The alternative is a different manager in the summer. Bet365 are not going to mess about. Do you think they'll sack him now? Can't see it. Especially if we finish 10th. Coates gives his managers time. He always has. Presume you are meaning Peter? The fastest growing company in Europe will not tolerate losers.....PC is just a figurehead. No disrespect in that ...just reality.

What's the alternative? The squad needs money spending on it. He's got credit in the bank still to be entrusted with it. Get it wrong this time though and it's hard to think there'll be a next time. The alternative is a different manager in the summer. Bet365 are not going to mess about.

Think Sparky hhas made some terrible decisions on players, tactics and formations this season. He clearly doesn't know his best team or st-up. You also have to question his training and fitness regime. He dropped a massive bollock with his team selection for our massive game at Palace. After that our season turned to "rat-shit"... as one of our esteemed posters commentated after that particular debacle.

Only needs a few bad results .....nobody is more pissed off than me and last night was utterly abysmal but cmon has 3 years of progression come down to " fucking Bojan off " " Shawcross is finished " and " Hughes needs replacing " It's pathetic Surely that is what a messageboard is for ??? Aftermatch reaction and comment. We were shit. We were pathetic. We were on the beach etc. Spurs were good and "up for it" Sparky and the boys deserve a right tatering .....

Worse than anything Pulis served up in the last 2 games. Tippy tappy rubbish Don't talk bollocks. It was surrender tonight .... Regardless of managers. This is what pisses me off with professional football.

Ryan has been terrible tonight.
The whole team has played like a tired, jaded, on the beach outfit.
Didn't think that Sparky would let the season melt down like this.

After 40 years I don't want to "do one" I thought this board was for expressing views both positive and negative which I think could summarise my post. For me that has to be more interesting than just popping onto threads and coming up with 2 lines of angry, rude replys. CS We will have to agree to differ. What's the point in being negative? What does it achieve? We are in a very strong position as a club. If not the strongest ever. I just get tired of people, particularly at the game, who expect us to just turn up and turn over good, strong, established premier league teams and mashers and whinge like little children when we don't. People need to get a reality check and realise what a fantastic place we are in. Or do one. That's MY opinion. SGS Happy Clapper.

A full ground is a good thing and I am certain there is no workable business case for 1800 extra seats. I wouldn't build if it was my club I know that. This. Peter and particularly Denise are hard headed business people. Filling in the corners is spunking money up the wall with little hope of any reasonable return. Just forget it and move on. The best we can hope for is a bit of a spruce up in the summer. In the cold light of day I think you are correct. I don't suppose there are many people who will stop going because of the shit stadium, shit facilities and shit traffic/parking problems. The owners will always have the argument that what would the punters prefer...20million on a new player or a stadium upgrade.

Yep Some windbreaks in the north west corner,a new stand in the south east corner and a park n ride system will do nicely.
Read today that Bet365 are the fastest growing company in England.
Good times.

TP's the man for the job.
2 million compensation for the Baggies. 1 million stay-up bonus for Tone. West Brom wont give a shite if he goes. Newcastle appoint Moyes if they are still in the Prem at end of season. Tony "Red" Pulis

You missed a massive point. He's better at scoring goals. 24 goals in a season. Very early days of course but he does seem like a very similar player to Yaya. He was awesome today, particularly on the ball. He's not the quickest in getting back and I don't feel that defending is his strength. He seems much more of an attacking midfielder than a box-to-box, again, like Yaya. Yaya gets slaughtered for his defensive game which is suspect - he frequently doesn't track runners etc and while I'm hopeful Imbula will be better than Yaya at that side of the game, I can't see Hughes wanting him to make it a focus. I think his best position is going to be something between an 8 and a 10 (using old fashioned numbers). Again, early days but if he can add late runs into the box and goals to his game, we will have a truly truly world class player on our hands. Exciting times!! That's a nine.

