Why has it taken several minutes for VAR to decide on the offside before the Liverpool "penalty" incident? It was plainly obvious from the first picture that he was offside, so why did we have to wait minutes for the lines to be drawn? .....its all about control.....

It was brought in to get rid of controversy, but it's done the exact opposite. Most of the calls are still heavily inconsistent and subjective, all it's done has protect the officials on the pitch to the point where the linesmen might as well not even turn up. The thing that annoys me the most is that it's ruined the game for the match going fan. All of it is designed for the armchair casual who watches the matches on TV, like most things these days. The whole thing stinks, and then you've got the pundits and television media on the Premier League's payroll and seemingly silenced or forced to peddle this propaganda around it. The absolute joy of a last minute winner taken away for the sake of such an inconclusive call - literally centimeters in it at most. It's football for geeks. Not in my name. Spot on - can you imagine us being 3-0 down to come back to 3-3 then have a perfectly legitimate goal chalked off in the last minute to deny the deserved victory and giant-killing to end all giant killing - and furthermore allowed to think that it was the case for several minutes, the ref and liner having done nowt to object - it's all about the big club domination & preservation of the status quo, the TV rights, the betting and those that lurk in the shadows.......its all about da money and they can shove it for me now.....

It's an absolute fucking disgrace - no flag, no hint of offside from the ref or the liner - Utd players knew it was a goal and that they had been beaten by their reaction despite a couple of automatic hands-in-the-air appealing by the flat footed donkeys in their defence...... I hope City absolutely tear them another one in the final - although that's through gritted teeth as well given their appalling FFP indictments - it will be a game I won't be watching though - I'm done with it - Sky subcription can fuck off as well - I'm not paying good money to see this corrupt and uncompetitive farce of a game at the supposed "top" level - it's shit...... and so is the international game - another I won't be watching this summer.....

The Coventry offside is simply too close to call and I don't give a fuck how many digital lines they throw at it. The goal should've stood and Cov should've enjoyed one of the biggest wins in their history. The game is being ruined, lets have goal line technology and fuck the rest off. Spot on - it's a great fucking con to keep the big six up there or thereabouts - never mind the crayon thick lines on a poxy TV screen - what about the point of release from the forward pass - no-one ever challenges at exactly what point this was deemed to be effective - you'd need a 1000 FPS facility to get that perfectly right - anyhow its a load of bollcocks and as others have said it's ruining the game for a lot of us - offside was all about preventing "goal hanging" as we used to call it and being "level" was always onside and it was always meant to favour the attacking side when it was close......now it's just looking to deny for the sake of it - and it's still fucking subjective if they have to have half a dozen folk and 6 camera angles to pour over a decision for 4 minutes or whatever - just mental. Coventry (and more widely we - the great unwashed - were robbed yesterday and the so-called magic of the cup well and truly asphyxiated - they just had to keep the shit in it at any cost .........

I'm ambivalent on this Sohail chap - I can see he's trying (too hard perhaps?) to hone his craft for which I believe he has studied and been trained at Uni, and that's creditable but drives me mad when he tries to flower stuff out with excess verbiage and rhetoric when it's just not appropriate - obsessed with state of shorts (clean, muddied, grass stained??) and other odd observations - sometimes less is more fellah! From a parochial perspective it would be nice to have a local commentator (for local people ;-) who can genuinely embrace the "mental" as a supporter but that is probably an anachronism in this day and age where a degree of neutrality is deemed more professional (and more likely to see you plucked for national duties as some previous incumbents have I think, although names escape me....
The "Buthen end" drives me fucking nuts though - we need more "Centre Cirtles"....!!

I don't subscribe to this so-called hatred of Vale - but I do get it for those who do .... their relegation adversely affects the city to some degree and it would be a sad day to see them fall out of the FL as many "old" leage clubs have over the years. As others of a certain age have stated, there was a time when a good number went to both Stoke and Vale on a regular basis and always wanted both to "do well" as my dad used to say - he was primarily a Valey through attending Stanfields Tech, but went to Sheffield on that summers day when we missed out on our one and only chance of becoming 1st division champions in 1947 - rightly or wrongly he was always a bit bitter about Matthews leaving us for Blackpool in the weeks before that delayed match. He then took us to see some of the more glamourous 70s matches as kids - Ajax and the like when we were pushing for the top post winning the League Cup - anyhow I digress..!!! Crewe however are a different matter and I'm definately in the "hater" camp primarily for the way they denigrated our club during the 90s, and generally cocked a snook when they were briefly above us (and the eternal Radio STOKE wank-fest over Crewe and Gradi week in and week out) - indeed, I clearly remember the cheers going round the Vic if Crewe were leading at half time but this goodwill soon disappeared when folk realised what a nasty, malign little club they were....... Speaking of Crewe - I had the misfortune to hear McGarry commentating on their match v Wrexham on Saturday on my way to the Brit - I was gobsmacked to hear him refer to the Crewe fans leaving early as 'clearly not proper fans'! McGarry is a prick and I hate listening to him but I was a little stunned to hear that little gem come out of his mouth. Absolutley, always been a complete and utter annoying cock-womble

I've always wondered why football doesn't adopt the rugby method. There is probably some good reason that I don't know about. I can't think of a good reason why they don't adopt it. It could absolutely rid the game of time wasting and cancel the advantage that the dark arts cheats benefit from.. It’s all about control “they” want to keep it (timekeeping) vague and random so “they” can dictate an outcome (of how long to add or when to implement time wasting sanctions) based on “their” interpretation on the day - used to infuriate me when x mins we’re added but the stadium clock stopped at 90 - simple independent clock stopping policy (for all dead ball situations IMHO but would settle for a subset) would ensure we, the paying public, get closer to 90 mins of actual game time rather than the 50-60 we see week in and out.

I know you're right of course - just feels like it's become almost a default run in to.the end.of the season and its somewhat tedious - indeed they ought to be a great side with the money that's been spent- that said I find the style of play mechanical and boring with only a flash of excitement and true flair coming to the fore - it is true that I've fallen out of love with the game in recent years and pine for another Leicester to happen - think it.may never happen again truth be.known There’s enough money in the premier league for at least 6 teams to win it. The teams with the best management are winning it. It’s no fluke I’d like to believe this is the case but can’t see beyond the Manchesters with Liverpool (who I think will struggle post- Klopp when a few of the remaining stars will also exit) and maybe perennial bottlers Arsenal - Chelsea are in a recovery that may take half a decade or more and Spurs haven’t replaced Kane …. Would love to see Villa continue to compete under Emre ……….or Brighton perhaps - but it will be as you were no doubt and the Leicester thing a once in a lifetime event….

Citeh win another title almost by default again - boring and annoying in equal measure - Villa can hopefully push on but think the Shit will be more a formidable proposition under Ratcliffe next season…….Klopp and Arteta serial bottlers - that said, Citeh due some major FFP sanctions surely……. You win the title by finishing top, not default Not been at their usual best but still a great side I know you're right of course - just feels like it's become almost a default run in to.the end.of the season and its somewhat tedious - indeed they ought to be a great side with the money that's been spent- that said I find the style of play mechanical and boring with only a flash of excitement and true flair coming to the fore - it is true that I've fallen out of love with the game in recent years and pine for another Leicester to happen - think it.may never happen again truth be.known
