As thrilling as the last three games have been, today was the type of win that will see us go up to the promised land. We contained a decent Ipswich team pretty well I thought and always looked the more likely to score. We looked more solid at the back and the midfield four were excellent. It's a good sign when we can win with Ric having a quiet one. As for Liam, what can we say? The lad keeps getting better and better, what a goal and what a season he's having. GOOOAAAAARRRRRNNNNNN STOKE ;D ;D ;D

Yep, we kept them pretty much at arm's length all afternoon and I can't really recall any genuine heart-attack moments, although Lawrence's back-pass was worthy of a gasp. Lee and Walters didn't have much of a look in and Haynes was never given the opportunity to cause us any real trouble in the second half.
We needed a game like that.

Totally agree, Jamo. I'd be happy with 1-0s all the way now, even the odd 0-0 if necessary. But unlike our old binaries, we were doing it with quality, and like you say, the two blocks of four really made it work and although they had their chances I could never see us losing.

Lee and Walters didn't have much of a look in and Haynes was never given the opportunity to cause us any real trouble in the second half. Griff and Dicko did a great job keeping Haynes out of the game. He, like the other Ipswich substitutes, had no impact on the game at all. It was a great team performance, with a sublime piece of individual skill thrown in for good measure. Not the most entertaining game if I'm being honest, but it's a fantastic result - and that's absolutely fine by me!

We made a decent side look quite ordinary today. No real nail biting. No spells of sustained pressure. Just the occassional foray into our half Beating these teams is what we must continue to do, and even Preston, in their situation ,must be approached with caution, and we need to keep on our toes.
