Lets see ......pay £15Mill for Jones or Cole then £40k a week or pay £6m for Zigic then £60k a week. You do the math. There is NO WAY that Stoke would pay anything like £15 million for Jones or Cole. Nice try though. If we are being realistic there is no way they will play for £40k a week either. So we need a striker who will get us 15 to 20 goals a season for 3-5 Mill and on 20K a week. Whats our scouting like in Albania??

I'm prepared to hold fire until I actually see what happens but I'd be lying if I wasn't beginning to fear we could be in for another weird and wonderful transfer window.... Obviously we won't be doing anything while TP has been away doing his excellent work for charity. Once TP returns no doubt our CEO will be off camping somewhere in Wales or wherever it is he goes to (Jesus man you must be on over £80k a year, get a sodding hotel!) As soon as TS returns, TP and the team will be off to Austria and we all know we don't sign players when he's out there (despite him saying it's ok as TS is back home working hard!) Finally once we have everyone back in sunny Stoke we can start to sign whoever hasn't already moved. Rumours will abound that TP has long been an admirer of Chris Morgan from Sheff Utd and sees him as a solution to our issues at right back. There, it's easy really; the transfer window made simple! In all seriousness it is still really early days and I'm sure we've got plenty to go at. Realistically we need to shed some players before we can put pen to paper on new ones (PC has said as much) and despite being in a very solid financial position with the 25 player rule, we simply have to trim the squad before we start to bring in the cavalry. I desperately hope we can do some serious business this summer and I will reserve judgement until the first game of the new season.

I can't believe so many people are experts in International football transfers ! YouTube has a lot to answer for. Why? Is it difficult to watch Spanish football in the UK? Difficult to do anything if your on a MB ALL of the time

I’m inclined to agree with Jamo.
A few on here appear on the verge of wrist-slashing because “SkySports Understands….”.
Lets wait and see what happens first. We don’t even know if he’ll go to Brum yet and if he does go we have no idea what the finances involved are. We also do not know if we have others lined up.
There are too many variables at this stage to jump off a cliff about it.
We’re not even in June yet and already some are despairing.
Lets at least wait until the end of July before we contemplate mass suicide.
And trust me, when that time comes, I will be leading the way!!!
Keep your powder dry.

I will say one thing, Brum don't piss about in these windows. As soon as the last ball is kicked at the end of the season they are off and at it !

Ok, so lets say we sign Zigic for 6m on a 3yr deal at 60k/week making the deal 15m overall or Jones for 12m on a 3yr deal for 40k/week making the deal 18m overall
Jones would walk straight into the Mama role, is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and more importantly has a resale value being only 25yrs old and previous suitors including the likes of Liverpool could be a destination, if he did well or even if Pulis nutted him we would get the money back and even make a decent profit.
Zigic is unproven in the Prem, and has little resale value, as you would have to give him a year to see how he gets on, after that year if you want to get shut, you are left with a 30yr old failed striker who nobody has taken a chance on for the last 2yrs, or worse still, he will sit on his contract meaning no resale whatsoever.
I’m all for the gamble myself but lets not kid ourselves that we are able to throw such money about willy nilly, buy Zigic, give ethers what he wants, it all costs money and leads to more players wanting more, Pulis and Coates have to think about that. The abuse and name calling because we don’t want to sign a player is laughable, and all over a 29yr old Serbian who has never played over here, but as we don’t want him it’s “typical useless Stoke” – it’s pathetic.

We're not going to sign Jones are we?
Zigic is an attainable middle of the road of the signing.

How do you know he is obtainable?
How do you know we haven’t enquired and he isn’t interested?
Maybe he wants to link up with Scott Dann and Lee Bowyer?

Crouch Jones Cole Carroll Carew Zamora Davies Heskey Fletcher
How many of this lot are realistic?
Heskey and Fletcher maybe?
And the raw Fletcher is being touted at £6-7m. And I bet even Emile would cost £2m+ and £40-50k-a-week for 2 years, with no resale.
After them, it looks like the domestic target man pool is exhausted.

If we signed anyone for £60k per wk. No doubt matty/ric would want to match it or come within it. Then rest of the squad would want improved contracts. So it isn't just 1 players wage to think about, it will affect your whole wage structure.

He is attainable because Birmingham are after him. We haven't enquired about him because DV's hasn't told us. And why wouldn't he?

We're not going to sign Jones are we? Zigic is an attainable middle of the road of the signing. And I'm not sure Jones "would walk into the Mama role" either. People's descriptions about this mythical role seem to revolve around work rate (not completely convinced myself) and I'm therefore assuming people have forgotten just what an idle fecker KJ is. Perhaps the use of the term "walk into the Mama role" has more resonance than I first thought!

For what it`s worth, my two penneth on this is:
1. He hasn`t signed for anyone yet, and if Brum are prepared to pay 60k a week then fair play to them.
2. From what I`ve seen, hes not that good anyway.

Ok, so lets say we sign Zigic for 6m on a 3yr deal at 60k/week making the deal 9m overall or Jones for 12m on a 3yr deal for 40k/week making the deal 14m overall Actually that makes it more like 15 Mill overall for Zigic.

He is a colossus in the air though but I don't think Sunderland want to sell him and I think KJ himself thinks he is Villa/Spurs/Liverpool bound. And isn't KJ himself rumoured to be on 60k a week too?

It may seem less but then you will get other players wanting the same wages. This creating problems. If you pay one that you will have to pay more. For example delap is on £5,001 a week. He wont be a happy bunny will he?

Unless we're all missing a trick and we really have got a shot at attracting a big name for £9m-£12m and £50-60k, the viable domestic target man options boil down to Heskey, Fletcher or Hulse, don't they? As Bayern says, it yells out " LOOK ABROAD, DEAR TONY"

Wouldn't it be great if we signed a 7ft giant from Algeria for 500k who no ones ever heard of and he turns out to be amazing netting 20 goals next season.
If Carlsberg did transfers...................
