That statistic about us winning when Mama doesn't play is a complete load of bollocks. I seem to recall us doing rather well last season when he got injured and Beattie came in and saved the day. Its all well and good saying that Mama is better suited to our playing style when all we do with Mama is launch balls at him for him to flick on. I'd also like to see a statistic of how many headers he doesn't win in the Premier League. He was effective in the Championship doing this flick on for Fuller but it just doesn't was with Premier League defenders. How many goals have we scored in two years as a result of the Mama flick on for Fuller? I can't think of many? I for one can not fault the professionalism of the man and the effort that he puts in on a matchday. In reality though, the bloke isn't good enough and can't score goals and offers little in assits that people make out. Therefore, I wouldn't have him starting many games for my team if I was manager. when mama got injured in the 1st season in the prem our results took a nose dive but beattie came in who can play the mama role and score goals so your argument is worthless What a silly comment.

How is it silly?
13 December 2008 Fulham Britannia Stadium 0–0 25,287 BBC Sport 20 December 2008 Blackburn Rovers Ewood Park 0–3 23,004 BBC Sport 26 December 2008 Manchester United Britannia Stadium 0–1 27,500 BBC Sport 28 December 2008 West Ham United Upton Park 1–2 A.D. Faye 4' 34,477 BBC Sport 10 January 2009 Liverpool Britannia Stadium 0–0 27,500 BBC Sport
Mama got injured in the 4th minute of the game vs Fulham, the only goal scored until Beattie arrived was a corner vs a shambolic West Ham side.
When he was disgracefully attacked by Mali supporters in the promotion season our results took a nosedive and it looked like we'd fuck it up, once Mama returned so did the goals

If you were picking up £20k a week for being a Premier League player knowing that you've never scored goals at any level-you'd certainly keep your head down, make sure you didn't moan and ran your sack off every week. I can't recall many games where Tuncay hasn't given us his 100% effort. The bloke runs his bollocks off for the team. If I'm being totally 100% honest, I'll admit that he's not been as effective as I'd liked him to have been but I know that if we use him to his potential, give him the right service and a proper run in the team we'll see a completly different player to the one we saw last season. I still find it hard to believe that people want a player with his quality and effort shipped out. Some of you are retards but your opinions do make me laugh. To get the best out of Tuncay we'd be relegated because we';d have to change our whole approach to the game, he hardly saved 'Boro did he?

You're saying that without Mama we don't win as if he's the footballing messiah. Yet when we got a 'normal' premier league standard striker in (Beattie) who can do the 'normal' things that Mama does like heading on and holding the ball up we started to improve. Contradictory to say the least. The whole point of this is that Mama doesn't score goals. His job is to score goals if he's down as a striker on the books. His scoring record is woeful. Shocking. Awful. Thats why he shouldn't be selected.[/quote] You say that but Tuncay is no Torres is he? Our results are better when Mama plays FACT Beattie's had a fantastic season hasnt he? Does Heskey score? Capello picks him though All about styles of play and Mama isnt in the team to score Without Mama this year we'd be at least 8 points worse off

Start of the season West Ham at Stoke 1-1, ball down the wing to Fuller cuts inside, shot saved by the GK, from the Mama role Beattie bursts a gut to get in there Beattie did this against Wolves for own goal aswell. Do you ever see Mama do that. Why cause he to sodding busy inthe midfield.

Fuck me alot of people on here have some low expectations of our club and players, i really hope you don't follow this on into your personal lives. He is up there as one of the worst players in this league. He has no pace, can't shoot, can't tackle, can't pass, wins very few headers and generally looks like he has no control over his own legs. He really is a laughing stock yet so many on here praise him, laughable! Do we still have our heads back 5/6 seasons ago when we were a mid table Championship side at best? All I here is he tries hard, plays with a smile, great character! Well wouldnt you run alot and be beaming from ear to ear if you were robbing your employer of many thousands a week knowing full well you are simply not good at your job, not just at this level but most levels. It's an insult to the knowledgeable fans out there... Best part is these are the same people who get excited over the thought of us starting with such players as Carrick, Ireland, Cole, Parker, Noble etc... I'm sure they'd love to come Stoke when they look at our regular starting 11 with such legends as, all i can do is throw Rory, 1 in 5 games Whelan and bambi on ice Mamma. Get a grip.... Do you write your own material?

