Working up in newcastle today with a fella from Ramsbottom (steady Cradiff fans) who's daughter is with burnley FC U14 academy being coached by "big Vince" hope he doesn't call himself that during the team tactics talk

I always thought Vinny would make a great manager...trouble is he'd probably be too busy looking in the mirror to give his team talks!
One of my favourite EVER Stoke players.

Yes Vinny was ace. It wasn't at the highest level of football admittedly but the 92/93 team I idolised. Vinny, Steino,Cranny were Gods.
Great days great matches and we usually won.

When Big Vince did the co-commentating on Radio Stoke, he always talked a lot of sense. He had the added bonus of being able to communicate clearly. Something lacking in some of his successors. ;D

I went to the testimonial game for ex- West Brom striker Bob Taylor last year. I read a copy of the programme that had been specially produced for the game and there was an interview with Bob looking back over his career.
In it, he said that Cranson and Overson were the toughest defenders he had ever played against. And this coming from a guy who played in The Premiership for a while!

Dean Holdsworth once said Overson was his toughest ever opponent...said in "Shoot" magazine he was "Built like a brick outhouse"!!!!! sure he did

what worries me is you admit to reading SHOOT, the footy mag aimed at 12 yr olds.
I used to read 90 minutesa proper weekly footy mag, killed off by the likes of 442.... now that was worth reading .

I don't remember overson becasue i'm only 15. I remember of him and remember him playing but can't remember any individual games or tackles.
Though i remember cranson, especially in goal at oldham. Though that could be he's the father of my mate and lived round the corner from me and my dad regularly having conversations with us a few years ago.
Good to see him involved with the club gaain even if it is at youth level!
