Genuinely surprised Salop and I are the only highish scores today. I still think it was a better job of management than a lot of these numbers, considering what a big job of turning it round Leslie has in front of him. Sal, he's the one who's got us into this mess, he's signed the players, he's responsible for the team selection and tactics, he's the one who can change things when it isn't going right, he's the one who plays people out of position, he's the one who won't sub or drop players when they are clearly out of form or just not performing, he's the one where the buck stops and at the moment things are fucking awful. I can't remember the last match I was looking forward to going as it seems like he doesn't have a clue or he doesn't give a shit. We were hanging on for a draw yesterday it wasn't as though we were away to Manure or Citeh it was fucking Huddersfield and they were dictating the game. Hughes appears to think that because we have Crouch in the squad he can lump it up to him and we'll get the occasional goal, a type of poor man’s Pulisball and its dog shit. Waiting for the final whistle to blow so we can scrape a draw just like we did V Brighton v Burnley v Palace etc is even more dog shit management just like trying to play a system with wingbacks when we don't actually have a single wing back in the squad. I gave him a 4 yesterday but on reflection I think I was very generous. Gouranga. I haven't changed my mind about urgently wanting a change of manager, way too many errors of judgement have come home to roost we agree - I'm just saying given the mess we've been in, for me getting a decent performance out of the squad we've currently got (mamny of whom showed zero motivation for the past couple of months) and doing what was needed not to get tonked by Huddersfield, who are havi ng a really good first Prem season so far, after having got tonked by almost everyone else, was a pretty good job of work on the day.

We held it together, in every sense, today. We pushed forward and got a deserved result for it. God knows there are still issues and plenty of them but Sparky gets points from me for keeping up the momentum after West Brom and for the backbone we showed today.

......................Butland...................... Edwards.........Zouma......Shawcross.........Wimmer ................Allen......Cameron................. Ramadan................Shaq..................Choupo .......................Diouf....................... Very hard on Crouchy, but easier to play for counter attacks with Diouf on top. Think Diouf is our fastest player too. Subs: Tymon, Souttar, Afellay, Fletcher, Adam, Jese, Crouch, Berahino. I'd go with most of that except I'd be tempted to give Bera another go up top...also how far away is BMI [/quote. Agree with that, not sure why I have a hunch this could be Bera's time to come good, but reckon I'd give him a go at H'field too,

Hope it's a really good one for you and yours, all the best for 2018 - and for SCFC staying up, obviously!
Thanks for your support of the Board this year, please don't think it's ever taken for granted or not appreciated.

The ease with which attacking forwards run directly past Shawcross and in the gap is astonishing. Ryan needs a third eye 👁 👁 👁 He's never been the best reader of the game, and as he gets older and less mobile that's all too clear sadly - with the right partner and with Tone briefing Ryan heavily, we were able to play to his massive strengths, he's always been brave as a lion, great tackler, reliabke header of the ball. But in the shambles that's been our defence for the past 12 months it's maybe no surprise he's looked exposed too often.

We told the man he had to win and he won - ok it was a somewhat flattering scoreline but you could argue that was recent bad luck evening itself out. Tactical changes, well yes there were some alho under pressure I'm not sure how much impact they had, and very little about today - definitely not their goal - convinced me we were any sounder defensively.
But fair's fair and that was also two important points knocked off the GD from hell, so on the day from me it's well done Sparky:

True of course But do we have any evidence Denise actually likes the club, the game, or the amount of money it costs to run SCFC?? She realises the importance of losing the connection to a Premier League football club. It's all about "branding" these days, and it would be with great reluctance that she would switch to another PL club. In fact that is not going to happen, it is SCFC or nothing with Bet365. Denise wouldn't do that to her Dad. I get that, and get the family loyalty - what I'm saying is has anyone ever seen genuine passion for the club from her? I just haven't, as yet.

We can do something about it though...change the manager. It's this 'we can't do anything about it' mentality that needs changing. Complacency kills. It's spread throughout ! all involved with the club coming from the very top and seeping down, so very sad and self inflicted. West Ham, West Brom and Huddersfield should have given us 6+ VITAL points - ok we still have a chance of getting them despite the Wet Sham shambles but let's say we get a point vs WBA and lose at Huddersfield, doesnlt matter how unlucky we are on the day or how well we play - for me, sorry to say it but those lost points would be down to PC and JC not acting when they should have done. Love to be proved wrong and all that... Or, I would love to think PC and JC are behaving like proper owners, have their shortlist lined up, mean to give the new manager, whose name I sincerely hope they already know, the whole of the window and have taken a view that Sparky with his job on the line will do better than a caretaker over Christmas. I reckon that's how Denise would play it, she's the toughest nut of the family but I've never been convinced she's the biggest SCFC or football fan.

