My fave ever Stoke player.
Hope he carries on in the game in some capacity. Maybe we could get him down Stoke to show Mama how to head a ball or to score when an opportunity presents itself. Who can forget his 4 against Chesterfield at the Brit or hat tricks against Bristol rovers and city. Magic stuff by a genuinely nice bloke.

He's not a former hero to me. He's still a fucking Stoke hero. His hattrick against us for Cardiff showed us all the great affection he has for us and what an all round top bloke he is. All the best Thorney son. H

Would love Thorney to return to Stoke in some capacity. That guy is a legend and I will never forget what he did for the club.
Top professional and I hope that even though it looks the end of a top career, it starts with a new dawn for him.
There is only one Peter Thorne.

Genuine legends like Peter Thorne don't come along too often and I for one wish him all the very best in whatever career he chooses after football. Thanks for the memories Peter.

Perhaps he could take a leaf out of Steino's book and become a physio...for Stoke?

Thorney goes to the gym near where I work and attend. He's good mates with Beattie too.
Sound bloke and he's genuinely got a massive soft spot for Stoke.
To this day he still can't believe the money he made off Cardiff.

It would be great to have him back at Stoke as a coach/scout

It's a fact that Thorney (and his family) genuinely cared what the Stoke fans thought of him, both while he was at the club and after he'd left.
And that wasn't anything to do with some media-management profile, or making sure he remained an attractive marketing asset for his agent either.
He was just a sincere bloke, doing his very best for our club.
Top player, top man!

If he plans to do his coaching badges - what better place to start than at Stoke? I really hope the club does offer him the chance if he wants to stay in the game.

Didn't his old man write to Stoke or the Oaty saying how much Thorney appreciated the standing ovation he got when he twatted us for Cardiff, and how much he genuinely loved the club? I'm sure I remember something like that?

Just last season I used to tease my Bradford-supporting cousin that I'd heard Stoke were back in for Thorney... he held him in such high esteem that I think he thought I was serious...
Legend. Would like to hear him on the podcast...
