Some performances transcend reasonable reaction. Some performances are so gutless and embarrassing that lashing out is the only course of action.
It will be alright again in a couple of days and thankfully some of those utter frauds will still be earning 50 grand a week.

I found getting pissed a better course of action after the game. Shit happens and since I first started following my beloved potters in 1968 there's been days upon days of shit;the last two and a bit games have been at a level nowhere near some of the depths we found ourselves wallowing in before 2008.

I'm not one for knee jerk reactions but last night Fortress Britannia officially became Bouncy Castle Britannia. In last half dozen games the only worse back 4's l have seen this season have been Villa and Newcastle and going forward we are clueless. No movement for angled passes and wide men always receiving the ball with their backs to goal. Mr Hughes appeared to have no plan to cope with Tottenham's full backs and continues to have no idea who to play up top. We'll maybe pick up one more point in the remaining games. In an ideal world we'd offload 70% of the squad........ and bring in Warburton..... before things get bad. Just hope I'm wrong and we finish the season with a flourish but the smell of dry rot was certainty in the air last night.

The good news is we are safe and have a whole summer to work on it and improve the side. We could be fighting relegation. There are players that need to go that just arnt good enough and new ones bringing in to strengthen us. For me we need an injection of British talent.

The premise of this thread is fundamentally flawed. It isn't a 'few bad performances'. It is ,in fact , a season where progress has been far from evident in many many areas.
Wild lashing out at individual players ( Jakob must be feeling a bit better about things today ) is rarely justified but a strong critique of what has been going on at the club this season is well deserved and probably overdue.
It is almost a taboo to point out the ineffectiveness and tedium of our approach to the majority of home games. Should it be frowned upon to mention that by this time of the season it is astonishing that the management appear not to have a clue as to what system they want to use going forward or the players they should use to achieve it?
Yes injuries take their toll , but it's at those times you fall back on the basics that shoul have been driven into the entire squad - a bit of organisation can cover a lot of gaps. We don't seem to have done any of that.
In short there are a considerable number of very valid issues and the fact that they are being raised isn't really pathetic - it just took a performance like last night to draw them out.

I didn't bother last night saw it coming, night matches are a pain anyway.
My conclusions after last night were over the season the tactics at home have not worked at all. We are simply without threat most games.
Our full backs are so mediocre ,all of them possibly bar Johnson and it doesn't help our build up play or options.
The crowd are lost at home watching slow ponderous play.
Mark Hughes has a huge job as most players have regressed massively over the season.

Nailed it. I'm off to work. Over analysis gets us nowhere. We were out thought and out played and just had no response. Next game I can make is Sunderland. Prayer mat is in the boot of the car.

The main issue for me is that our two centre halves are playing poorly . Shawxross is obviously not 100% and whether or not he will get back to any kind of form is debatable . Wolscheid is pretty abysmal full stop . Whelan is getting on and looks worn out . Adam looks to be struggling fitness wise . Imbula started very well but his form has slipped quite a lot . Bojan is struggling to recapture his form too and should be dropped. Diouf and Joselu seem to be not good enough , although neither have had a fair crack of the whip . Every week the side is changed around and therefore there is no consistency .
Who to blame ?

Werrington. Sorry mate you can't just bury your head in the sand. We've been hopeless recently. This is relegation form and I wouldn't want to get into a relegation scrap next year with this lot and or tactics. Hughes needs to get out if his comfort zone and sort it. Regarding a clear out, then it's time to get rid of players who simply are not up to the mark, Muniesa, Ireland etc.

We've been abject at home most of the season. It's hard work coming to home games if we're all honest. We've no clue what our best forward line is and our defence is there for the taking.

Give them some credit it wont kill you! My problem with that (and as I was driving home and everyone on the radio were saying Spurs are the best team they've ever seen like, evs) is that we made Liverpool look like that for most of last week and we made Swansea look like that for half an hour even when they were knackered and 2-0 down with little to play for. We seem to have a back 4 who have entirely forgotten how to defend as a unit (injuries, fair enough, but it's still upsetting to watch), a midfield who will try a few things in the first half hour but if they don't come off (the ref didn't help last night) will basically resort to passing it around themselves until they lose it and a front [number] who are increasingly isolated (and unfit) and outnumbered by whatever team we come up against if they've done even the most rudimentary homework. We just don't look like we've got any idea what we're trying to do anymore, which scares me. Tottenham are a good side, but bloody hell. Did not enjoy.

