd get it together...why are people so precious about childhood illnesses? We've all had them FFS This little girl has the spots...it's TOO LATE!!!! Why spoil her birthday?

We've all had them FFS This little girl has the spots...it's TOO LATE!!!! Why spoil her birthday? Because it could spoil the birthdays of lots of other kids, or in the case of a pregnant woman, could "spoil" a damn sight more. Added to that, there are lots of people out there, that aren't pregnant, who have illnesses where chicken pox would be very serious indeed. Completely unfair on other people to take her, especially in a theatre environment, sorry mate.

why possibly spoil somebody else's life though ? As I said, it's because they know the child is contagious, surely a morale responsibility in there somewhere?
I shared a room with my two brothers, unfortunatley my eldest brother had shingles 'chicken pox 2nd time around' quite badly, my mum had to sleep on our bedroom floor as he was in sheer agony for days as it affected the nervous system and twice stopped breathing, not nice to see.

When i was pregnant last time ( I have 2 children 10 years apart) I avoided situations that involved collective pre-school children....it isn't very difficult

www.familyhealthguide.co.uk/chicken-pox.htmlThink we would go to the show (we have 3 nippers under 9) Most children will get it at some point and nearly all adults have had it - there is a risk of pregnant mums getting it but there is also a risk in driving to the show in the 1st place. ???

So the 3 nurseries my children have passed through have a misinformed OFSTED Child Illness policy then? I only mention it as they have all had very clear and regimented policies on when they are allowed to attend having contracted chickenpox

Keep her at home, there could be old people there who could catch it and die. I'm not into namby pamby bollocks either, but knowingly putting other people at risk is plainly not on at all.

I'd probably go for a "stay at home" vote as you now know that you could be passing it on to people whom it could have adverse effect upon. Having said that, if we were all never exposed to such bugs and alike we'd have no immunity whatsoever and be far worse off.
Just go and put a big "I've got chicken pox" sign on her.

Think that it's time to bring back confinement for pregnant women to solve this problem once and for all. Think that's what Shell was hinting at Then again, why stop at pregnancy?

Good idea, or temporary sterilization would be better for the whole world. At least for a few years. Otherwise it won't be long before there's nowhere to hide from these nasty bugs

I caught chicken pox from my god son last year. As I'd not had it as a kid I stayed away from him until his spots had almost disappeared but to no avail. As an adult it's bloody horrendous.
If they saw her spots thety may not even let you in.
