For those of you interested, having written this article I have had a few questions answered by Tony Scholes. 1. Colchester have agreed in principle to increase our allocation by 200-300 to about 1200 supporters. 2. Tickets will be allocated on a supporter loyalty basis (i.e. those who have attended most away games). However, he did admit it could be difficult to trace some supporters purchases as friends could buy tickets on their behalf. Perhaps ticket stubs would be the answer? 3. It is in the back of his mind for some kind of beam back although there is nothing concrete as of yet www.whydelilah.co.uk/news/Club-can-solve-a-pot691175842.aspx

James, nice article, although I query why the most loyal supporters should get two tickets per application?
That creates a potential scenario where someone could, potentially, be attending a game for the FIRST time as a "guest" of the loyal supporter.
In fixtures like this people will miss out. I would for certain.
You look after your sponsors, your loyalest supporters and staff.
Those like me that would miss out then decide to attend a beam-back or try and buy a ticket in the home-end.
Alls fair in love and war. Whatever the club decide to do it will upset many. I'd take objection to the 300 loyalest supporters being given a "freebie" to give to who ever they wanted. That would/could create a dangerous black market.

True true Dave. My way of seeing things was that (due to the problems in question 2) there would be one person who would buy tickets and could use the second ticket for their partner.
Like you say though, it could be used completely the wrong way and people could attend the match as their debut away game of the campaign
Whatever happens, there will be disappointed people

This is the only game I am worried about for tickets, hopefully though it should not be a problem. I have been Colchester every time Stoke have played there inc. the Tues night game when Gudjohnsson scored that cracker!
While it is great to see our away support increase over the last few games, I would be bitterly annoyed if any supporter like myself who travels home and away week in-week out to miss this game.
How many tickets have we sold for Preston BTW?

getting a bit worried now, been to 4 away games this season (6 by time of colchester) and me bro wants to go (he's only been to Soton).
Be gutted if I don't get tickets, but I can see argument in allocating them based on attendance at previous games.
BTW - what about Leicester (H), (presumably that'll sell out quick)

Well when we have a top attendance of 20,000 for the season so far I can't see the club needing to do anything other than put the tickets on general sale
