Any one know if our friends half-way across the pond are maintaining or even increased there interest in Stoke what with all this promotion hysteria? Just wondered if Jobi or any of the other one-time regulars were still around? Has Gunnar Gislasson been back this season? I remember he was over last year and it seemed that it was all smiles in the Exec seats. Even TP was full of praise for him!

I hope so-I like the fact we have a healthy following of Scandinavian (sorry if it's spelt wrong) fans.

Jobbi posted the other week and is planning a trip.
Gunnar and Magnus will be delighted at our promotion push - it will net them £2 million (or is it £3 million?) if it succeeds.
I hope Geiri is still a fan and I hope he makes it over for any promotion party.

Oh yes, I was well aware that there were "financial benefits" if we are promoted - but Gunnar always seemed to have the club at heart. I remember he was supposed to have been quite upset when he had to cease involvement.

I thought that they only got the cash if we were promoted last season? I stand to be corrected through :-)

Cheers Jobbi.
nicco - I think the contingency payment was if we got promoted within two or three years - certainly more than one.
NNH - I was at the AGM when Gunnar announced that the Icelanders were proposing to sell (a year before they actually did sell) and Gunnar was indeed VERY emotional when he announced that he would be sad to give up the Chairmanship. I really do think he was a Stokie by the end.

If there's a promotion party at the end of the season it would be nice to see some of the Iceland contingent back.

I think there is still some interest. I myself at least read the forum 2-3 times a day. Im very happy for you all that Stoke finally seems to be good enough to make the big step up to the Premiere League.

I think Gunnar did have the club at heart and was a Stokie by the end! I remember Pulis praising him last time he was over. I think there was a healthy respect between them and that TP appreciated that often what Gunnar did was because the holding company wanted him to do it.

GG was very much a middle-man - especially towards the end.

I'm still here. I'm not able to follow quite as closely as the past few years because I'm studying at Reykjavik University, but I'm still a supporter and that will never change. Being a student also means that my chances of flying over for matches are quite limited as I'm financially challenged. But I WILL find a way to fly over if we get into the playoff final. I'd love to experience another playoff final day! And if we get automatic promotion I'll have to choose a game carefully to try to get as much as I can out of the experience. My friends have started asking about Stoke again after we went top but the questions may not be the ones you'd expect: - When did Stoke stop sucking? - Are the Icelanders still running things over there? - I thought you hated Tony Pulis!? Best wishes to my friends in S-o-T. Hopefully I'll see you soon. Ásgeir

Cheers, Geiri. Good to see that you still keep the faith. I'd imagine the Leicester game (last of the season) will be a big party if we go up automatically and we could win the Championship on that day. I have to say that I hope we do go up automatically, my heart might not stand another playoff final!
Don't forget to let us know what you decide to do as regards coming over - there will be plenty on here will want to buy you a drink and one of us will get your ticket for you if you need us to.

Kerry Katona's still a big follower. She's also the main reason for pie shortages at the match.
