spurs and sunderland?
The bigger picture for me is that 2+ years ago you were on the verge of conducting a red card orchestra to run Pulis out of the club weren't you?
;D

Yeterday's performance for 70 minutes was diabolical and anyone who denies it is burying their head in concrete. However, how that has somehow morphed onto the assertion that we've been fortunate with our wins astounds me.
Burnley - They played better football but couldn't handle our power. A deserved win
Sunderland. - We were clearly the better side on the day. A fully deserved three points
West Ham - A mixed bag. We were occasionally excellent could have been a draw but if one side deserved a win it was the one in red and white
Tottenham - Fortunate but a moment of genuine class to win the game
Portsmouth - A bad performance but once the right players were on we were clearly the better side. I honestly don't think Portsmouth cancomplain too much in the end. They were as shit as us and with less cutting edge.
When you add the fact that we should have got wins at Birmingham and Bolton I think 19 points is the least we deserve.
There is plenty of problems to discuss and you have to seriously question a manager who continually considers Rory to be a better option than Liam to play on the right and Whitehead to play at all but this feeling that we're fortunate to be on 19 points or in 9th place does not really stand up to any serious scrutiny.
Plenty to discuss but the team is not as fundamentally flawed as the wrist slashers would have you believe.

"remember '72" Hudson, Banks, Ritchie, Greenhoff, Waddington. HELLOOOOOOO, this is 2009 we are now in the 2nd season of premier league, and, if you want to see a 3rd, things need to improve ! good thing this spell of totally crappy play and games was against crappy teams

I was born in 1974.
Last time we were in the top flight - I hadn't got pubes.
Let me enjoy us being 9th without you warning me of our impending doom.

stoke were guilty of 70 minutes of piss poor football on sunday, but we proved we have the players to get the points in a sticky situation, pulis needs to wake up and START with his BEST XI or we will continue to see points we should have collected slip away from us. i beleive ou best XI is capable of easily finishing as high as 8th this season but when 3 of them are kept out by delap, whitehead & collins we are doing ourselves no favors.

Momo, I was talking to quite a chubby guy who was moaning like fuck about Pulis while I was queuing for my Bovril at h/t yesterday. I ended up sounding like a right Rimmer the shift I put in to cheering him up.
I was wondering if it was you?

I did see a middle class gay sort drinking Bovril out of a champagne flute scrabbling around on his blackberry for updates from the Belgian second flight. Was that you?

Not sure but I think we beat Spurs, Sunderland and Burnley so check out where they are in the league. ooohhhhhhh we beat Burnley, first game of the season for a newly promoted team !! Which, historicaly is the worst time to play them. Don't you know anything? I mean anything!

Just like the Bolton away game for us! We were lucky that day they had bugger all up front. It was like the Wolves game but without conceding the goals. First half we were good, second half we were just terrible.

No, I was on the William Hill site trying to load more dough on a win for the Mighty Potters

I knew this thread was coming...especially after we were given a lesson in possession by the leagues worst team. Playing Delap, Diao and Whitehead is utterly pointless really as whether he does it to be tight defensively or not, all it does is lose us possession more and more often thus meaning we need to be tighter! It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. I am so pleased that Liam came on and immediately showed what a creative player can do. I was ecstatic that Wilko played very very well, as having a proper fullback playing right back actually allows us to be even better going forward.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for Tony Pulis, and do not wish to see him leave anytime soon, but I do think he could find a way to play a slightly more 'talented' side.
Whatever anyone says about Tuncay doesn't bother me...when Wilko and Lawrence play down the right, Whelan in center mid, Fuller, Beattie, Sidibe are all better players because of it. The fans do deserve the right to be slightly entertained by this Stoke side, as a 1-0 win playing that badly vs a rubbish Portsmouth side isn't enjoyable at all. The only enjoyable thing is the league table and our position in it.