Well, I wouldn;t be about to throw Brendan out of bed... Really!!! Wow there wouldn't be enough room in there for him his ego and his huge self portrait! And have you soon the size of his hooter? His nose I mean. Well we know what a big nose is often a sign of.... Seriously, this would be a good place for him to prove himself, he def has the talent as well as the weak spots but I'd take the chance.

Our best performances this season came when the present squad had just got assembled and a number of players were either playing their way back in - Ryan and Crouchy especially - or the new arrivals - remember when Jese and Max looked like Gods? - were going through all their best tricks to prove themselves for Sparky, and the rest of us.
It was when the squad then started bedding in and working with the management's tactical regime that the problems started, or rather returned. With a fresh manager to impress instead of one whose judgement they sadly no longer trust, this is still one of the best SCFC squads of recent years (providing Jack and Shaq stick around beyond January - tbh we'll be lucky), and well capable of fonishing mid-table still.

Honestly has anyone got the heart? He's a good bloke, he's done great things for this football club and he has to be going through hell right now, I don't want to add to the pain - but this surely can't be allowed to continue for another game, can it?

A: One who is okay with things and thinks things will come right in the wash. B: One who doesn't think things will come right in the wash but is hoping against hope that Hughes turns it around. C: One like Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining' and can't wait for things to go tits up so Hughes is sacked. D: One who doesn't give a fuck anymore. I'm a B. There will some C's, but will they admit it? That is the question. OS. Despite what RAF might say, a solid B.

Surely only a win can save his skin on Saturday? The performance doesn't matter only the 3pts.I can't stand the thought of "we played well and deserved to win" being trotted out as an excuse. The trouble is - for Sparky's sake as well as the club's - I don't think it's down to 'saving' his job any more so much as buying time week on week. Much like where we were before the Swansea game really, but the Wet Sham I'm seeing lately is a lot less bedraggled than Swansea, Saturday could be a good one to win not a nailed-on 3 points. To 'save' his job Sparky is going to have to revolutionise defensive tactics and his use of subs and deliver, consistently, for maybe the next 10 games. I'd love to believe there was a realistic chance of that - but honestly??

Sadly have to agree with this but then, how many managers get to leave a club without feeling like damaged goods? that a rare achievment That's a good point. Managers rarely leave on a high. Look at Wenger. Weren't there "Waddington out" chants near the end of Waddington's time at Stoke? Older Stokies please confirm but I'm fairly sure there were 'Waddo Out' chants the majority of his time here, we are Stoke after all.

Much improved from Wembley but there was a lot of room for improvement - I thought Sparky did a good job getting the team up for it tonight, ok yes elements of huff and puff but we kept way tighter, there were genuinely creative moments and that was a genuinely unlucky game to lose.

Slightly ruined for me now. 12 months ago, I would have put him up there with one of our best managers, but he is slowly destroying his legacy, much like Tony Pulis did. I first seriously wanted him gone in autumn 2016, he persuaded me I'd been wrong with a good run of performances mid-last season but the stats say I was right in the first place. Make u feel good does it? Bore off H Seriously what have I ever done to you this bad??

Well I've bent over backwards to be fair all season but there's no way this should be allowed to go on past this game. Surely to God the Coateses must know this has to be the time, hopefully they have the shortlist ready and we won;t have to waste time with a temp. Bore off , you've wanted him gone for a long time and have waited in the wings for today. The sad thing is I fucking want him gone now, he's had the very last bit of patience from me. 1/10 for purely turning up. wank andfurst tin fuck off! We cannot defend well enough to stay in the Prem. Anything else is simply irrelvant right now. Either PC lets LMH prove that point by leaving him in charge after today or we give ourselves a chance of survival in other hands.
Sorry Sparky. It's been a brilliant ride much of the time, specially early on, but the defensive cracks from the beginning of your reign have become gaping great disasters now and it's painfully clear you're either too pigheaded to fix them or have no idea how.
3 from me for today (we did start well)
