True point, Simmo is too quiet in the box and there is hardly any chat to Leon and Ryan. He needs to be more commanding in his box. Not taking anything away from his actual skill level, the guy is a class keeper on his day, but he sometimes becomes to prone to mistakes, a bit of healthy competition would do him no harm. Although feel a little sorry for Russ Hoult.

I love simo.
But he has been poor this season, end of. Rooted to his line, dropping catches , everything really apart from some fantastic stops which you expect from him.
Its time to get a younger keeper in, I wouldn't be suprised if fulop came in , became a favourite and signed on.

Er, because Simo's been patchy for a while (though still the division's best shot stopper imho) and 83 year old Russell Hoult's seriously rusty??

Simmo has never really had any decent competiton for his place.
Fulop will provide this.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him as our first choice keeper next season.

Smeegs:
From the sound of Keane's quotes, ("he's going to get games..." etc) I wouldn't be too surprised to see him as first team keeper from Preston onwards?
Something's definitely been said / sorted along those lines & you don't have a £3m GK catching splinters for long do you?

Exactly.
Simmos days were always going to be numbered.

Simmo is a fantastic keeper and arguably the best shot stopper outside the Premiership. His area commanding, butter fingers and the fact he's shit scared to come and collect crosses really let him down though. It can't be a confidence thing, so maybe he's just going through one of them bad spells, because he hasn't been as bad as this for as long I can remember.

It's very typical of the managers buying policy
If a quality player becomes available, and a deal can be done, he snaps them up.
People complained at the begining of the season for his lack of activity.
But were there many deals that were worth going after?
For me the only ones were the players we now have in our ranks. (Griff, Diao)

Makes me laugh really. Blowing my own trumpet like, but i said two years ago about Simmo not commanding his area and not taking crosses. I was the only person down Stoke at the time that saw it and said it. I also said it last season and got slated on rivals for having a go at someone who was part of the best defence in the championship. I said it again at the start of this season and smudge had a wager with me when i dared to say that Hoult would replace him by christmas. Now everyone agrees with me! Don't like blowing my own trumpet, but having took stick off Rivals, this board and my mates for over two years it's just nice to say 'told you so'!

I fully support TP in this matter (I would never think I would say so but it's never too late to admit so. Is it?). Simmo needs competition and if bringing Fulop in can improve the squad so be it.

Age 24. I think Stoke and Pulis has one eye on the future. Pulis likes to try players on loan before buying them to make sure they fit in. The three million that the black cats want will only be paid if we get promotion, which I am confident will happen.

Er, because Simo's been patchy for a while (though still the division's best shot stopper imho) and 83 year old Russell Hoult's seriously rusty?? My thoughts too, Sal. There's also the possibility that Simmo might get injured, and Hoult doesn't inspire me with confidence (although didn't realise he was that young!).
