Playing a club who the fans feel we should beat...
...but they're a club who always seem to get the better of us.
A run of bad form, bad performances and some bad results...
...means that frustrations are simmering to boiling point.
A team selection that the fans want to see...
...but TP seems desperate to drop certain players and accommodate others.
It all points to the possibility of frustrations spilling over into some serious verbal heckling of Pulis, if not the first audible 'Pulis Out' chants, should things not go our way. I think several factors will need to be present for that to occur, i.e starting Adam & Crouch, a poor performance etc, but the altering mood on here is indicating that even the fence-sitters and moderate rimmers are starting to turn.
A bad result on Tuesday could be the catalyst for things to start becoming openly hostile as fans start to turn on the manager and in the process turn on each other.
Of course, we've been in this position a number of times and it's always at these points when TP seems to suddenly see sense, pick something like his best side, and grind out the result that placates everyone for a while. It's a pattern we've seen repeated many, many times before.
I hope he does it again because as much as I would feel relief at not having to watch the mind-numbing football and tear my hair out at the Groundhog day tactical decisions and transfers, I think a dignified exit-perhaps at the end of the season, with no ill-feeling- is the least that TP deserves.
We're in a decent league position, not in any relegation trouble, but most people are now starting to see what some have been saying for a long time. The hope is disappearing, the enjoyment is being truly strangled from the matchday experience, and people are actually starting to question why we look so poor after so much money has been spent.
TP and Stoke may not be desperate for points, but he could really do with earning some goodwill.

It's going to be very, very interesting to see what team he picks on Tuesday.
He said he was going to play his BEST XI today and apart from the goalkeeper I think he did.
Now we're out of the cup, there's no need to rotate players, so where does that leave Adam and Crouch?
I suppose if Swansea up their offer for Kenwyne then that will at least get him out of one hole.

Ugly will just about sum it up if there are chants of "Pulis out" on Tuesday. We saw against Chelsea how the fans are ready to turn on each other. You can also tell from the mood on here how divided the fans are.
If the team get off to a bad start on Tuesday then it could get tasty. And if anyone thinks the empty seats today were embarrassing, that's nothing to what mass fisticuffs will look like among our own fans.

My team for Tuesday would be Begovic Wilkinson Huth Shawcross Cameron Pennant Adam N'Zonzi Etherington Walters Jones Why no Whelan? He will be serving a 3 match ban. I would like to see that team too, Adam may shine against Wigan played in a more suitable position , if he doesn't then there isn't much hope for him.

Yeah certainly one of TP's biggest league games since promotion. Think if its dire again then the crowd will be extremely verbal (towards the manager). It started to quite verbal at Swansea.

I think the best thing for everyone is for Pulis to announce his retirement a year in advance, this coming summer. Give Pulis a free year without the shackles of long-term planning which seems to confuse him. It would be like the final year from a strict teacher who decided to finally let things go a bit, like Gudjon when it was his final season. It would allow for a year's breathing space for the extremes from both camps. Those that love Pulis could calmly enjoy his farewell year, those that hate him would probably relax their anger as they know his time is nearly up. Either way, we start afresh in 2014/15 with everyone on the same page.

Our supporters are massively divided, the disenchanted section is growing and the Taliban think they can whip us into line. Well in true Stoke spirit I'll go when I want, I'll sing when I want, I'll leave when I want.

onion man, I agree. Can we just bring the retirement forward a year to this summer? Perhaps announced erm...tomorrow?
In all seriousness I said I'd had enough of Pulisball and all the trimmings in pre-season & that's still my opinion.
I'm happy to say thanks, goodbye and in years to come view TP as one of the best managers we've ever had. The problem is that even when he hits the right notes and we click as a team, I know the next act of fuckwitted meddling is only a game or two away and we're back to square one.
He's still ahead now (just), and it's always best to go out while you still are and leave a positive legacy.
There'd be a risk of course, but then that's part of the attraction.

If he brings back Bego and Cameron that's about as good as he can do. Play "proper" Pulisball against Wigan and we should come out on top. If Whelan is banned it'll have to be Deano,
£90million he's spent, fuck me

It's time to stand down, It's time to stand dow-ow-own, Tony, you legend - it's time to stand down.
Sad, but true - I don't think any of us want to see things turn sour between manager and supporters after the hard-fought platform he's given Stoke City FC...

Sad, but true - I don't think any of us want to see things turn sour between manager and supporters after the hard-fought platform he's given Stoke City FC... I think that's quite an apt chant. The only thing from preventing fans from venting frustrations is out of their respect for TP, quite rightfully too. But any balanced sane person can see he hasn't got what it takes to get us to that next level. Even I wouldn't chant the following out of respect for what he's done for the club "Pulis out, sacked in the morning, you don't know what you're doing" I reckon "step down" is softer but serves the same purpose. It's time to step down Tony.
