Megson recomended him too. www.whydelilah.co.uk/news/Saf...s53018283.aspx23/02/2008 - City in safe hands By Martin Spinks HUNGARIAN international goalkeeper Marton Fulop has arrived at Stoke City clutching glowing references from Adrian Heath and Gary Megson. Both gave their blessing to his loan signing after City boss Tony Pulis sought their opinion on the 24-year-old Sunderland keeper. "He's outstanding," said Heath without hesitation. "He came to Coventry on loan from Tottenham in 2005/06 and was absolutely faultless. "He's got great feet, great hands - a top-drawer keeper. He will be a great signing for Stoke and I'm sure he won't let them down if called upon. "It now gives Tony very strong competition in the goalkeeping department with Steve Simonsen there as well. "We tried to buy him at Coventry and I think we offered £700,000, but he ended up going to Sunderland instead. "When I was recently looking all over Europe for players for Sam Allardyce at Newcastle, I recommended he bought Marton. That's how highly I rate him." Stoke went ahead with his signing yesterday after satisfying themselves he would still be eligible for the Championship play-off final under the 93-day loan rule - even if the date of the game is put back two days to Monday, May 26 at a Football League meeting next week. That leaves Fulop free to line up in Stoke's squad for the first time today for their promotion clash with Ipswich at the Britannia. Fulop arrived at Spurs from Hungary in July 2003 armed with an intriguing pedigree - his father was a Hungarian international striker in real life, but played for Germany in the Hollywood film Escape To Victory. Fulop played on loan at Chesterfield, Coventry and Sunderland after failing to break into the Spurs first team. He joined Sunderland for £700,000 in January last year, but was loaned out to Leicester for 27 appearances earlier this season when his various managers at the Walkers Stadium included Megson. Leicester tried to buy him for £2m when his loan expired on December 31, but Sunderland placed a £3m asking price on him. Fulop has been capped a dozen times by his country, but was recently warned he could lose his place if he remained in Sunderland's reserves. "I've been monitoring him for over a year now," revealed Pulis, "because I think he's an outstanding goalkeeper. That was also the vibe I was getting from both Meggy and Inchy when I asked about him. "I'm just delighted we've had the opportunity to take him to freshen things up a bit in the goalkeeping department. Fulop's arrival means veteran Russell Hoult is poised to join League Two strugglers Notts County on loan after enjoying just one league outing in 13 months at the Britannia.

Fülöp signed a year long loan deal with Leicester City on 16 August 2007,[8] making his debut against Crystal Palace two days later, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
On September 1, the goalkeeper made a string of superb saves against Plymouth Argyle to ensure managerless Leicester a point.[9] This would be the first of a number of fine performances from Fülöp. He told Sky Sports on September 19 that he is confident Leicester will push for promotion this season.[10] On September 26, Fülöp repeated his string of superb saves which contributed in the team's shock victory over Aston Villa in the Carling Cup.[11] He was twice named in the Championship Team Of The Week on the 1st and 22nd of October.[12][13]
Fülöp made another fine performance against Chelsea in a Carling Cup match on October 31, twice denying Claudio Pizarro and pushing an effort from Scott Sinclair onto the post, but could not prevent his side from losing 4-3.[14] His form this season prompted Leicester fans to urge the club to sign him on a permanent basis in the January transfer window. Fülöp told Sky Sports on 21 December that he is interested in a permanent deal with Leicester,[15] and the club made an offer for him on 29 December, together with Graham Kavanagh.[16] He played his last match for Leicester in a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic at the Walkers Stadium on 29 December 2007.[17]
Megson must of been manager in that period!

On 13 September 2007, a press conference was called by Leicester City chairman Milan Mandarić where he announced Gary Megson as the new manager of the club, citing Megson's "wealth of experience" as a deciding factor in the appointment. He accomplished his first league win on 6 October 2007 with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough with goals from Gareth McAuley and an own goal by Akpo Sodje[10]
A month into Megson's reign as Leicester manager, the club received an approach from Bolton Wanderers for his services, but this was turned down by Mandarić.[11] On October 23, Bolton announced that Megson was the front-runner to become their new manager, and made a second approach for him. The club said they were also willing to compensate Leicester should Megson leave the club.[12] This second approach was also rejected by Milan Mandarić,[13] but he was eventually given permission to speak to Bolton and left Leicester on 24 October 2007, just 41 days and nine league games after being appointed Foxes manager.[14]
Indeed he was!
