For some reason i've been thinking about this game. As usual my memory of any game of nogger isn't 100% sharp due to the nature of the pre match social ;D but i remember stoke getting ripped apart at the brit, bristol rovers were a bloody decent team that day and seemed to cut us open at will down the wings and in the middle. One of the best performances i have seen at the britannia.
Just been looking at the two XI's from the game.
C. Muggleton, P. Robinson (D. Crowe, 82), B. Small, L. Sigurdsson, N. Mohan, G. Strong, K. Keen, G. Kavanagh, P. Thorne, K. Lightbourne, D. Oldfield
T. Williams, D. Pritchard, T. Challis, S. Foster, A. Thomson, A. Tillson, I. Holloway , D. Hillier, G. Penrice, J. Cureton, J. Roberts
Crowd 17823.

Is that the game where Kav put his penalty over the incinerator? Pretty low point. Good crowd mind.

as we were for about 6 months. If I remember rightly we lost near enough every home game for three months by 3 or 4 goals

We were cruising the league as I remember and all the talk was promotion by the end of January???
I think it was the time we got found out tactics wise and another Stubborn fucker would not change and the rest they say is history.

To be fair tho, a number of fans had commented that we'd not been playing well and we were due for a fall. No one expected how bad that fall would be.

We made a great start yeah and really did look like it could be promotion then teams started to suss that they could play the ball behind our full (wing) backs and we ended up being panned quite badly we were screaming for a change in formation but that dead horse kept getting flogged.

as we were for about 6 months. If I remember rightly we lost near enough every home game for three months by 3 or 4 goals I'm pretty sure I've described the season in similar terms. I remember one game where 4 of the oppo players were passing the ball among themselves running towards goal, with no defenders in sight, before sticking it in the net. Like the worst game of attack and defence you've ever seen.

The 4-1 hammering by burnley at the brit. Pickering scoring a screamer to kick them off. Weird season.

did we go on the pitch after the whistle in this game? I think you are right cause me dad and two brothers went onto the pitch as well. A real low point in supporting Stoke that.

I think some mobile communications company called Genesis sponsored the North Stand so it got renamed as "The Genesis Communications Boothen End". Once the sponsorship deal ran out, or Genesis went bust, the club just kept it as "The Boothen End"
