Then how is there 3 Championship teams in the semis of the FA Cup ???

|
Post by mumf14 on Mar 9, 2008 23:40:06 GMT
Because the bigger clubs in the earlier rounds fielded weakened teams and got stung....

Really? so it's all down to that then and nothing to do with the Championship being stronger than most people give credit for?

Exceptions to the obvious.....(Man Utd and Chelsea)..A one off .!!
What's left in this competition are not the best four teams in Britain.

Isn't it refreshing though?

I think Derby were one of the better Championship teams last season and last season seemed like a better league than this one... and look how well they are doing up there. I think we are an average side in an average league and anybody could have won it if they had a better start (QPR, Norwich, Plymouth, Hull..etc)

mumf that is true not the best fout teams but it shows Championship teams really know how to play their opponents, thats why most of the teams in the league can beat anybody! It's not luck that 3 out of 4 teams out of 200+ teams are form the Championship!

It does have a lot to do with the complacency/apathy of the Prem teams though. Not that I'm complaining, I think it's great that the big four are out!

Prem4stoke...I don't really subscribe to that argument I'm afraid. It shows how the Cup has been devalued by the heirachy of British football.....Nothing more.

This seasons FA cup is great for nogger. A non big four club will win it. Loads of people have whinged and whined in recent years that its always the same clubs involved. Now the trophy gene pool diversifies people still moan and whine.

How has it been devalued? I think all of the teams bar Reading have put out good teams and have taken it seriously.

Others perhaps feel it's like Dale Winton stepping into the ring with Joe Calzaghe and after a hard fought encounter wins on points....
Fix Fix....!!

Bayern....It's been devalued by the top 6 clubs for sodding years mate....Santas not real either..!

The Championship is the workhorse of the leauges. The prem has a few very skillfull players and too many big time Charlies, a bit like WBA although WBA arn't quite as good as the Prem big time Charlies you will see if they get Portsmouth

t's been devalued by the top 6 clubs for sodding years mate
So now isn't it good that a lower club will win it at last?

Joe.....I've already answered that...

It has been but the fact is they do put their best teams out-what more do You want? The league cup is devalued but the FA Cup the big 4 still want to win it.

Its harsh to demean some clubs achievements by saying its only because the big ones fielded weakened sides. Chelsea and man yoo didn't yesterday. Liverpool didn't against Barnsley. They started with Gerrard as sub but they used him.

Bayern...So you agree with me then...! Good.!
What do I want ....I'll tell you.
A much fairer distribution of sponsorship throughout the football league. Football in the lower leagues is dying on it's arse.

Ask a Barnsley fan if the FA Cup is any good. Instead of belittling their achievement why not acknowledge what a great job they did?

proof is in the pudding mumf, either the prem is over rated? Champ is under rated ??? The prem is just full of greedy pricks it shows when we got Hendrie! He looked a great catch with great skill until he showed how average he really was and IS!

Bayern.....You have just posted that it has been devalued....Make your mind up..>>>>
You are contradicting yourself.Everyman and his dog knows this is true...the big clubs DO want to win it...but The Champions league offers far more in terms of revenue. This is not an argument ..it is a bloody cast iron fact.!!Priorities mean that domestic cup competitions suffer in relation to this by squad rotation. That has been the case for several years now.

I also disagree with squad rotation but clubs don't just do it for cups. Liverpool have had Torres on the bench for league games.

Joe...I've not mentioned Barnsley...You did.! I'm not belittling anyone either.....but I'm also not deluded enough to put my sentimentality before the rationality of what is common knowledge.
I am amazed at the naivity of some posters narrow-minded views on this subject.
