For those interested... REMEMBERING ROBBIE - A SWANSEA LEGEND Be the first reader to comment on this story 09:00 - 21 February 2008 On Monday it was 10 years since the great Robbie James passed away.I always remember the date because it was two days after my birthday and there's a plaque dedicated to Robbie by the players tunnel at Stebonheath Park, Llanelli. I took over at Llanelli after Robbie's death and we had a commemorative match against Stoke City, when Brian Little was the manager, and Stebo was packed to the rafters. Robbie James had the lot - he was quick, very strong, powerful, he was brilliant on the ball and could score goals. He could have played at centre-half, he was a great full-back towards the end of his career and when I brought him to Bradford when I was coaching there he played sweeper. Compared to the modern era, I would put him up there with Roy Keane. People may think that is a little far fetched, but those who played with Robbie knew how good he was. Ivor Allchurch was the best player I ever saw in a Swansea shirt and it's a fight between Robbie James and Alan Curtis for the second best. And there's no shame in coming second to Ivor Allchurch. www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=161367&command=displayContent&sourceNode=161360&contentPK=19937402&folderPk=88481&pNodeId=161383