Don't get the fuss it was obvious in the ewory weird we had regressed And actually to get a mid ranked finish with the lack of investment and urgency in the summer is very credible .
The bigger issue for me is when we then made the Investmet we have got it wrong Shak is clearly way way off being a premier league asset my Spurs mate describe him last night as an overweight schoolboy against a man . Walters fit would have given rose three toe the test our £12 million investment did
Imbulas nowwhere near Nzozni for over double the money . big qustion in for the Board is incremental investment this sumner or recycling. Like last and who should be trusted with it . As it stands we've made a material loss on both our big purchases in asset value .
Equally last night we looked bereft of a plan and motivation and heart and that if it goes on over the next 4 will play on the minds of those holding the purse stings
In essence we can - go for a large overhaul trusting this manager as the manger will categorically not be changed or stick with the core and see how it turns out - The first requires material investment and risk the second would be recycle the Arnie Money and see how it goes .
I'm pretty sure what road we will take but only the Sumer will tell .

First of all I am gutted at last night’s performance but hardly surprised we despite what we think have little to play for In reality and we were playing a side who I believe are the best side in the Premier League right now. Tottenham were fired up desperate to close the gap on Leicester and it showed, they were up for a challenge sadly we were not. Ryan looked like a player devoid of fitness and confidence for me he should be put away for next season maybe he shouldn’t have been rushed back in the first place. As for the rest very few come out of the last couple of games with any credit. For me it only highlights that we are far from a top side yet but let’s be honest had we won last night everyone would be screaming its our years next year, we lose and some want the club turned upside down. In some cases the same people who would almost wrote the club off when the previous manager was replaced. Do Stoke City have work to do in the summer to freshen up the squad of course we do but Mark Hughes is the man to do the job. We have become accustomed to modest success under Hughes and suddenly we are on holiday with games to go and people are in meltdown. Do people really believe Mark Hughes is sitting there thinking this was acceptable over the last few games and during other slumps in the season, he is an experienced manager who has high standards and I believe he is already planning for the summer and just which players he believes have lost their way or simply no longer fit in for whatever reason. I honestly think we shall see a pruning of this squad and the edition of real quality and legs something we lack and it shows. When we click we are a joy to watch, when we don’t we look disjointed and wide open to a side like Tottenham and Liverpool last week. I agree totally we lack a Plan B but that applied to about two thirds of the Premier League sides, when their A game works everyone is happy when it fails people want the tumbrels to roll.
I think is a strange way the last few performances will have told Mark Hughes much more than if we had scraped a couple of draws he is now in no doubt that certain players lack motivation and yes some lack the ability to cope with ambitions of himself and the club. I would prefer to find that out when we are in the top half than the bottom four. We are hardly Aston Villa we have a strong first 11 when everyone is fit and at their best amazingly we have mid table squad when struggling for form and injuries disappointing yes but disastrous hardly. I totally understand people lashing out and why not I did the same last night, called pretty much every one of them spoiled overpaid pampered Donkeys and with justification, the were but it hardly means we need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I agree totally its been a season of frustrations and what might have been but when the last game is played we will hardly be pondering oblivion and Mark Hughes will know a lot more and surely will put in place a plan to improve once more next season, sometimes you need to take a step sideways to kick on again

Seems people can't see the bigger picture. We have been incredibly unlucky with injuries while some decisions which looked sound last summer have only in hindsight proved poor - that's the way it goes sometimes. Should we have kept Wingie - no. Should we have tried to get rid of Adam and Ireland and replaced them with someone who would have been more use to the squad - yes. Was relying on Wolschied, Muniesa, Wilson and Cameron to partner Shawcross a mistake even though all had proved capable in the past - yes. Could Hughes have predicted that Diouf, who started well, would suffer because his mother would die at a religious festival - no. Butland worked out better than expected - Shaqiri less well. But how many people here in December let alone last summer we're saying the squad was a mess a needed a massive overhaul?