No1 is saying mama is the greatest of footballers but he's far from the worst, he is as other's have pointed out very efective in our system,& unless TP can find another beatie, who granted added goals 2 that role & saved us from relegation, which i'm sure, we were all gratefull, but he didnt repeat it this yr & kits didnt step up again, so it was all down to the "EVER RELIABLE MAMA" so should tp bring in an adequate replacement this summer & move the big man on , then he should go with all our thanks !

people wont have it will they, we are better when mama plays, end of thread This is one of the funniest things I've heard all year. I'll have to repeat the quote "we are better when Mama plays". Absolute quality. Comedy Gold. Someone else mentioned that he's our system and that without Mama the system fails as in England with Heskey. Well that is also complete and utter bollocks. The system is called having a big man up front who you play long ball to. Its only a useful system if you have quality in terms of the strikers used as the foil namely Wayne Rooney or in our case Ricardo Fuller. I'll ask you all again. If any of you can recall the number of goals we've scored as a result of Mama flicking the ball on for Fuller/Kitson/Tuncay/Beattie etc to score since we've been in the Prem? Other than the odd cross for some of our goals (most memorably against Arsenal in the cup) how many has Sidibe created for the other aforementioned strikers in the past two seasons? The chap who mentioned the games when Mama got injured against Fulham in the 4th minute and listed the resulting games since Beattie's arrival as if we were lost without Mama. 13 December 2008 Fulham Britannia Stadium 0–0 20 December 2008 Blackburn Rovers Ewood Park 0–3 26 December 2008 Manchester United Britannia Stadium 0–1 28 December 2008 West Ham United Upton Park 1–2 10 January 2009 Liverpool Britannia Stadium 0–0 In all of the games listed above can anyone honestly, with common sense, say that mama would have won us these games. Probably with the exception of the home game against Fulham where he may have made a difference. That said it was an awful game with no chances so how Mama would have changed it is beyond me. At Blackburn we started the game with Cresswell and Pericard up front and were 3-0 down after 30 minutes. Being present at that game, we'd have needed Messi, Ronaldinho and Alan Shearer to turn that game around so Mama would have made no difference at all. I could go on and on but really can't be bothered. The fact is that Mama Sidibe simply isn't good enough to be starting matches in the Premier League. To suggest that he is a better player or better suited to a system than Tuncay is ludicrous. To suggest that we play better as a team collectively when he plays is bordering on insanity.

its not about the most tallented 11, if it was mama wouldnt be in the team, its about the best/most effective 11 and mama certainly is one of the first names on the team sheet.
mamas game is all about bringing other players in to the game, surely you all have noticed how much better the midfield looks when he is on the pitch
im sure everyone is in agreement with the fact we need a better target man than mama, but for the team we have at the moment, hes doing a great job.
and raf, i cant believe you think capello is an idiot ;D ;D
the bloke is a born winner, all your arguments from now on are void

At best, Sidibe is a irritant for Premier League defenders who are not used to a man who believes he can control a football with any and every available body part. At his worst, he's embarrassing.
Here's hoping TP brings in a proper top level target man, if only for the Sidibe apologists to see how wrong they are.

useful as what? a goalscorer? a game changer? a doorstop?
He works his bollocks off and i'll always be grateful for the two goals against Brizzle, but he's shite. I fail to see how people still make a case for a bloke who seems to be here only because he's quite a nice chap.

I'll never ever deviate from the fact that he was a vital part of the system that helped us to achieve promotion from the Championship.
In terms of progression, and us wanting to score goal she is one of the main reasons we've struggled so much to beat sides by 1 or more goals and that probably goes for the Promotion season aswell.
It'll be a long running argument with Mama Sidibe until he's a non-stoke player in that is he/isn't he good enough. In my opinion he's way short of the standard required for the Premier League.
Even when used as a substitute when we're trailing with 10/20 minutes remaining, I'd still not be overly conident that he'd be the crucial difference in winning or losing a game.
His goalscoring record at ALL LEVELS is very poor so why would he be a good impact player?

The link man for what?
Whenever Mama Sidibe plays we completly bypass the midfield and if anything we fail to retain the ball in midfield when he does play.
I just can't see apurpose for him at all when i think about it, other than him being a man to stick on teh front post or keeper when Rory throws it in to free up Huth and Shawcross.

He does not bring players into the game, cause he can't pass, trips over the ball, gets in the way of other players. 2. Saying the midfield looks better with him playing, can't you see why he's the 5th midfielder. That't why he's hardly ever in the box. But saying this he has proved he can score with his head, so is it Pulis and the tactics, would he be better playing the 4-4-2 with that team. If there was no improvements to the team, no it wouldn't work because the central midfield is to weak. That's why he needs a workhorse to help the midfield. As you have said we need a better target man, but we need two central midfielder's forget about players like Diao and Delap and say Pennant on the right. Ah, and LB to replace Higgy, could be a bit tasty.
