part of the debate should be along the lines of how much £ would a price increase generate?
eg 19 home games x average price per ticket - say £25? x capacity - say 25,000?
19 x £25 x 25,000 = £11,875,000 seasons gate receipts? (compare this to champship gate receipts)
on these figures a 2% increase to the club is worth = £237,500
to the fan it costs 19 x £25 x 2% = £9.50 per season (based on 19 games)
the club could supply the real figures for analysis
costs would be different for season tckt holders, to people paying on the day on the gate
do the club really need this extra money on top of the sky telly money? alternative is to fill the ground every week and encourage more new supporters to attend
at this stage of the clubs development I would encourage the club to the latter, as we are still not quite filling the stadium for every home game if we were sold out every game then i think there would be an argument for an inflation-only increase
a full stadium and an intimidating atmosphere from the working class support is part of what makes us what we are
or whack the prices up and price tickets to sell to the prawn sandwich brigade who will politely applaud the opposition
suggest the club's finance boys then ask TP for his opinion!

I have filled it in. I think we should expect a slight increase as we had a price freeze last season and cannot see us doing it again. However i did write in my feedback that last years price freeze technically meant we didn't have the reduced VAT rate applied and so really it was a price increase ;D I said exactly the same last year The difference in VAT has been put into a pot and schools/organisations can apply to Stoke for money for kits and sports equipment for local kids

It would be a great gesture by the club if they could give discounts to Serving Forces personnel. The Ministry of Defence operate a 'MOD Discount Brochure' with various discounts offered by companies - holidays, car hire etc. Only a few football clubs currently offer discounts on matchday tickets(Coventry (always to the fore with ideas), Southampton, Northampton & Leyton Orient). Several Rugby clubs give discounts on season tickets (i.e. Harlequins 30% discount)

For what reason do you have to be able to make this statement?

im up for a scheme where forces personnel are recognised more, students get discounts so i believe forces personnel should too Not at Stoke they don't. If we offered students and forces personnel discounts, teachers would want it, nurses would etc. All deserve a discount imo but for that reason alone it won't be done.

Prices should depend on income, not whether you have joined the armed forces--otherwise why should an army cook, mechanic, engineer have preferential treatment over a fireman, mountain rescue person, heart transplanet surgeon?

Folks,
Thank you so much for all your feedback
I have now closed the survey as the meeting took place today
I will write to everyone who has left their email address and thank them soon
I am in the process of producing the results and over the next day I will publish them for you all to see
Safe to say that not many people would be in favour, or indeed be able to afford an increase - Something that I have personally taken as far up the chain at Stoke as I can and hammered home - This has been helped immeasurably by the overwhelming response to the survey by everyone
Thanks once again for your feedback
Gareth

Folks, Here is a full list of survey results for you all to see Only 29% of total recipients could afford an increase and out of all people who said they could afford - there were no average amounts above £30ish mark for each bracket Survey Results(PDF)Definite points coming out was the absolute necessity to keep all ticket prices frozen, especially childrens ticket prices Seperately, I have raised the following issues Ticket functionality of SCFCDirect (Away purchases as well as usefulness and ease of use for home tickets) Where people stand with having pay on the gate tickets added to their purchase history (Wigan and Portsmouth) No U21 ticket prices on matchday, however, there is a U21 section for season ticket purchases There were several other ticketing issues, but these were the main points of issue for most returnees We went in there, really armed with the facts and figures to backup what we were saying and that is thanks to those who returned the survey During the closed season we will be conducting a comprehensive survey about all aspects of the matchday experience which will help to demonstrate the issues that need sorting out in and around the stadium before the start of next season Thanks Gareth

Have they asked you to canvass the supporter base with regard to the new Platinum and Platinum plus schemes? Again I do appreciate your efforts mate ... please don't think I'm having a personal pop at you guys.

Have they asked you to canvass the supporter base with regard to the new Platinum and Platinum plus schemes? Again I do appreciate your efforts mate ... please don't think I'm having a personal pop at you guys. We had been in touch with the club prior to Wednesday about the prices, we wanted the results to statistically backup what we were saying and ensure that we fully represented Stoke fans on every aspect Prices were not formally finalised when we had the intial conversations We have also had issues coming out of the survey about ticketing that can be addressed in the closed season - i.e. the fact that there is an U21 season ticket but no corresponding matchday ticket to purchase. This has been raised and will hopefully be sorted over the summer to a satisfactory resolution We have said that we will run this survey again in January of each year so we can take the results into the opening meetings and not leave it later, also, the announcements were several weeks earlier than last season The club have not asked us to question supporters about the new membership schemes, but we are very interested on what people think. Regarding the membership scheme. Loyalty is earned and not brought. I as a loyal away supporter feel as though we are being pushed in a corner. I either pay the £50 x 2 for me and the wife or we loose out in the big games even though we could have travelled to a long away game mid-week. Why change something that works!