We got planning permission in 2009 before pulling out for for cost reasons when advertising was refused!STOKE City supporters will have to stay out in the cold after plans for a giant windbreak at the Britannia Stadium were blown away.
Club bosses wanted to shelter freezing fans from gusts through the open corners of the ground by building a 50-foot high steel shield between the Boothen End and the West Stand.
And they thought that they were onto a winner when Stoke-on-Trent City Council planners waved the proposal through last month.
But the idea has now been scrapped after council officials refused permission for advertising banners to be placed on the structure – which was how the Potters planned to pay for it.
Planning chiefs said the banners, which would have measured 39.6 feet by 132 feet, would be "incongruous".
And the club, which has refused to say how much the windbreak would have cost, says without advertising the scheme would not be commercially viable.
Head of development Richard Smith said: "Without the advertising revenue we have no means of paying for the structure. LOL
"Advertising was our means of justifying the expenditure and without it we can't go ahead.
"It's disappointing, but it's just one of those things and we have to take on board the views of the council."
Council officials said the refusal was because "the proposed advertisement hoarding, by reason of size and prominent location, would result in an incongruous structure to the detriment of visual amenity in the wider vicinity".
In The Sentinel in March, Mr Smith described how swirling winds inside the ground could interfere with play.
And he has now added that the Potters will look at alternative ways to reduce the wind.
Mr Smith said: "We will look at the investigation work we have already done and try to find other solutions. We could, for example, fill in the corners with more seating areas."
Stoke City supporters' club chairman Brian Shaw believes fans will be disappointed at the council's decision.
He said: "I can't see the problem when the whole ground is full of advertising all the way round.
"It does get very cold in there and fans were excited about the possibility of it being warmer. It seems silly to refuse the plans."
Councillor Adrian Knapper, the council's portfolio holder for regeneration and economic development, said planners were happy with the windbreak idea.
But he added: "When it came to advertising consent, the city council was concerned about the amount and large scale of advertising requested – with the proposal for the whole of the structure to be covered in advertisements."It is important that any advertising is in keeping with the design and scale of the windbreak. The city council is happy to work with the football club to come to a decision which is favourable for both parties."
Cheers FM.. Thought it couldn't have been JUST planning permission. Else that would have meant we could have never have filled the corners in ..haha As usual £££££££££££££ raise it's head. Small minded and very inconsiderate from The Club in my opinion.

Good question. Why the hell we haven't installed wind-breaks at least is anybody's guess.
The stadium and infrastructure and logistics nightmare is becoming an embarrassment actually. Planning permission. Eh?? Planning permission for wind-breaks. No way.

We won't build a corner on the existing ground. Whatever makes people think a new stadium is even remotely possible??? Don't see why it is not possible. The Brit was built when the club was a lot poorer. Other clubs are engaging in large investments. A new ground is a capital investment that can be depreciated over the next generation, so it does not impact immediately on the P&L account; it a question of cash flow. I don't think Bet365 is short of cash. It's a question of desire more than capability. In Bet365 parlance ..... New Stadium 2000/1 New corner 50/1 Windbreaks 30/1 Proper park and ride system 20/1

So presumably you're taking the piss. So you think that Tony was one of our greatest ever managers then? Not taking the piss no but knew it'd get a reaction. With the money spent promotion and then staying up had to be achieved and I think it should have been. I don't think it was this miracle the some make it out to be. He clearly is but it's not a great achievement is it? We're massive underachievers. Well....that's cleared that up

From my observations on this website, some people from a certain side are cunts, then again, the people from the other side are also cunts. Can we forget the past & look too the future, this club has never been in a healthier position, a position that could eventually see this club become something that we all could not ever imagine. Less backbiting & point scoring. We all support STOKE CITY. Very good points Blurtonboy but... Some people on this messageboard still cannot accept that Tony was one of our greatest managers and took us from near obscurity to the near pinnacle of English football. Sad ...very sad.

Fuck me...... Of all the things to accuse Pulis of, I really doubt he needs the money. I imagine he's already wealthier than you can possibly imagine. Say what you want about him (and my affection for him somewhat died at the Britannia earlier this season), but he was given a job by Jeremy Peace and he's done that. I really don't understand what West Brom fans wanted. Without him, they'd be relegation fodder, with him, they're a solid Premiership team. If/when he leaves, they'll be favourites to go down, and probably will. Agree to a point mate. But how do you know they would be relegation fodder if they had appointed somebody else?. The point is he will leave a legacy at West Brom that will be hard to shake off, just like he did with us. Yes ... he left a legacy promotion to the promised land solid security in the Prem FA Cup final (first time in our history) identity in the national media start of global recognition Europe Stuffing Arsenal full houses possibly one of the most intimidating atmospheres ever created in the Prem Bastard.

As I say.... You've got a massive chunky chip on your shoulder. At least I've admitted to a change in thinking. The guy deserves our respect. What's your problem ? ...Seriously. No problem at all sweetcheeks. It's a pity you can't give the current manager half the support and praise you heap on the previous one though. I do.
